(For the magimawesical Jayfoot) White fur stood out against dark shadows as hesitant paws approached the den. With uncertain blue eyes, a shy apprentice stood at the entrance to her new den. She glanced around, looking for anyone sure of this den that she might possibly know, but the only one she knew was Jaypaw, for no-one else would interact with the jumpy she-cat unless they were laughing at her, which they did a lot. Unfortunately, Jaypaw was nowhere to be seen, or was he?

Jaypaw was freely snoring in his sleep, his body haphazardly laying on top of his nest. His fur was a mess, but at least he was asleep. Jay turned over in his sleep for the tenth time of the day, and ended up on the hard floor, causing him to jolt awake and upright.
"Wha--" he mumbled, cutting himself off with a yawn. He licked down his fur, riled himself to stand, and headed out the den. What a surprise to see a familiar face though as he made his way out.
Jay grinned. "Hey there, love. Nice to see you!"

Dovepaw let out a purr when she saw her friend. I'm Dovepaw now she mewed proudly, her eyes bright now that she was around her friend. And as my new den-mate, you must show me where I may sleep in our wonderful den she purred, nudging him with her soft white head and somewhat grinning. At least now she had a friend in this den. "Woah really? Nice! Now you get to go out into territory, just like you wanted that day," he purred gleefully. All the previous drowsiness he felt earlier was now drained from his system.
A deep chuckle rumbled in his throat at the physical affection given to him by the white female. "Alright then. Shall we, milady?"

Dovepaw let out a sweet purr Absolutely correct!. At his words, she just had to laugh, flicking her tail she let out a purr and nudged him affectionately. Consider it shall-ed she laughed, ducking her head to him and following him in the den.

Jaypaw's eyes wandered the area, trying to find an unoccupied nest. He found one a few nests away from his and he walked over. "Here you are, milady. Hopefully nobody tells you that you've stolen their space and force you into making one your own," he teased lightly. The calico sat down and licked his paw absently. "So princess, how have you been? Did you meet your mentor on your ceremony? I hope you did."

Dove sat down in an unoccupied nest, their was no cat-scent on it currently other than her's, so it can't have been someone else's nest. Shrugging, she shook her head. No, Hailstorm didn't even show up for the ceremony, I haven't even started training yet, not even seen the territory or anything. She gave a dismissive flick of her ear. The nest she'd chosen the closest one to his nest, though she didn't know, there were so many overwhelming scents in here, and she didn't want to go round sniffing everyone's nests. Oh well, Moonpool has great storied to listen to, and Jetkit is still pretty fun. She shrugged again and smiled at him, meeting his gaze with her own soft blue one.

Anger surged through the tom. He glared at the floor, suddenly getting worked up for Hailstorm not showing up at the ceremony. It was mostly anger for himself though. If he had been there Dovepaw wouldn't have been alone and cats wouldn't have looked at her weirdly for having an absent mentor. He swished his tail in frustration and sighed. He came up to the she-cat and nudged the top of her head, resting his chin there. "I'm sorry I couldn't come. If I had been a better friend I would've saved you from that. I'm so sorry. I promise I'll be here every time you need me to be."
Jaypaw slowly backed up and sat down, looking at his paws in shame for a moment before giving her a smile. "Moonpool's a great elder. I haven't met Jetkit yet, though. I hope she's nice."

Dovepaw watched his antics sadly, knowing exactly what was going through his mind. As he rested his chin on her, she pressed her head into his chest. Your a great friend, it wasn't your fault, but my mentors fault and my own fault. She smiled at his words and closed her bright blue eyes. I know you will, and I'm glad of that she purred sweetly, opening her eyes and straightening her head as he backed up. Yes, Jetkit is great, I think she might be Jetpaw now, I haven't seen her for ages though. She shook her head and beamed at him. She's nowhere near as good of a friend as you though! she purred, her eyes shining as she gaze upon her now best friend.

Jaypaw sighed. "But still, I should have been there for you. I feel lousy for not being there," he mewed, pouting just a little in shame. He shook his head to dismiss the depressing thoughts from his head and jumped back on his paws. The sudden action had stirred some loose moss from his nest. They flew into the air, one landing on his nose. His eyes crossed as they tried to follow the small green substance - and he sneezed.
A laugh bubbled out of the tom. He rubbed his paw on his nose and briefly rested it there before looking back to Dovepaw. He gave her a sheepish grin. "Woops," he mumbled. At her comment, his amber eyes brightened up again. "I'm certainly not the best, but it's good to know that I'm a good friend of yours, Dove."
