( @drought , this can be the thread we agreed to make. Sorry it took so long, I kept forgetting)
As the night drew to an end, and the east became milky with the first rays of dawn, Luna was already sitting up in her nest and grooming her thick, tangled fur. The den was still dark, and the fog outside flushed into the den, making the space damp with humidity. The fresh scent of rain crept into the damp, morning air. When Luna got her pelt straightened out, the she-cat stood and stretched, trying to catch some chilled air. No refreshing scence touched her. Luna breathed in, finding it hard to breath in this heavy air. She stalked towards the cave gap that loomed ahead, letting her hind paws root to the stone as her front legs pulled forward, streatching her cramped muscles. Before she had settled in her hidden cave behind the waterfall, the cold stone underpaw would make her paws cramp and become grazed after a while. But her paw-pads easily toughened, and she could slide on this rock without getting so much as a slight burning sensation. When the sly she-cat made it behind the waterfall, the waterfall's mist wreathed around her hot, damp body, instantly cooling her. The waterfall tumbled down into a small river, that soon ended in a fast-flowing creek. But the waterfall's thunder was worse than it's flow. The water poured down from about a two tails-leinth spout, surprisingly smoothly. Sunshine shone through the gleaming falls, beautiful as ever as it cast dancing lightspecs on the stone pallet behind. Sun gleaming shapes danced on the fall. The small gap that led to her roomy cave was hidden. Even if a cat wandered behind the falls, they wouldn't notice a small, rock-less gap like so many others. Besides, Luna had a reinforced thorn-bramble entrance. Luna made her was around the thundering water, the mist dragging at her tail. Her belly yowled with hunger, causing Luna to stop and glare at it. Who was she kidding? She was hungry! Just to go along with the routeen, a hawthorn trembled at the edge of her vision. Two lively, long, twitching ears popped up above a short grass hedge. Rabbit! Luna thought, mouth watering. Luna instinctively dropped into a stealthy crouch, snaking professionally along its blind spot. As she neared, the rabbit looked up from its nibbling, making Luna freeze. Oh no! It's spotted me! Luna thought. But when the rabbit lowered its head and nibbled cautiously again, Luna knew that it had been close. Light steps! Rabbit can scence movement Luna remembered, trying again, but with much lighter steps. Grass skimmed her legs, but she kept prowling untill she was crouched before the rabbit. Her hackles rocked and her haunches wiggled. Then she leapt. Paws outstretched, she landed with a thud where the rabbit had been. The mammal hared away, and Luna gave chase. She was closing in on it. Luna bent her spine deeply and took long, swift strides before slamming her paws down in its back, stopping the wild rush. And with a quick nip to the neck, the rabbit stilled. As Luna made her way back to the edge, prey in jaw, her mouth watered even more. But she never wavered, and just kept going before she sat down at the edge of the softly flowing river to victoriously eat her prey. When she was chewing a bite, the recent hawthorn she has scowered, trembled with the weight of another feline. "Who's there?" Luna snarled, turning her head as she waited for a cat to step out.
