Hailpaw stepped into the apprentice den. Unaware of all the eyes looking around her. She looked at her paws. This is it. You're an apprentice now, get on with it. "Umm..." She whispered quietly. Looking around, she sat down and waited for someone to greet her.

I'm still here...
Sagepaw looked up from her nest. Nowadays it seemed she had less and less to do. Luckily she had been granted another mentor, hopefully one that would actually fulfill her training. She had already gone through two mentors who had failed to do so, and it was particularly disappointing since she had been looking forward to training with her father, or even her grandfather. Before even learning how to fully hunt, they seemed to have fallen off the face of the earth, however. As disappointing as it was, the red apprentice put it past her and moved on with her life.
After all the ceremonies earlier, she was painfully aware of how crowded the den had become in a day. Before it had still been somewhat quiet. Her alert green eyes observed the apprentice. She was a bit shy, it seemed. "Calm down, nobody here is going to bite you," Sagepaw meowed.

Hailpaw straightened up. Looking not to be shy to the new apprentice, so she dipped her head in respect. "H-Hello," She stammered. "My name is Hailpaw, who's your mentor and what's your name?" She was careful picking her questions. She didn't want her questions coming down like a wave and drowning this older cat.

Sagepaw could tell how hard the cat was trying not to act that shy and pretended not to notice. "Sagepaw," she answered calmly. She held in the sarcastic comments that drifted in the more rude part of her mind, pushing them away. She sat up straight, wrapping her dark tipped tail neatly around her paws. "I've been here for a while, now," she meowed, trying to make conversation. "Yet still haven't been trained that much. Hopefully that'll change now, though."

"Oh..." Hailpaw felt awkward all over again. "That happened to my mentor too. She asked if she could change mentor, it helped." Hailpaw mewed. "You've been here for a while eh?" She added. Struggling to let herself feel comfortable again, like she had been in the nursery. Relaxing her shoulders, she let herself go. Feeling like she did when she was a kit. As if she could blame anything on anyone and get away with it.
