Tabbykit padded into the medicine cat's den. She had a scratched tail and ear, and a bleeding lip. She looked around the den for the first time. So many herbs!

Forestbreak opened her eyes and stood up from her nest. Having just gotten up from a nap, her fur was a bit messy, so she quickly smoothed it down with a few licks. Then, the medicine cat padded up to the kit and smiled at her.
"A bit scratched up, are we? Do try to be more careful next time." A chuckle escaped from her mouth. "What's your name, dear? My name is Forestbreak. I'm one of the medicine cats." She turned around and began looking through her herbs. "I don't think you need very much for these cuts. Cobwebs, maybe, and marigold or dock to help stop infection."

"My name is Tabbykit." the kit meowed. "I'm sorry, and I'll try to be more careful next time."

She smiled. "Hello, Tabbykit. It's nice to meet you. And it's quite all right. It's fine to make a mistake once, because that's how you learn to be better the next time." The medicine cat removed a few herbs from her storage space and placed them on the ground. Next, she padded briefly over to the corner of the den and gathered a few wispy cobwebs in one paw.
She hobbled back to the kit, keeping the paw she held the cobwebs in off of the ground. Carefully, she pawed them off onto the ground, then picked up the marigold, chewed it hastily, and spat it onto her paw. "This might sting a little."

Tabbykit winced. "Ouch! Yes, it does. Thank you!"

Forestbreak laughed. "It'll stop stinging in just a moment, and it'll make your cuts heal faster. So in the long run, it's good for you." The medicine cat smiled softly. "You're welcome, dear."
She waited a few seconds, then began wrapping the cobwebs around the wounds. "This should stop the bleeding," she told the kit.

(Sorry I didn't post. What was I thinking?) Tabbykit smiled at Forestbreak. "Thank you!" she meowed again.

Forestbreak finished wrapping the cobwebs and smiled. "You're all fixed up. Just don't pull at the cobwebs or tussle around too much. You might break the wounds open again." She patted the kit on the shoulder with her tail. "Now go on and play, but be careful, all right?"
The medicine cat padded to the back of the den and went back to sorting herbs.
