debating some women's rights stuff~

things that are not selfish:

• having an abortion because you were raped.
• having an abortion because you aren't financially stable.
• having an abortion because contraception failed.
• having an abortion because you don't want a child.
• having an abortion because of medical problems.

you get the point.

things that are selfish:

• forcing a woman to have a baby she doesn't want/can't care for.
• putting a child in the position of having to live in an already over-crowded foster-care system.
• taking a woman's right to chose her own fate away.
• telling women -- no, any human -- lies so that they are misinformed.

a fetus, by definition, is not a baby. making abortion illegal won't make it less common of a practice, but it will make it a much more dangerous one.

Though I do not debate a lot, I feel the need to debate at least once here.

I agree with you, Scar, about abortion and lying to women or forcing her to have a child she doesn't want nor can take care of.

From the beginning of time, women haven't had the same amount of rights as men. They didn't get their rights until, what, the 1900's? A lot of women in the world still don't have the rights women of America and other places have. Women are looked down upon and are treated harshly. Men think they can do anything to women because they don't have the equal social position as themselves. From my knowledge, women in other parts of the world today are still being forced to have children they don't want, whether it is here or somewhere else. Some people in other parts of the world enslave twelve-year-old girls, again from what I know, and send them off for marriage and things like that. It isn't fair. Not one bit.

I don't think they should make abortion illegal because it won't be good for an economy, in my opinion, to have women that have kids they were forced to have. Especially if the alternative is sending them to orphanage. Some kids in orphanages, from what I hear, can get depressed, and depression almost always seems to end in suicide, and that i probably one of the last things we need here. Even though we don't have to most suicides in the world, it is one way to prevent it, in my opinion.

So, yes, what I am saying is I agree with Scar, and I believe we don't need to make abortion illegal.

Now, if you are religious and believe the person you worship created every human being for a purpose and believe it should be illegal, I won't try to change your mind. But, that means another mother won't be able to provide for her child if she was forced to have the child.
