The little white tom shook violently as a powerful sneeze overcame him, and he waited for a moment before crawling deeper into the sweet-smelling den. He had never met Forestbreak or Clovepetal before, but he had heard they were both very nice, and very gentle. In the beginning of the night he simply had a little bit of a runny nose, which didn't bother him, but it quickly escalated into a rather flowing nose and sneezing, which had woken him up. It was now just before dawn, and the weather seemed to be reflecting his mood, rainy and grim.
He had never actually been sick before, so he was a little frightened by his cold, especially since he had heard stories of something called green-cough, which sounded very scary. He padded into the heart of the den, looking around for who he thought were Forest and Clove, but was unsuccessful. "Hello? Forestbreak? Clovepetal? I think I have green-cough." He whimpered.

Forestbreak sighed as she stood up from her nest and padded over to the sneezing kit. Her brow knitted as she stared down at him, gray tail twitching and eyes squinted. "Greencough, huh? Now, how does a little kit like you know about greencough? Stories, I presume. Don't worry too much. If you do have greencough, it's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. You're still on your feet and coherent, so that's a good sign," commented the medicine cat.
"What are your symptoms? Are you coughing? How badly? Are you congested?" she asked, rattling off questions quickly. The kit seemed a little bit nervous. She could understand, and hoped that she was giving off a comforting air. She doubted she was, though. Eh, it wasn't the end of the world if he experienced some anxiety early in life. It might toughen him up a bit.
Forestbreak chuckled to herself, then hastily covered her mouth with her tail to stifle it.

Cloudkit listened to Forestbreak quietly, giving little smiles when she sounded a little positive, but he couldn't help but worry. Her question about symptoms kind of confused him, considering he didn't know what being congested was. "Uh..Well, I have the sneezing, and I have the feeling to cough every so often, but the worst part is that my throat and chest feel cloggy and gross, like there's some prey or something lodged in there." He explained quietly, looking at his paws as he fidgeted them on the ground.

Forestbreak nodded thoughtfully and swiped her tongue over her paw as he listed his symptoms. The tom seemed a bit uncomfortable, maybe as a result of her barrage of questions. I really need to stop doing that with kits, she thought.
"Sounds like greencough, unfortunately," she mewed, flicking her ears. "I'm sorry, buddy. Don't worry about it, though. I have plenty of herbs that'll get you fixed right up," the medicine cat reassured him. "Wait just a second." She padded to the back of the den and began selecting some herbs from her storage. Catmint to fight off the virus and cough. Coltsfoot to help him breathe. With the herbs in her mouth, she padded back to him and set them down. First, she pushed the coltsfoot in front of him. "This will help you breathe better through all the gunk in your throat, okay? It's not going to taste good, though, so eat up quickly."
