Prologue
"Quiet, I love you all. I hope someone finds you, and raises you. You are all I love." Lily's familiar voice faded to the wild dogs. Her calm voice turned into aggressive barking.
Cries rose from her mother's voice. Her sweet and calming scent faded. "Did she have pups with her?" One of the voices growled. "I don't smell any" another voice responded. Kilo looked towards her, doubting that their mother was alive. They all curled up for warmth against the cold wind. She closed her eyes, hoping the nightmare would end.
Feeling like she was off the ground, the young pup opened her eyes. She looked down to see her hind paws almost dragging on the ground. She looked to her right to see Sun and to her left, Kilo, both being carried by different dogs. The dog who was carrying her ducked, and her belly began to rub on the grass. She was still being carried and she smelled the dogs with her siblings was following. Light finally filled her eyes again as she saw a large group of dogs.

A cold breeze swirled the fallen leaves around the clearing. A shadow casted in front of the nursery's entrance. A young pup shifted her sleeping position, ignoring her surroundings. A battle cry sounded from outside the bush that she slept in, awakening she, her mother and siblings. She immediately lifted her head and narrowed her eyes at the bush entrance. Wild dogs. She heard the thunder of the wild dogs' paws, barking and growling. The pup was lifted by her mother, Lily, also grabbing her brother, Kilo and her sister Sun. Lily ran to the back of the bush, placing the three pups in the brambles.
