Cherryheart limped into the medicine cat den. "Guys!, i have the biggest thorn in my paw and it hurts like crazy!"she cried. |

Forestbreak barely stifled a chuckle. Weren't warriors old enough to take thorns out of their own paws? Nevertheless, she padded up to Cherryheart with a concerned expression on her face. "Sorry about that. What happened?" she asked, busying herself with looking the paw over. It was a large thorn, and she figured that Cherryheart had done the right thing in letting the medicine cat take it out and treat it. It could get infected, after all.
She sighed. "Okay, here we go. Flip over your paw and hold it out. Keep it steady, so it won't flop around if I tug it a bit," Forestbreak told her, grabbing some herbs in the meantime to put on after she removed the thorn.

"I see," she commented, then leaned forward to inspect Cherryheart's paw. "It doesn't look too bad. Maybe at risk for infection, but we can ward any of that off pretty easily with herbs." The medicine cat set down the dock leaves she'd fetched a moment ago from the back of the den.
"Okay," said Forestbreak. "I'm going to pull the thorn out now. Brace yourself." She fastened her teeth around the base of the thorn and tugged in one swift motion, and the thorn dislodged from Cherryheart's pad. "Done."

Cherryheart nodded as Forestbreak pulled the thorn out. She sighted the minute it was done

Forestbreak began chewing the dock leaves into a poultice, then, once that was done, she spat them out into her paw and began applying them carefully to the wound on Cherryheart's paw. Next, she took a small bundle of cobwebs from the corner and slowly spread them over the place where the thorn had been. "There," she said to the warrior. "You're done. Be careful not to pick off the cobwebs or something. You could reopen the wound."
