Practically radiating happiness, an undersized blue-grey tom stepped into the den. He'd been waiting ages for the moment when he would finally become a warrior. Now that he had his new title, the future seemed full of exciting opportunities.
Harshflame set down the wad of moss he'd been carrying, and looked around the den. The sun would be setting soon. He wanted to make his nest now, so that he'd be able to crash after his vigil that night.
Another cat caught his eye, and the Russian Blue turned with a smile. "Hi. Can I make my nest anywhere?" he asked.

Moonshine had been asleep on her nest resting her injuries which were still a little sore when a familiar voice reached her ears. 'Harshpaw?' She thought as she opened one of her emerald green eyes. There he was just as she had thought, but wait was he asking to make a nest here? Well I guess I must of been asleep or out of camp during his ceremony. Oh well, i guess it will be kind of nice to have another cat that she knew in the den.
Moonshine stood up and looked at the younger tom with a smile. "Oh of course you can, and it's nice to see you again." She winced as she shifted her wieght, the injury on her leg beginning to hurt once more as she put her wieght on it.

He recognized the silver and white cat, and grinned. It had indeed been quite a while since they'd last talked. Then again, the Clan was pretty big... so it was hard to talk to everyone on a regular basis. "Hey Moonshine, good to see you too. I'm Harshflame now," the small feline purred. He was about to pick up his moss and move it to a nice spot when he noticed that the older female seemed to be in pain.
"Are you alright?" Harshflame asked with a small frown. Moonshine did look a little scratched up. Something must have happened - and it seemed a bit too coincidental that Treepaw had also been injured the last time he'd seen her. Had there been a fight at the border? The blue-grey tom was surprised that no one had said anything about an attack yet.

Moonshine gave the younger tom a small smile as she sat, curling her tail around her paws. She had known someone would eventually notice and decided to just play it cool as if it were really nothing.
"Oh I'm fine now, it was just do to a badger attack the other day."
Suddenly her green eyes lit up as she realized that he had said his new name, too.
"Oh and congrats on the new name. Harshflame, it really suites you."

Harshflame hadn't been expecting that. "A badger?" he repeated, clearly worried now. "So that's why a few cats look like they got into a fight recently. What happened to it - did you manage to chase it off, or is it still a threat?" Seeing as he wasn't a huge tomcat who was great at fighting, it would be trouble if he ran into that beast while out hunting. Forget about trying to drive it off; the Russian Blue would be crowfood in a matter of heartbeats.
Moonshine's comment about his warrior name took a few seconds to register with his half-panicked mind. "Thanks," he managed to meow in a slightly calmer tone. "Littlepool said that she originally named me Harsh after the Great Fire, so it fits."

Her green eyes studied the tom clearly seeing that the idea of a badger being anywhere in the territory had unnerved him. And why shouldn't it. She herself could remember stumbling upon the creature, and she had had three other cats there with her.
"Oh your welcome, and don't worry about the badger it ran off, and I even believe that there was a patrol sent out to make sure it was really gone. So it's nothing to worry about now."
She was still looking at Harshflame when her leg began to ache again. Moonshine looked down at her injured foreleg with a look of annoyance. The leg didn't pain her as it did a few days ago, but it was still pretty sore, and Moonshine hated not being able to run or climb like she used to until the leg healed.

The Russian Blue took a deep breath, forcing his fur to lie flat. "Good thing you drove it off, but I'm not sure that it won't come back. I've heard that badgers can be vengeful," he meowed, clearly still nervous about the whole thing.
In an attempt to put the subject out of his mind, the new warrior took his nest supplies to an empty space near the edge of the den. Unwrapping the bundle, he grasped some bracken in his jaws and began weaving the nest shell.
Harshflame decided to change the topic. "So what did you do during your vigil? I'm trying to figure out how I'll stay awake through mine," the small cat commented.

She smiled at his question, remembering that night fondly. The silver she cat turned to him and said.
"Oh how did I stay awake during my vigil? Well I have always loved to watch the night sky, and just to look at the world when it is at it's most peaceful."
Moonshine sighed as she remembered that night as she sat alone watching over the camp, how proud she felt. If only she could go back to that day where she didn't have badgers or other Clans to worry about. To just be alone in the dark, with all of the night's stars to herself.

His ears twitched as he continued to work on the nest. "I guess that sounds pretty nice. But I'm supposed to be guarding, right? I don't think I could stare at the sky and watch for intruders at the same time," Harshflame meowed hesitantly. Sure, he liked the idea of watching the stars, but that should probably be left to his free time. His duty as sentry for the night was more important. Besides, who knew what would happen if someone caught him slacking off while he was supposed to be doing his vigil? The blue-grey tom suppressed a shiver. He wanted to get a good reputation now that he was a warrior.
Harshflame finished weaving the bracken together, then carefully arranged the moss. Stepping back, he glanced over his new nest with a satisfied nod. It would be more than sufficient for his post-vigil nap. "That should do," he murmured half to himself.

Moonshine nodded her head as she watched him finish weaving his new nest. She herself had begun to feel weary as the sky outside began to darken ever so slightly. Curling her tail around her paws she simply looked at Harshflame and smiled, her green eyes shining.
"Well I guess your right if you look at it that way, but I'm sure you'll do great tonight regardless."
Moonshine turned and padded over to her nest, which was only a little ways away from the gray warrior's. Curling up in the soft moss and braken, she rested her head on her paws, neither asleep or really awake. Her green eyes were really just gazing past the den entrance watching the day tick away with an unwavering gaze.

The new warrior mentally pushed away his concerns. Moonshine was probably right; besides, with all his fretting, he'd probably be unable to fall asleep anyway. That was a slight relief.
"Are you tired?" Harshflame asked. "I should probably go get ready for my vigil anyway." Dusk had fallen on the camp; the last rays of sunlight were fading away. With a friendly nod of farewell to the silver-and-white female, he turned and slipped out of the den.
