It was an uncomfortably hot and sticky day in the forest. Stygian, for one, was not going to sit around and wait for his fur to catch on fire like the rest of the wolf population seemed to be doing. The black-furred adult set a course for the river. Being a wanderer, he was free to go where he wished without having to drag the rest of his hypothetical pack along.
The Eurasian soon arrived at the narrow aquatic body, and was relieved to see that it had not dried up. In fact, due to some recent storms, the river was actually flowing well. Sty happily splashed into the water, allowing his long legs to cool off.
When a fish tried to dart past him, the canine snapped at and managed to catch the wriggling creature in his jaws. Pleased by the availability of food, Stygian stepped out of the water. He was about to settle down for a quick meal when the presence of another wolf distracted him.
"if you want some, you're gonna have to catch your own," the male called out to his visitor.

"Only watching," Yechta called back, the puff ball of black - that was surprisingly in adulthood for her size - strode out further toward the male settling in on the fish. "Your teeth are quite large." She said, gazing in awe at the whites. She made her way closer to the wolf, flopping down and situating herself comfortably merely a few feet away to watch him eat. "Go on." She said, flicking her tail and putting her head on her paws; nudging a flower a few centimeters away from her nose.

Sty looked up to see a canine surprisingly similar in appearance to himself. He blinked and straightened up. Well, the stranger would be almost a mirror image if it wasn't for the fact that she was tiny.
"I wouldn't say that my teeth are much larger than those of any other wolf. They are, however, fairly sharp," he commented with a grin. The other wolf didn't seem to be looking for trouble. With a quick snap of his jaws, the male had sliced the fish in two.
"On second thought, I'm not terribly hungry and you seem like a good conversational partner." The Eurasian tossed the tail end of the fish towards Yechta, not waiting to see if she caught it. His muzzle was already buried in the other half, swiftly devouring the tasty prey.
Several moments later, he'd finished his meal and had resumed watching Yechta. "So, you got a name?"

Yechta very carefully ate the creature, unlike him. Obviously trying to keep herself extra clean, the dainty thing. She peered up at him through her heterochromatic eyes only when he asked her: So, you got a name?. She swallowed the raw fish in her mouth, licking her maw before speaking, "Yechta." Kind of catches in the throat. "But you can call me whatever you like. Feel free to get creative with it." She said, straightening up a bit, puffing out her fluffy chest fur after she finished the small meal. "Let me guess," She began, looking him up and down thoroughly for a good while.
A long while, actually.
Finally, she spoke up. "Your name is Alfonso." She predicted, obviously beaming. She was sure she was right, absolutely positive of this. He looked quite like an Alfonso to her. "Alfonso the fisher wolf."

He had hardly paid attention to the female wolf's eating habits, clearly more interested in wolfing down his half of the catch. Manners had never held much appeal for Stygian. Why bother munching tidily when he mostly ate alone? The male definitely wasn't going to change his habits just for the sake of a temporary companion. After all, he rarely met the same wolf twice.
Yechta's name caused him to twitch his fuzzy ears. As the Eurasian was busy thinking of a nickname for his acquaintance, she'd come up with an interesting one for him. "Alfonso, huh?" Sty barked with obvious amusement. "That's a new one, and I've heard a lot of strange names. Most of the time, I'm called Stygian or just Sty... but hey, whatever works. I think I'll call you Spider." He'd never been a huge fan of spiders, but Yechta quite reminded him of the tiny, skittering arachnids.

Yechta grinned her wolfish teeth, managing to keep them spotless after eating the raw fish. "I like that one," She said, unlike him having a large affinity for spiders. "You can call me that. In fact, that's all you're allowed to call me Alfonso." She said in a more teasing than domineering tone. She got to her paws after a while, peering down at him. Only taller than the wolf of her breed as he lay and she stood.
"So, you got places to be?" She asked him, cocking her head to the side.

| Late reply is late. Oops. |
Stygian splashed back into the water after the female wolf stood, his half-dried fur once again becoming soaked. "Sounds just fine to me," the male chuckled. The name did fit, if nothing else. Though he wasn't too sure about Alfonso, there probably wasn't any harm in letting Yechta call him that for now. It made for an amusing change of pace.
Stepping deeper into the water so that the current tugged at his stomach fur, he was considering trying to catch another fish when his lookalike companion spoke. "Well, Spider, if we want to get technical... I never need to be anywhere. I have no pack to follow. But no, I wasn't planning on doing much today if that's what you were asking." The Eurasian had to wonder whether the question was asked out of curiosity alone, or whether Yechta had another reason for questioning him.
