It was just before dawn, and all was silent in DeathClan's territory. Most cats weren't even awake. However, one youngling had decided to go on an early-morning exploration. This wasn't such a good idea in practice.
The white-and-brown tom had caught sight of a mouse in a dangerous area of the swamp. Naturally, being new to this territory, Vortex wasn't aware of the danger. He knew only that there was prey here, and he hadn't eaten in a few days.
He pounced, and managed to snag the rodent by its tail. However, the youthful feline let out a sharp cry of alarm when his paws began to sink into the marshy ground. The mouse wrenched itself free of Vortex's grasp and scuttled away, while the cat thrashed in a vain attempt to free himself.
It's no good. I'm just getting even more stuck. If no one's around, this is the end of it. I'll keep getting sucked in until this muck covers my head and I die.

Vale awoke and exited his den. The russian blue made his way towards the swamp to try and find something to eat today. It probably wasn't the greatest idea to go hunting in such a mucky place but the tomcat decided to come here anyway. He could probably find more since other cats were probably hunting elsewhere.
He heard a cry and he flicked an ear. "What the Darkpool?" He followed the sound and soon he found himself watching a young cat sink into the depths of muck. "Oh for crying out loud. This is oddly laughable and sad at the same time.." He rolled his eyes and attempted to pick up the young cat by the scruff and drag him out of the mud.
"If you are going to let a little muck run you down you'll never make it as a DeathClan cat, brat." He grinned. "Get your act together kid. You've got a bigger and muckier road ahead of you." He sat down and his blue eyes wavered towards the brown and white tomcat as they narrowed. "Don't think I did that because I'm a nice guy. I only did that because DeathClan needs members. Drought needs the activity. I don't usually do favours for other cats." He rose to his paws.

Vortex bristled when fresh cat-scent reached his nose. Was this feline here to help, or would they decide to leave him to drown? Worse yet, it was possible that the new arrival would push him deeper into the muck or something along those lines. The youngling's imagination was freely exploring the possibilities, and many of them were terrifying. He didn't want to die at this age.
He tried to twist around to see the DeathClanner, and spotted a blue-grey tom out of the corner of one eye. The older cat appeared to be mocking him. Vortex's eyes widened in fear as Vale stepped nearer and nearer. He flinched when he felt teeth on his skin, but realized that this tom was actually trying to help him. But why? He didn't trust any stranger, even if they appeared to have good intentions at first.
Moments later, he had been tugged free of the bog, and immediately darted off. No way was he going to stick around and chat with that frightening-looking cat. Though he was slowed by the mud clinging to his body, Vortex was still swift as he attempted to make his getaway into the forest.

[ too lazy to post in Dove's format. EDIT : intentionally to post before Vortex's previous post]
It was not common for the tabby to be wandering around the territory especially after the flooding of her home the last moon, so now she was just a nomad. Anywhere could be her home, and for this week, she chose the swamps. Not much to look forward to, since everything was practically a wasteland, but wasn't that the majority of the rest of the territory?
As she was making her morning walk trying to memorize the territory as much as possible, she could not help but to notice two figures, one dragging the other. Vale, one she discovered from the clan meeting, and a younger cat she did not yet know. Did a battle recently end or something? She crawled a bit closer, trying to get a hearing of what was going on and somehow came to the conclusion that Vale was just helping the youngling out.
"Though sometimes life threatening experiences do help one learn what to avoid." she chimed in, finally revealing herself to the other two. "What did he even do?" she asked Vale, watching the youngling flee from the embarrassing scene.

"Life threatening. Since when has dirt and grime become lesson-worthy though?" He scoffed with a small grin. He watched the younger tomcat flee. "Oh they always run.. They don't get to know the real me." He joked and rose to his paws with a yawn. "Oh, well he was 'drowning' per say in the swamp. I thought I'd avoid losing a possible DeathClan member, but the little thing turned out to be a brat after all. Not even staying to learn the name of his hero." He lashed his tail playfully though his eyes narrowed. "Up for a chase, hmm?" He inquired.
"Let's see who can catch the little drowning rabbit." He darted off after Vortex. This was indeed just for a little teasing fun. He was bored anyhow so a little chase seemed like an interesting idea. Although this probably appeared like much less then a game of tag to Vortex.
"Calm your legs deary!" He hurried after him with another small grin forming.

"Well, the cat will remember to avoid the swamp next time I would presume." she replied ignoring his sarcasm, asking the next question without any prior knowledge of this tom's history with Fireclan. "What is the real you, Vale? Some secret hardcore worshipper of the clans or something?" She smirked at the idea of the tom possibly believing in Cloudclan and took note of what he had said about not even thanking him. Well, any cat who would not know one another would think of each other as a mass murderer.
As she was about to say something else, she was prompted to respond to Vale's request for a chase. Dove was not one who was fond of seeing others struggle, but what other way would be a pleasure to remember the territory? Without much haste, the tabby followed, trying to catch up to the respected tom. And the little runt if one would call him that.
What a pity. The little thing doesn't stand a chance to what's going to happen.

As he ran, Vortex heard the sounds of pursuing pawsteps and glanced over his shoulder. There was not one, but two cats running after him. Not having expected anyone to actually chase him, the youngling panicked and began to flat-out sprint. This attempt to escape the two adults was short-lived, however. One of his paws was caught by a waterlogged tree root, and this sent Vortex sprawling on the ground.
Wincing, the brown-and-white cat attempted to get up and continue running, but a sharp pain from his paw forced Vortex to reconsider. The young tom flattened his ears, unable to do anything as he waited for Vale and Dove to find him.
