(this is referring to Hookmist's post)In cats defense I've seen a fat dog ten times fatter than the picture up there. In my opinion, cats can be rough but not as much as dogs. Although that wolf above this post was awesome. And some cats are just unlucky to look like that. And some cat-haters cause some cats to look ugly. All in all dogs are smelly and poop a lot, and they will run away. (poor Percy, I miss him) Cats don't run away as much and are often abused.

Dogs. Most dogs enjoy company and don't ignore you. You cant teach most cats tricks. If u put a cat on a leash, it would probably attack u. u cant play fetch or tug-of-war with a cat.

But you are wrong there, Redpaw. You can train cats not to mind haveing a lead. Some cat's will not even need a lead and follow you on regular walks. I've seen a cat play fetch and patricipated in throwing the toy myself. I will also say that a cat would not see that point of tug-of-war and just scratch you if it wanted to keep the object that you where trying to play tug-of-war with. Now I leave you with a thought; You can get seven dogs to pull a sledge at the chance that they will loose their own life. A cat rises above the dog with its inteligence, it would not do something so unself serving. Also, that cet is now the most popular pet, above dogs.

I would have to say cats...
Plus side:Dogs because they can save you from earthquakes and Break ins and also if you get lost in the forest they can find you.
Down side: They drool, can be tricked easily, chews up stuff, eats my jeans.
Plus side:Cats because they are sweet, loving, don't chew up your stuff, won't eat your jeans, they also are squishy, have softer fur, and purr happily. Cats clean themselves and you don't have to groom them and they are immediately potty trained unlike dogs. They first day I got my cat I chose them over dogs. Oh and my kitty is WAY cuter than dogs she is a calico and has camouflage on her face. (pm me for a picture)
Down side: They get hairballs and aren't as energetic.

I HAVE HAVE HAVE to say cats, Cats are way smarter that dogs, some people complain that cats dont do tricks because they are smart enought to know what game to play and what game to not play, On the other hand Dogs are mindless and do what their owner tells them to do, and Cats are usefull, for example if you have a mouse problem cats can get rid of them, and cats can take care of them selfs they can feed and bath them selfs but dogs cant they rely on humans to take care of them? thats why many street dogs die each year, Also if you have a guest over the first thing a dog does is jump snd slobber of the guest the guest may not like that, but with cats they just give a welcome meow and continue to what they were doing, Also cats are quiter than dogs, dogs bark and howl at night, cats dont they just meow and you hardly hear it, And you can potty train cats But with dogs you can't you have to pick up their poop and clean up their pee, with cats you just have to get a litter box or you can train them to use the toliet, if you are wondering i HAVE had a dog before named Manny he was THE WORST pet ever he barked and howled at night and bit and even tore apart my fav jeans! and i also had a cat named Berry he was my best friend I played with him all the time, he was my pashion but on june 23rd 2006 he died of old age, he was 20 years old i had him or all my life, since i was bor he was there, he even helped me take my first step!!! RIP berry D: also what i dont get if you have alot of dogs that OK but if you have alot of cats THAT WIERD that always bothers me,
CATS ARE WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY BETTER THAN DOGS

I personally think dogs are better. When I'm upset, my dogs are there for me. My cats are asleep. If my sister and I have a fight, my dogs will get between us to try and stop it. My cats sleep. When I'm tired and want to sleep, my dogs move for me. My cats hiss at me.
And about the mouse thing? My cats catch rats and mice and let them go in the back yard. My dog, Scamp? He follows me outside and HE catches rats and mice. My cats have let rats go, and my dog kills them. I was walking through the garden with my dog and he jumped in front of me, ducked his head down and had a rat. He killed it quickly instead of torturing it like my cats.
My dogs aren't mindless. If my dog does a trick right, he gets a treat or is praised. My dog runs around the house catching flies.
Not all dogs slobber. Not all dogs shed fur. Not all dogs jump on people. My dogs do jump on people, yes, because one's a puppy who doesn't know better and the other is small so it doesn't bother people, but he doesn't jump on anyone he doesn't know, and if he does, he is scared.
Dogs aid people. They help the blind, they've saved peoples lives, they can be used as gun dogs, and herding sheep too.
There are breeds of dogs that cannot howl. Dogs should not be faulted for howling. How would you like to be kept outside all night? That's why my dogs sleep inside. And, actually, dogs CAN be toilet trained. They are trained to only go outside, though xD But I think you could train them to go in a litter box. My dog goes outside, but he acts like a cat XD I often see him pawing the ground as if kicking cat litter back.
I love cats too, however. I prefer dogs because of MY experience, not anyone other than mines.
I think it helps that when I was a kid, my first cat was very moody. He scratched me and my dad and sister thought it was funny and praised the cat. And I had a cat that slept on my head so I had to wash my hair every day.
Though I had a lovely cat once. I have to say, I loved that cat. It was as good as any dog. We would all sit in the lounge room and call him, and he would run up to us happily. His name was Kovu. That darling cat <3 He didn't like being petted whilst he ate, but he was always friendly. My sister and mum found him on a walk. His name was Tubby. x-x He was skinny, too. His old family obviously didn't like him, as we found his owners and the owner said he was planning to dump the poor boy, so we adopted him.
We went on holidays and that cat got hit by a car looking for us.
That was the only cat I've liked as much as I like dogs.

I like cats cause they are smaller and you can go onlong trips without worrying they'll poop and pee all over. (Most of the time!)
