"Good evening? If good is what you should call it," Firelight shot back with a snort of mockery. She flattened her ears against her skull, looking this newcomer up and down. He seemed young, perhaps in the prime of warriorhood. Of course. This must be his first, if not second, gathering. By nature he would find it pleasant, or exciting, as she should boldly put it. The elder raised her maw, inhaling deeply and hissing cynically.
"You,' she bristled, facing the speaker. "State your clan and name. Now."
At Icywind's question she bristled, throwing her head back and cackling.
"My dear, my clan has been attacked so many times I have no idea which raid you're talking about!"

Blossomwhisper bright green eyes laid upon another warrior. She dipped her head respectfully as she studied the tom.. She gave him a slight nod of her head as she cleared her voice up to speak. "Hello there." She meowed smoothly as she gave him a slight smile.

Applefall followed in after Whitehawk, flicking her tail as she went. The tabby and white queen noticed an IceClan warrior, Dreamwing, and smiled, padding over to the she-cat. She seemed lonely without a clan mate to talk to. The she-cat nodded to her in greeting. "Hello. I am Applefall of TreeClan."

Seeing that firelight didn't want to talk she dipped her head and meowed," I'm sorry I bothering you." Padding away head down she sat on her hind quarters, sighing. Icywind really wanted to talk to somecat but they all looked pre occupied.

Quillfoot could only blink in mild surprise at the unexpected reception. He recovered quickly though, and tipped his head with a smile. "Well I've found no reason to find it bad," he replied with a quaint flick of his tail. As they were approached by Icywind, he spared her a reserved nod and prepared to move over for her, but the black she-cat sent her scampering quickly. The tom chuckled under his breath, pleased by the difference her actions had highlighted in their characters.
As he was once again addressed by Firelight, he straightened his back and snapped to attention. Her voice was one that was used to being replied too with obedience, and quickly too. "Quillfoot of Iceclan, elder Firelight. If you'd do me the honor, I'd love to sit here a while longer."

He seemed to be received openly, though the she-cat didn't seem keen to start up a conversation. Not to be deterred, Thornfrost smiled and flicked his tail to indicate the ground. "Do you mind if I take a seat?" He asked, almost shyly. "My name is Thornfrost, it's a pleasure."
Looking around, he noticed the gathering cats in the clearing. Meeting the gaze of a few others, he flashed them a smile and every now and then gestured for them to join him in conversation.

Dreamwing looked at the young queen and dipped her head in greeting. Hello Applefall how are you? She asked kindly. Dream heard a hiss and she whipped her head around to see a very familiar pelt. Firelight? Dreamwing asked the elderly she-cat. It was her aunt. She looked at Applefall and murmured a quick sorry before she bounded over to her aunt.

Firelight's tail flicked in amusement, and a grumble in her throat - something that of a purr but not quite as affectionate - erupted. Her ears pricked, and although a slight hostility remained she seemed to relax a little at Quillfoot's response.
"An IceClan cat? You can't be all that bad, then." Firelight was, of course, of IceClan blood, daughter to Wildheart and Venomstar, a former leader. Everyone knew that, and for the most part, accepted it. Her eyes flickered subtly at the vague memories of being dropped off at the FireClan border as a kitten. Shaking her head, she returned to her conversation. The elder was inclined to welcome this cat with open arms, but remembered that, in her youth, kindness was a sign of weakness. Her voice once again icy, she replied bitterly, "Well, I suppose you can sit here. But if you come any closer I shall have to strike you."
A soft breeze buffered against her fur, and she shivered slightly. Her pelt was, naturally, acclimated to IceClan weather, but she had grown used to, and fond of, the warm plains of FireClan. At the sound of a new voice, she sighed. How many more cats would demand her attention? She remembered now why she hibernated in her den most of the year, undisturbed.
Sniffing Dreamwing, she narrowed her eyes. She smelled of IceClan, and vaguely recognized the cat, but couldn't put a paw on exactly who she was. "This is she.. and you are?"

It seemed he had been more or less accepted by the crotchety elder. Settling himself more comfortably, the long-legged tom wrapped his tail around his paws and relaxed his previously stiff shoulders. "I should take it as a compliment then, and if you strike me I'll more than deserve it." Allowing as much was only fair and polite. Now smiling again, the young warrior aimed to strike up a proper conversation, though he was cautious.
"Forgive my impudence, but you don't seem like a very eager gathering enthusiast." Quillfoot noted quietly, curious as to why Firelight had chosen tonight of all nights to emerge. He was distracted momentarily by the arrival of another she-cat, to which he dipped his head politely.

Firelight straightened herself up, wanting to appear slightly more presentable. Quillfoot reminded her of someone she had known in her youth, who had gone missing without explanation, and whose supposed death she grieved to the day.
"Flattery will get you nowhere," she grumbled, tail twitching, though more amused than irritable.
"No, I'm not necessarily one to gather in this claustrophobic area to hear of all the other clans' feigned successes and listen in on the latest gossip. That's past me, but my daughter is expecting a litter, and wouldn't normally miss a gathering, so I'm filling in for her. Snowflare. You may know of her; a FireClan queen. And you, is this your first gathering? You appear young. When was your ceremony?"

The tom rumbled a laugh at Firelight's grumbled statement, though quietened himself quickly in case it offended her. His eyes slitting with the girth of his smile, the tom replied, "Well flattery where flattery is due." If he wanted to get anywhere, he'd ask for it outright. It was in his nature after all, though that didn't seem to be what Firelight was talking about anyway.
He could at least relate to the elder in her distaste for petty tales, though the young tom kept it to himself. There was no sense in agreeing with everything she said so outspokenly, it seemed too much like brown-nosing. "Snowflare, yes. We've never met, though I'm familiar with the name." He never would have expected Firelight to be her mother though.
Humbled by the she-cat's questions, Quillfoot ducked his head and licked thoughtfully at his chest for a brief moment before replying. "Yes, this is my first, I never had the chance to come as an apprentice. My ceremony was only two days ago, so this is my second night awake in a row. I fear I may just fall asleep on my paws walking back to camp," he purred, referring to the vigil that was required after a warrior ceremony.

Looking up icywind saw her friend and meowed," I can't talk to anyone, they keep on ignoring me." She kept on looking at some cat and she wanted to find who." Rivershade? Who are you looking at?" Her whiskers twitched a little with amusement, but told herself to stop.

"Oh sure you may, do forgive me for not introducing myself yet, I'm Blossomwhisper it's nice to meet you Thornforst." She meowed sweetly. She flickered her tail over her paws neatly as she felt a cool breeze brush past here. "So Thornfost how are you doing?" She asked politely trying her best to start a conversation.

she nodded as her friend spoke and then relised that she was hinting to the tom she was staring at. she was emberessed and turned to look at her and she settled down and replied " I don't know" ( she has never met him) she then caught the amusement in her friend and nudged her. " hey, its nothing like that" seeing that her friend was trying to stop the amusement look she then giggled and meowed " do you want to try to join a group?" and adds " i will come with you" she then sat up and glanced over her shoulder again to see the tom. and quickly turned her attention to her friend knowing that she would never hear the end of this.
