Drip. Drip. Drip. Each drop of water, muddy from seeping through the shell of the log, landed squarely on the sandy she-cat's fur, a brown stain spreading like a plague. As soon as Lilyhaze woke, blinking in the dim light, she announced to no one in particular, "The roof's leaking again!" Less of a whisper and more of a shout, the complaint echoed eerily. "Meh whatever; everyone is probably up training anyway," she whispered sheepishly, her ears flattening against her head in embarrassment.

A drop of water on her nose prompted the grumpy cat to meander to the den entrance, stepping carefully around stray tails. She didn't dare venture out for fresh-kill in the downpour — "Imagine... rain in RockClan!" — for her heavy pelt would be sodden in seconds, so waited hungrily under shelter, colorless eyes gleaming nervously. Though the downright dampness of the situation irritated the warrior, her thick fur gave her an advantage over the biting cold, and as she huddled, pelt fluffed in extreme disarray, she searched the skies for any sign of sun.

Shoot, Foxy was the sun! She crouched low for a moment, then silently stalked. She wiggled her hindquarters, then sprinted to her bestie.

"Ayye, not yet!" he purred, giving her bestie a playful head bump before attempting to knock Lil down. Ha!

"Tell me Lil, when did you become such a wuss!" And with that, I reached to box her fingers.

"Blurgh!!" A strangled protest escaped Lilyhaze's pursed lips, and as she face planted into a mossy bed, she made a feeble attempt to flick Foxy with her tail, slightly damp, wet-cat-smelling fur sweeping through the air dangerously. "Watch out or I'll smother you, FireClan flea-bag!" The kit-like squeak, pitched so high even Lil flinched at it, sounded empty. "Mph, scratch that," the she-cat purred normally, a playful mood washing through her. Widening her eyes, she played the angle for all it was worth, "I've always been a wuss! Please don't hurt me, Oh Great and Mighty FireClan Warrior!"

"Well I am truly great and mighty, you see. Us FireClanners show no mercy though!" she hissed, laughingly. How she had missed these days of wrestling with Lil! She giggled and rolled into Lil's nest. She lay next to her, all four white paws in the air. This really reminded her of old times!

"Tell me, Lil, how much did you miss me?" she purred as she lay next to her best friend.

Lil relaxed and purred. "I missed you every day... it's not like I had any other friends, and — I mean — I can't just go around making new ones." She grinned crookedly at herself and laughed. "CloudClan forbid I talk to other cats," the tabby femme smirked. She narrowed her eyes and looked sideways at Foxy, tail flicking. She bit her lip indecisively, and admitted, "Well, I kind of disappeared too. I guess I just freaked out and had a mental break down; I ran away. No one noticed." She let out a pent up breath she hadn't realized she was holding and looked away, face burning. "I 'unno, I just feel kind of guilty for being so unreliable. Not for Gin and Sunny; they disappeared a while ago, but for the Clan. There are so few warriors and, well, I just don't want the kits to starve to death." Trying to lighten the mood, she added, "That would be kind of depressing."

Foxy looked at her white paws for a few absent moments, then finally released a sigh. She had missed Lil so much. Lil was Foxy's... Soulmate if you might. It had just seemed like they were quite destined to be best friends from the beginning. Foxy could always count on Lilyhaze to tell her how it was, and to comfort her. She supposed that Lil thought the same about her.

"These are RockClan's smallest numbers in moons... I swear there aren't six kittens in the nursery. I haven't seen the medicine cats since I've been back.. Or Sagefang for that matter. I barely saw Hawkstar today. Lil.. We're falling apart."

Foxtwist was unbelievable stressed about her return. Feeding the Clan wouldn't be a problem.. but having a Clan just might.

[[I'm sorry; this is going to be short — I'm having a mental heart attackkk.]]

"I know." Lilyhaze twisted her mouth into a frown. "I don't know what we can do about it, though. There haven't been ceremonies in moons. The kits that we have are practically warrior aged!"

Foxtwist nodded her head in agreement, and let out a small sigh. What could be done about this RockClan dilemma? LeafBare was coming, and if this didn't get sorted out, Foxy wasn't so sure the Clan would survive.

"I just don't know anymore.. and without Cloudy.." she started, choking back the quiver in her voice as she said their old best friend's name.

Lilyhaze bit her lip, downcast. The absence of ceremonies signified few apprentices; without apprentices the warrior force would weaken, meaning less prey. "I — " the tabby she-cat started, claws flexing. Suddenly, she blurted out, "I hate CloudClan! How could they take our friend away from us!?" She slapped her tail over her mouth and grunted, glancing surreptitiously at the slumbering hunks of cats. Deflated, the femme whispered, "I didn't mean that. I didn't really mean that. Cloudy is with CloudClan now. She'll be happy there. I know she won't forget about us. She can't. We're her friends — " the nonstop flow of murmurs, barely audible, turned into a suicide note — "I want to die, I want to die, I want to die..."

Foxtwist looked at Lilyhaze, her eyes dull. Every word that drifted from Lilyhaze's mouth summed up her entire mind. She hated CloudClan. How could a loving power do that to them? Making them participate in those cruel, hungry games? CloudClan was supposed to be there for support, for love, for protection. Well she was done with CloudClan.

Then, Lilyhaze uttered her suicidal thoughts. A small cry sounded from Foxtwist's throat. She buried her face in the other ginger's pelt, and whimpered. She didn't say a word, she just let the tears flow.

Then, abruptly, she looked up.

"You can't say that. You can't leave me here, alone. We already lost everyone else, Lil. We can't be without each other."

Lilyhaze was all she had left. Of course, she had mended her friendship with Talonfang, but she would never have the same kind if relationship with him that she had with Lil.

"You're all I have left," she whispered as she closed her eyes.

Lilyhaze trembled as her friend cried, narrowing her eyes angrily to keep in tears herself. To hide her emotions, she focused completely on wrapping her tail neatly around her paws. 'It's ironic,' she thought bitterly, 'that the one time it actually storms in RockClan is the day I voice my true feelings. Maybe CloudClan is punishing me.' She had to remind herself that she didn't care a fox-dung about what CloudClan thought.

When Foxy looked up, she was startled by her intensity. "Yeah, I guess you're right," she sighed, watching brownish water splash her white-socked paws. With a twisted frown, the tabby shrank down into the mud, crouching like a stray cat, a Clan-less cat, an abused cat — which, technically she was. RockClan was dead to her; CloudClan had never been there to support her through rough patches in life — just a kittenish fantasy. "Don't worry," she mewed, attempting a light tone, "I'm not going anywhere."
