Cheetahpaw limped into the den her right hind leg dragging behind her. 'Forestbreak? Clovepetal!" she called. "My leg!" she flopped down and began to lick it.

Forestbreak, unfazed, took one look at the apprentice. Grabbing her scruff, she mewed, "Do you need me to carry you to a nest?" The next moment, she pondered this, then countered, "Never mind." The medicine cat gently let go of the apprentice and busied over to her herb store.
"Comfrey," she muttered under her breath. She grabbed the comfrey in her jaws, and placed it in front of Cheetahpaw. "Here," she said calmly. "Eat this. It will help heal your bone." She could tell at first glance that Cheetahpaw's leg was broken. "Don't worry, your leg will heal soon. You're young and will have an easy time recovering." Next, she prepared a small rod of rush and a few cobwebs, getting ready to brace the apprentice's leg.

Cheetahpaw quickly licked up the herb. Then she stared at Forestbreak. "Is my leg broken?" she asked, dreading the answer.

Forestbreak looked at her condescendingly. "I just said that comfrey would help heal your bone. Yes, your leg is broken. Calm down, you're the fourth cat this moon to break your leg. You'll have some buddies to limp around with." The medicine cat rolled her eyes and placed a rod of rush up against the cat's leg.
"This is going to hurt," she said bluntly. "I'm putting your bone back where it should be. It'll be quick, but it will hurt a lot for a few moments. Are you ready?" She placed her paw on the cat's leg, waiting for an answer before she moved the bone.

Cheetahpaw gulped and nodded her head, picking up a stick in her jaws. One of her friends who had also broken her bone told her it would help if you bit down on it when she puts it back.

Forestbreak quickly jerked the leg into place, then set it straight against the rod of rush and wrapped it tightly with cobwebs. "There. Your bone is back in place, and now it can heal properly." She took another leaf of comfrey from her herbs, and set it in front of Cheetahpaw. "Eat this later tonight. The leg should be fully healed in about a moon, all right? Don't try any rough physical activity or training until then," the medicine cat informed her.
"Now, you can stay here overnight or go back to the apprentices' den. Either one, I don't mind," she said, shrugging. "There's probably no harm in going back to your den as long as you're not running around with your denmates."

Cheetahfur nodded and picked up the comfrey leaf. "Is it okay I eat it at moohigh?" she asked, trying not to taste the foul leaf.
