(Continued from this thread with @maplefrost.)
To say the trek back to the TreeClan camp was awkward was an understatement. Being half-dead on her feet and covered in blood, both her own and the eagle's, from head to tail, with an equally injured IceClanner in tow, Koisplash knew they were quite a sight. And that wasn't bringing in the tension between them, with the wariness on Maplefrost's part. Not that he needed to be. Koisplash had every intention of complying with his set conditions, and she didn't break her word when she could help it.
She made her way in through the camp entrance and headed straight for the medicine den, picking up on the strong smell of herbs even before she was a whisker-length from the entrance. She stepped inside, expecting Maplefrost to follow.
"Waspwing?" Koisplash ventured. She cleared her throat and spoke again. "Waspwing, I'd like your help. I...uh, there was an eagle. And...I brought someone."
Okay, she could have phrased all of that better, but after having had a near-death encounter alongside her old rival with a bird twice her size, she wasn't really up for eloquence.

(4 days late. 4 days of lazy)
Waspwing gasped at the sight of Koisplash and her...Iceclan follower. He quickly hobbled over to the herb stores and grabbed some burdock root and cobweb. He rushed back over, and dropped the burdock at Koi's paws. "Alright, alright, everything is fine." He stammered as he began to chew the burdock into a pulp.
He looked over to the Iceclan senior warrior and narrowed his eyes. He'd definitely question Koisplash about him later.

-wrangles muse-
Maplefrost followed the deputy into the medicine den with a heavy limp and a grimace. He did not want to be here. Sure, it was nice of the other calico to not leave him to die while trying to get home... but at the same time, they'd just killed an eagle that had been out for blood. All he wanted was to be in the IceClan medicine den with his mate to snuggle with.
Well, it was nice to dream, but then there was reality. The senior warrior's shoulders were a mess; the eagle had scored him with its talons pretty well. Additionally, his left leg felt like it was on fire. The old muscle injury was acting up again, it seemed.
Stifling a hiss as he took another step, the Maine Coon sat down near one wall and met Waspwing's glare with one of his own.
"If you could stop trying to stare me to death and actually make sure I don't die of blood loss, that'd be great, meddie." His voice was a half-snarl as he addressed Waspwing. Though he and Koisplash might be on a temporary ceasefire, he wasn't going to play nice for everyone else if they treated him with hostility.

(OHMYGODI'MSOSORRYFORTHELATEREPLYI'MANIDIOT)
Koisplash shifted slightly, which she quickly regretted as another barb of pain shot up her injured shoulder. She winced, setting her jaw grimly at the sight of Waspwing. Not that she wasn't glad to see him, but she felt a little pathetic. First she'd come with a cough, now she'd been mauled and brought a cat from another Clan with her. If Waspwing wasn't being sarcastic about treating wounds, then things were really bad.
Her ears twitched as Maplefrost spoke, and she had to suppress a growl. Of course, he still had to be insufferable, even after they'd both nearly died. Alright, so his hostility was understandable, considering that he was in an enemy Clan, but it didn't make it any less irritating. Or maybe that was just her exhaustion from battle and blood loss talking, kicking in with grouchiness. She didn't know or care which it was.
"He'll treat you next," Koisplash snapped. "You aren't going to be here for moons, you know. Let's just get this over with."

Waspwing applied the burdock juices into some of Koisplash's more worrying wounds, and then covered them with thick cobwebs to keep them from bleeding anymore. While doing this, he listened to Maplefrost's snappy comment, and for once in his life he waited patiently for someone to finish talking before he stopped doing his (rather important) job to snap back at them. He limped over to Maplefrost and stared the older tom directly in the eye, chin raised.
"Let me tell you how this is gonna go. You're going to treat me with a morsel or more of respect from now on. Why? Because I'm the only one here that can successfully treat your rather large wounds. And I can gladly refuse not to if I choose. We can lie to your Clan. Tell them we found you with Koisplash beside the hawk, or perhaps my efforts were not enough to keep you alive. You would, of course, be remembered honorably by your clan-mates, but I would know that you died because you couldn't be thankful for a sliver of a second to someone who could be willing to not only save your life, but make the process of healing comfortable." He snarled before turning back to his herb supply and grabbing some feverfew for Koisplash, just in case.

Maplefrost half-glared at Koisplash. It certainly felt as if he'd be here for moons. Maybe that was just deja-vu, but the senior tom had had nothing but drawn-out negative experiences in enemy territories. Of course... these cats wouldn't know about all that. Or would they? He couldn't remember if there had been a Gathering since his time as a prisoner, but the story sure had spread around IceClan. Perhaps RockClan and TreeClan had also gotten wind of it. Doubtful, but possible. It had been quite a long time since that incident, and everyone knew that what happened in a Clan did not necessarily stay in that Clan.
He turned abruptly to face the younger medicine cat, who had practically come nose-to-nose with him. Curling his lip, he growled as he met Waspwing's challenging gaze. Great CloudClan, this kitty sure was full of himself.
"My respect is earned. You lost most of it when you went frolicking onto IceClan territory before. And would you really dare to let a cat die when you must then face the judgement of CloudClan? I could have let your deputy die several times when that bird was after us, just as she could have done. Yet we tolerated each other for long enough to get the job done. I will tolerate you as well, provided that you keep your snark to yourself and get on with your job."

Ow, ow, ow. Koisplash could barely fight down a flinch at the stinging of the burdock juices now soaking into her wounds, and with the cobwebs wrapped around them, her limbs felt as stiff as wood. But she gritted her teeth, in case she whimpered. She was a deputy of an entire Clan who'd seen moons of battles; she could handle a little pain from herbs that were supposed to help her.
It didn't help that now, with Waspwing's snappy comment, he and Maplefrost were bound to argue. It was then that she exercised a tremendous level of self-restraint by refraining from cuffing Maplefrost around the ear, as she so badly wanted to do now. Did he pick fights with everyone outside of IceClan?
"Here's a new idea," Koisplash spat, whirling around abruptly to face Maplefrost. Her shoulder immediately started hurting again, but for once, she was able to ignore it. "Why don't you shut up for once? Nice way to tell him to 'keep his snark to himself and get on with his job' when you were the one snapping at him in the first place. Do you do that to everyone who looks at you funny? Keep shooting your mouth off and you might be too busy squabbling with him for either of you to notice until you bleed to death."

Waspwing glared back at the two cats, lip curling into another snarl. "Listen here you dimwitted twig, Medicine Cats have different boundaries than you warriors. We share herbs, we share news, we talk to each other. Are we best friends? No. But we meet...Mostly even half moon because that is a tradition, and we all tolerate each other, just like you claim to be doing. But when we tolerate each other, we do not snap at each other, we do not command each other around. You are the one that came into my den and snapped at me first." He growled, tail lashing wildly.
"And don't talk to me about the judgment of Cloudclan. They lost my respect when they took innocent cats from the Clans, both of ours just being apprentices as it is, and had them killed off just so they could survive. So no, I don't fear their judgment of me. Because as of right now, I don't think I'd like to join the ranks of such low spirits." He hissed, sitting down besides his herb storage.
"It's your choice. Either you can shut up and get healed, or continue your rude behavior and bleed out." He challenged, completely willing to let the Iceclanner bleed out before him.

| Agh. I'm alive, I promise. Motivation for VWW died over the holidays. Anyway, time to solve the crisis at hand~ |
The dilemma here was quite intense, and Maplefrost hesitated. The IceClanner could let his dignity be trampled on, and give in to the obnoxious medicine cat... or he could give the tabby the boxing on the ears he deserved, and probably bleed to death for it. Despite the fact that his shoulders were still dripping scarlet liquid, under normal circumstances he would have chosen the latter option. The senior warrior would never allow his pride to be battered and let the offender get away with it; dying seemed to be a much simpler choice. But this wasn't just about him. He had a mate and a son back at home. How would they react when they found out he'd died in enemy territory?
The decision ended up being made for the tom. He'd been about to snap back at the two cats and grudgingly allow the medicine cat to proceed, but instead his forelegs buckled quite abruptly. There was a thump as the big Maine Coon's jaw hit the ground. All of a sudden, the long-furred cat was sprawled out on the floor of the den, quite unresponsive to the world around him. He might have had a decent tolerance to pain, but after a certain amount of time spent bleeding, passing out wasn't exactly a choice.
There was still the question of whether the TreeClan medicine cat would let him die. Maplefrost clearly couldn't do anything in protest either way; he had been reduced to the equivalent of a large furry lump.

Well, that had happened rather quickly. It took a few moments of rapid blinking for Koisplash's mind to fully discern that yes, Maplefrost had collapsed, and was now lying on the den floor. Unconscious. Blood pooling from him. Before he'd even said anything in response to her and Waspwing's snappiness, no less.
She exhaled, shoulders sagging slightly. This wasn't exactly a surprise. She should've expected this, given how much blood they'd both lost. But with all the arguing and the tension beforehand, she'd forgotten about it all too easily. Maybe the blood loss had been affecting her brain activity, too. That would explain her lapses in judgement now.
The calico looked over at Waspwing. Of course, he seemed perfectly willing to just let Maplefrost bleed to death, as he'd threatened to do so just moments before. But now, confronted with the possibility of the tom actually bleeding to death, she wasn't so sure he'd go through with it. She could say all she wanted about his attitude, but he wasn't heartless and he was dedicated to his job.

It was almost scary at how careless Waspwing was now. He watched the Iceclan tom collapse without even raising an imaginary eyebrow. He glanced at Koisplash, who was now looking at him, and he sighed and got to his paws. "Well, now that it's nice and quiet I can actually do some work." He mumbled sarcastically as he trotted/hobbled over to his herb storage. "Koi be a dear and keep track of his breathing." He cooed as he fidgeted some herbs around before grabbing some more burdock and some tansy.
He quickly hobbled back over, bad leg covered with cobwebs, and he immediately began chewing the herbs into a gross poultice. He poured some juices into Maple's worse wounds and quickly covered them with cobwebs. "Alright, that's about that for the woundssss..." He mewed as he hobbled over to the cat's head, were he touched his nose to Maple's forehead area. "Hm, slight fever.."
Now he'd have to have someone collect feverfew, which he was out of.

Since Koisplash had next to no knowledge of herbs, other than the function of the basics such as poppy seeds and cobwebs, she understood what Waspwing was doing to Maplefrost right now as much as she would've understood him if he'd randomly started speaking Mandarin. But she listened to the unconscious IceClanner's breathing regardless. At the very least, it was still there. If it stopped at any point, then they'd have a problem, and possibly an angry elder after their heads.
"Do you need any more herbs?" she asked, still keeping an eye on Maplefrost.

(Didn't realize half of my last post was bolded until now. Oops)
Waspwing sighed and nodded. "Feverfew...But for now I..I could place wet moss, or maybe wet leaves, on him to cool him down.." He was rushing and panicking now, which was a horrible mix for a busy medicine cat like himself. He grabbed some moss from his store and dipped it in a little pool that I've now talked about enough for it to be real.
He trotted over to the Iceclanner and placed several strands of it on his head, side and neck. He glanced back at Koisplash, eyes dull. "I can only do so much for him, I hope you know that. And I hope to Cloudclan that Iceclan will know that, as well." He mewed grimly, looking back to Maplefrost, who seemed stable for the moment.
"He won't be fit for travel for at least a quarter moon. We need to send someone to Iceclan to tell them we have him here, and that he's alive." He murmured.

The calico watched Waspwing's movements, feeling a little on edge herself. She shifted her paws, enough to move them but too slight to disturb any wounds. Her ears twitched as he spoke again, and she only nodded, not trusting herself to speak. Koisplash didn't want to sound scared. Why would she be scared, anyway? He would survive, wouldn't he? And she didn't even care that much about him...yes, he'd saved her life, but she'd saved his as well, and that didn't mean he wasn't unpleasant to be around.
She sighed, straightening up slightly. "I could go," she said. "Once my injuries start getting better. Sending another warrior wouldn't work; only I was there when he got attacked. And I don't trust most of the others not to get into a fight with the IceClanners while they're there."
Well, it wasn't as if Koisplash hadn't her fair share of conflicts with other Clans, either, but she was a deputy representing an entire Clan. She knew how to be diplomatic and how to handle potential attacks; going to IceClan couldn't be any different.

Waspwing shook his head, for once disagreeing completely with his Deputy, and friend. "You won't be fit for a trek up a mountain, or even to one, for a while. But I agree that we can't just send..Anyone." He said, trailing off as he thought of cats that could actually go tell Iceclan about this and also be smart. He grinned as a few names popped into mind. "What about Scarhealer and Shadowbird? Obviously Scarhealer cannot speak, but she'd be a sensible warrior. She wouldn't attack the Iceclanners immediately, which can't be said for about half of the new warriors." He suggested quietly, giving a little shrug.
