A small apprentice nosed his way into the medicine cats' den, hopping on three paws to avoid putting weight on the fourth. He sat down after a brief hesitation and glanced about uncertainly. "Uh... hello? Anyone in here?" Harshpaw called. Raising his right forepaw, he examined the small cut on the pad. He'd been exploring the territory with his mentor when he'd sliced it on a sharp stone near the RockClan border. The injury wasn't awful, but it was pretty deep and he wanted to make sure it wouldn't get infected. Hopefully it wouldn't be too much trouble for the medicine cats...

Waspwing padded over to the large apprentice and huffed. "I don't really think I want to know what happened...But tell me." He muttered as he examined the cut on his paw, which seemed to be rather dirty. With a small roll of his eyes, which he made sure to keep to himself, he hobbled over to his moss store and then wetted some down in the pool. "Here, I have to clean the cut so it doesn't get infected." He explained as he padded back over to he blue-grey (ithink) tom. "It may sting a little, but it's something I have to do, alright?"

The undersized Russian Blue looked up when he heard a gruff voice. "Oh, hello!" He nodded a polite greeting to the tabby cat. "I was exploring with Spokensong and I cut my pad on a rock. I tried to keep the dirt out of it, but I walked all the way back and I think some must have gotten in." In spite of the stinging, Harshpaw tried to stay cheerful. He twitched his ears and held out the paw as Waspwing returned with some dripping moss.
"I'm not gonna have to stop training for a while, right?" the blue-grey cat asked anxiously. If anything, he didn't want to delay things just because he had gotten a little clumsy.

Waspwing finished cleaning out the cut and quickly applied some tansy/burdock juices to ease pain, stop infection and that other good stuff. The apprentices' comment made him shake his head as he stepped back to go grab cobwebs. "No, this isn't too terrible. Stay off the paw as much as possible for the rest of today, and come back to me tomorrow evening. If the cut has started healing and isn't infected, you should be able to train again afterwards. If it does start getting infected, then I'll give you some more herbs and delay training for a few days." He explained softly as he applied a small wad of cobwebs to the paw, almost making a sock around it.
"Alright, that should be good for now, unless you want poppy seeds to help with any pain."

Harshpaw flinched a little as he felt the herbal juices dripping into the cut. He had absolutely no idea what the herbs were, but he couldn't help wondering how the medicine cat kept them all straight. Weren't there poisonous plants too? What if Waspwing accidentally grabbed one of those one day? It was a little frightening to realize that the tabby cat could probably kill just as easily as he could heal. But he wouldn't do that, right? He wasn't anything like that foolish Briarpelt.
The blue-grey male nodded in response to the instructions. He spoke as cobwebs were being wrapped around the paw. "Okay. I guess I'll be hanging out in the apprentices' den tonight... and I think I should be fine without poppy seeds. Thanks."
It looked like Waspwing was done. The apprentice stood back up on three legs and gingerly began to hop out of the den.
