"Want to check the fresh-kill pile?" the apprentice suggested. "If we're lucky, there might be some birds from the hunting patrols that came back earlier." He stepped out of the den once more and headed for the stock of prey.

Honeypaw ran ahead of him and picked out a rather large sparrow."Would this do?"She asked her voice muffled by the bird in her mouth.

<< Uhh, a shrew isn't a bird. It's a type of rodent. I'll pretend that she picked out a bird until you edit it? >>
Harshpaw nodded approvingly at the bird that Honeypaw was holding in the air. "That looks great! It'll probably be easiest to pluck out the feathers before we eat it. Let's take it back to the den." He turned around, walking into the den for the thousandth time.

He sat down next to Honeypaw and began plucking out the sparrow's feathers carefully, making a small pile of them nearby.
"These are soft; they should be great for the nests," he commented as he worked.

Honeypaw started plucking out feathers too with her small quick paws."Very true so umm what do you prefer,Hunting or Fighting?"She asked because she might as well make conversation as they plucked feathers.

"I haven't gotten very far in my training, but I think I like hunting the most so far. How about you?" He soon finished plucking feathers, and sat back with a glance at the pile that he had created.

"Really? No one ever showed you how to battle? But you need to know that in case there's ever an invasion." Frowning slightly in concern, he added some of the feathers to his own nest.

Finally, it looked like his nest was finished. Harshpaw allowed himself a moment of pride in his efforts before replying to the other apprentice.
"Wow, you're really behind, then. It's not fair that you have to wait because of your mentors."

"Maybe you could talk to Beechstar about it? I'm sure he'd understand," Harshpaw meowed.
Wow, his nest was looking really comfortable after all that hard work. Maybe he'd have to test it out.

"They sure do; we did nice work." The young cat smiled. "I'm actually a little worn out from all that effort."
