Shadowpelt looked ahead, toward the quietly babbling stream, and the waterfall just beyond it. "I know what you mean," he replied, reaching the smooth rock near the edge of the water.

Scorch nods,settling down near it,smiling softly.

"Yes well...now we're alone and such I guess...perhaps this can run smoothly..."she mewed.

"....the tom I like..well...he's been one of my oldest friends for a long time...he's been the only one I could ever look up to and try to impress,no matter how afraid or how shy I was...but I have a feeling what I feel for him isn't what he thinks..."

Taking a breath she finally confesses.

"....you are the tom I like,Shadow...I've always felt that way...but I thought I could never tell you...for fear that you wouldn't feel the same...but I've learned that fear is worse than the actual event occurring...so it's okay...if I am not the one cat you as a warrior seek for a lover in your heart..."

Shadowpelt was caught slightly off guard, and it was displayed as his eyes widened, though little other sign was given. "Um..oh," he mumbled, trying to think of a response. He thought back to how long he had know Scorchflight, and realized that he felt the same, too. "I-uh-like you too," he knew that didn't sound sincere, but he could think of little else to say, as this was the first time the part of his brain that processed and displayed logic seemed to have stopped working. He simply had no other words.

The she cats ears lay back as she sits there,silent. She did not know how to respond either.

"But it's not the same way is it....?"she trails off sadly,shrinking back a bit.

"....I'm....I'm sorry...for wasting your time..."she slinks back before beginning her embarrassed wall back to the camp.

Shadowpelt was still slightly taken aback, but he had the common sense to run after Scorchflight. "Wait! Wait, that isn't what I meant," he called as he caught up to her, trying to organize his thoughts in an appropriate manner. "You just... you caught me off guard, is all," he said, still scrambling desperately for a logical thought in what was obviously not a logical situation. "I do like you, really," he started awkwardly, knowing he could very well be making the situation worse. "Its just that, well, I'm not all that good with emotion." He took a breath, organizing his thoughts again. "And I think that-or, rather, I know-that I would like to be more than friends," he finished. It was, perhaps, the most emotional statement he'd ever made, though it certainly did not sound it.

Scorchflight stopped in her tracks to look at him silently, listening to his words carefully before she replied.

"I would like that alot....if thats what you want...I'm not very good at expressing my feelings either...." she mews softly,her ears still layed back.

Shadowpelt nodded-perhaps too many times-and said. "Yes, that is what I want." Again, as he was unsure of what to do in situations such as this one, he stood for a moment, trying to think of what to say, and failing at the task.

"...does that mean...we can be..you know....mates...?"she asks shyly,smiling.

Shadowpelt nodded; his mind was still muddled, but he knew enough to respond to the question. "Yeah, it does," he said, further solidifying the nods.

The calico smiles and just about knocks him over,nuzzling the tom happily,purring in happiness.

"Are you serious!? Oh CloudClan thank you Shadowpelt! Thank you so much!~"she says happily,licking his cheek.

Shadowpelt smiled, breaking free of the haze momentarily. "There is no need to thank me, you know," he said, purring back.
