Chloe, with one final push, hefted the Mer onto the land. She quickly took into account that she was having trouble on land, and climbed out of the water, rushing to where the water mask was. Showing the mer first to show she meant to harm, Chloe attempted to strap the breathing mask into place.

Coral looked back to where Shard was pointing, and noticed with a jolt of alarm and relief that Jinta had been helped up onto land. "Oh, that? The're trying to help her, Jinta, I mean. She was injured and the humans want to help. That female seems to know the language I was telling you about, and that's how we've been communicating. Through her." Cral turned back to Shard, wondering what his reply would be.

Shard shook his head. That wasn't what he meant. He pointed to himself, then to the surface of the water above, and shrugged. He was trying to show that he wasn't sure that he should go to the surface to show that he was okay, and to make sure that nobody was getting hurt. This was one of the many times that he wished he could talk again. Though he was used to it, it was pretty frustrating to be misunderstood so much. Around friends, it was easier, since they usually knew what he would say given a certain situation.

"Oh!" Coral remarked. "I can just tell them your alright if you want. Unless you prefer being completely unknown?"

The material of the white-sheet was dry and itchy and unfamiliar, but she appreciated the wet-sheets thrown over her, more easy and comfortable. The weight continued to press down on her, and everything seemed brighter, more saturated--the ceiling seemed a blinding white, her tail, flopping lifeless just in her view if she twisted her neck a bright, neon-ish blue with a shiny silver tinge. Had it always been like that? Edges were blurry and lines were sharp--like the line of the round, unfamiliar two-tail object coming towards her face... In a gasp of quick movement, she attempted to swat the thing away. Her eyes, already wild with panic, widened, and she attempted to push herself away. "No," she whispered, trying to keep her side still, and forgetting of the language barrier between the two species. . . . "Oh!" Dr. Wilder said with his eyebrows raised, mildly comical and the boss's reprimand. "Terribly sorry, Dr. Davenport." He approached the mer with no reluctance, kneeling to grasp a side of the stretcher. "Where are we taking her, exactly?" (no human muse. )

Chloe frowned. She knew this mer might not be able to hold out above water for long, and also knew that she couldn't communicate with that one because of the language barrier they both had. So, turning to the red mer near/at (?) the surface that also seemed to know a touch of sign language, she made fluent gestures meaning, Tell her this will help her breath, and added a pointing to the mask. It wont her her. Please.

(bumping this up with an unnecessary post because this thread died and i loved it)
The female human seemed to be trying to communicate with Allure, still in the water, with the hand gestures-- the 'sign language.' Panicky, she lifted her tail to let it flop back down, pressing her hands over her mouth and guarding her face instinctively.

(Ima just die from utter shame. I think I was supposed to post.) Allure gave a nod before looking back at Jinta and waving her arms. "It's not going to hurt you, I promise, it's gonna make it easier to breath!" she called out, hoping the mer had heard her. *** Tristan had run up ahead, back into the lab, making sure to prepare everything for the silver mer's arrival. Right now he was lowering the tank into the ground so it was easier to put the mer inside (because he totally has tech like that). ***
Shard rolled his eyes. Maybe communicating with other mers was gonna be harder than he thought. She had no idea what he was trying to say. Apparently it didn't matter, though, since after a moment she had shot up to the surface, leaving him behind. While most of him wanted to stay behind and safe, preferably in that cave again, the young teen was still intrigued. He wanted to know what was going on up there, just as much as he didn't. After a short while, his face became serious and he swam up.

(YAY ACTION don't die nightsong we need u fur dis) ACcording to Allure, the two-tail face-mask was designed to help her breathe. Surely it would work differently than breathing water? Oxygen and panic were becoming a problem, and she squeezed her eyes tight and removed her hands from her mouth, allowing the female two-tail to place the contraption over her pale nose and thin mouth. Her neck hurt, but she didn't want to look up at the bright lights, so she kept it to the side, watching the water and trying to calm down, she couldn't seem to stop moving her arms, fiddling with each other, touching her face, guarding her side as if the two-tails would try and harm it somehow. Through a somewhat blocked vision, she could just barely see another mer surfacing--a purple mer, a male? But-- She tried to twist a bit, easily sidetracked, but remembered her injury but a moment too soon. She bit her lip, still trying to catcha glimpse of him, but he wasn't close enough to the surface to discern details. . . . Dr. Wilder grasped the stretcher, curiously watching the male mer emerge a bit from his little hidout. It was difficult to see through the murky water, but he was clearly violet and small. "On 3?" he asked Chloe languidly, returning his gaze to the mer on the stretcher, who wouldn't stop moving. He smacked her hand away as it brushed near his nose--what, was she having a seizure? She pulled her whole arm close to her, staring at him reproachfuly, and he rolled his eyes, turning to his colleague. "She startled me--I didn't mean to hit her," he excused.

Chloe relaxed slightly when the mer allowed her to apply the breathing mask, and soon it began to pump oxygen-ready water through itself and towards the mer's mouth. It was designed to help the mers breath water, and Chloe hoped it would work. But when her colleague knocked the mer's hand away, Chloe resisted the urge to squeeze his throat. Casting a quick sympathetic and apologetic glance at the injured female, the doctor returned her sight towards Dr. Wilder, her eyes cold with anger. "If you're going to be so frightened by her hand maybe you shouldn't have taken this job, hm?" Nodding for them to lift after a quick counting, Chloe lifted her end of the stretcher, hopping the other end would be grasped as well.

Dr. Wilder nearly scowled at the floor, but caught himself in time to not look like a spoiled child. Doing his best to look apologetic and gracious, he said, "It was but a reflex. handling the mere on land is a new experience for me--I apologize for being a bit on edge." His eyebrows creased into a slight frown as he added, "I assure, I am more than capable of handling this job." Not waiting for her to respond, he nodded at her counting and lifted the stretcher. She didn't weigh much--she was fairly young, and fairly small. 'To the lab?" he inquired, nodding to where Dr. Davenport had disappeared off to. . . . [/i] Surprised at the water that flowed through the water into her mouth through the mask, she relaxed, fidgeting nervously. Above her, the two humans were talking and she squeaked the tiniest bit when the white-cloth was lifted, not used to such quick and fluid movement. She still felt terribly heavy, and she gripped the edges of the white-cloth, closing her eyes.

Chloe nodded, shuffling forwards in the direction of the lab down the stairs. "Lift it above you're head here, so she doesn't slide off," the doctor instructed.

(oh, don't say that. I'm sure you've made lazier >.< i know i have--ONE LINERS) Jinta let out a shuddery breath as she felt the white-sheet rise even higher, not allowing herself to turn. She had never had to be afraid of heights before, but this whole new sense of a gravity--and the ability to fall--gave her a slightly new perspective of things. She turned her head to the female, who seemed nicer than the largest male, at least. Caught up in the thrill of the moment, she once again forgot the language barrier, and exhaled, "Where are you taking me?" Her skin felt dry, her scales especially, and she lifted a hand to the silver-blue scales on her neck and collarbone, rubbing at them. They were paper-thin in this sterile air, and itchy. . . . Julian nodded silently, lifting the stretcher easily over his head--well, a bit lower than that, since he was taller than the woman and that would have unbalanced the stretcher. As they lowered it a bit once off the stairs, the mer turned her head away from him and made a strange sort of sound, muffled through the water-mask. It was a bit like song, but less melodic and more chaotic. It's sounds almost sounded English, but in a foreign sort of way that was unexplainable. "Does she think we speak Mermish?" he said, mildly exasperated, yet amused. Quite interesting specimens...

Chloe flashed a look at Tristan. "No, probably just babble" she said simply, then turned towards the mer, knowing it was more of a question by the raised end of the last word, similar to human speech. Figuring she would want to know where she was being taken if she was held hostage by these creatures, she assumed that was what the mer was asking. Smiling, Chloe pointed towards the back of the wall, where a set of double doors were open in anticipation for the mer's arrival.

(What the-?! Echo, did you just steal Tristan from me?! o.O? PETAL DIDN'T YOU REMEMBER TRISTAN IS MIINNEE?! WHY U RESPOND TO SOMEBODY WHO WASN'T THERE AND DIDN'T DO ANYTHING? WUT?) (The real) Tristan had lowered the tank already and was trying to get everything set for the examination. He waited anxiously for the other two scientists to bring her in. He had already opened the double doors that led to the lab in order to make it easier for them to get inside. He really hoped that nothing really bad had happened since he had last checked. ***
Shard had caught the eyes of the mer who had been on the white...sheet...thing...before she had disappeared around the corridor. She seemed a bit distressed, and the young teen wondered what had been going on up here before he arrived. He spotted the red mer he had seen earlier. She looked a bit more scary and battle-ready than the others, however. He didn't want to make her mad. His fins were designed to lure prey, not for speed or battle, and though he had claws and fangs, they still weren't well developed. He followed Coral again, poking her on the shoulder and trying to get her attention before pointing in the direction of where the humans had just disappeared. What's going on?

|Oh meh gawd I'm so confused|
Coral turned, her face calm. "I think they're trying to get her down those triangle things, stairs, they call 'em, but Jinta doesn't look to good," she explained to her best abilities.
