Honeypaw padded into the apprentice den and drew a shaky breath feeling surpised at the sight of something familiar. She padded over to the back of the den and found her old nest which was now a dusty, dirty pile of moss. She picked it up and got rid of it thinking to herself 'Out with the old and in with the new'

A small apprentice had been sleeping nearby when the motion of another cat disturbed his nap. Pale green eyes blinked open, and Harshpaw saw a tabby cat getting rid of an old nest. He gave himself a little shake to wake himself up, stretching as he got to his paws.
"Hello," the blue-grey tom greeted. "Is it den cleaning day? No one told me," he commented with a twitch of his ears. "I'm Harshpaw, by the way." He glanced down at his own nest, which was in need of some fresh moss. Maybe he'd clean it out later.

"Nice to meet you too, Honeypaw. Nice name." He grinned in a friendly manner.
"Moss? I'm not really sure. How about if we take a look around the outside of camp? There's bound to be a good place somewhere, and I need to clean out my nest too." Harshpaw headed toward the den entrance and slipped out into the clearing, tail twitching as an indication for the other apprentice to follow. Hopefully they wouldn't get yelled at for leaving camp... it was just for a moment to find fresh bedding.

Honeypaw returned his smile but she was starting to wonder why this apprentice was being so helpful. She followed him and she smirked when she saw he was heading her out of camp but she quickly stop smirking.

In truth, Harshpaw didn't really have any ulterior motives for being helpful... he just liked being friendly. As he padded out of camp, the little apprentice turned to his right and spotted a mossy oak tree. "Hey, look at that! Maybe we can take moss from there," he suggested. Thick, lush moss grew among the roots. He approached the tree and sniffed at it, testing for moisture.

"Hmm that looks like good moss eh?"Honeypaw purred with a smile on her face. She usually wasn't friendly but since Harshpaw was being so nice she decided she should repay the favor.

"Sure does! I think it'll work. It's nice and dry, too. No wet pelts for us!" Pleased with his discovery, Harshpaw began collecting strips of the lush moss. "Maybe we can even find some feathers too," he mused while he worked.

Soon Harshpaw straightened up. "I think that should be enough," he meowed as he examined the heap of moss that he had collected. "How about if we go back? We can always get more later." Grabbing the bundle in his jaws, he padded back toward the camp entrance.

The small cat twitched his ears and brushed back into the den. "Tired, or am I just boring you?" he asked in reference to the yawn. Not stopping his work to wait for a reply, Harshpaw began removing the old moss from his nest.

"That doesn't sound like it was very fun," he sympathized. "At least now you'll be able to sleep comfortably." Harshpaw finished removing the old bedding and pushed it aside to take out of the den later. He quickly tucked the fresh moss into the nest and sat back to examine his work.
