This is half short story, half me creating things for a bigger story. This first post isn't the story itself, so much as it is introducing the main features.
The Battlemage - The youngest person to ever master all of the types of magic, the Battlemage is a mysterious warrior, often known to use swords made from spells and balls of fire in battle. Nobody really knows what his motive is for joining the Companions, or if he even cares. The Battlemage's true name is Mordecai Rhagnoll.
The Archer - There isn't a more precise shot in all the lands than those that are shot by the Archer. He is said to be practically invisible in battle, and his arrows fly from every possible direction, leaving his foes dead before they can even spot him on his perches. The Archer's true name is Nickolas Thorn.
The Shield-Maiden - If there was ever a woman in the Kingdoms that could strike fear into even the bravest of men, it would be the Shield-Maiden. With a xiphos sharper than a razor, and a shield stronger than steel, Alysia Mitro is no ordinary woman. Her battle cries are said to make the toughest of the tough run with fear, and her blows with her gear is never merciful.
The Knight - In truth, the Knight should really be called the Broken Knight. Once a high and noble knight for the late King Bellamy, Derick Barnell was forced away from his duties as a sworn protector of the King once the Kingdom of Lanchester was conquered. Barnell now travels with the Companions to get avenge his Kingdom. It is said that his battleaxe swings the deadliest of blows, and that his armor is impenetrable from any natural weapons.
The Shadow - A master in the arts of stealth and poison, the Shadow is the true assassin of the group. The Shadow, like the Archer, does not battle hand to hand. The Shadow uses the darkness and silence to sneak up on his enemies, and rightfully stab them in the back, or poison their drinks. The Shadow, despite his quiet and sneaky ways of battle, is actually said to be the liveliest of the Companions. The Shadow's true name is Lucas Attal.
After the Times of Creation, when mankind built it's first civilizations, the League of Guardians was created to protect mankind from the creatures devoted to destroying them. In the beginning there was only one team. A group of five warriors and wizards, one from each of the first five kingdoms, and they were to protect the towns and villagers from attacking forces and demonic monsters. Now there are many Guardians, with each League occupying certain Kingdoms and regions to divide protection equally. But will the peace last as it has for so many centuries?
Often referred to as the Times of Creation, this was the very beginning of time as mortals know it. This is when the everlasting Gods and Goddesses created everything. The universe, the planet, mankind, the animals, and everything else in existence. They were dark, merciless times, where everything clashed for dominance over the planet.
The end of the Times of Creation came when mankind rose from their shadows. They created tools, weapons, and even small civilizations. They fought against the other creatures of Corus (the planet) and eventually defeated the largest threats. They were the victors of their time, and came out on top. Greater civilizations rose, and eventually the first five official Kingdoms were established. This marked the end of Creation.
The planet Corus is a terrestrial planet located in the Solar System of Peseos. It is the only known planet of Peseos, and is definitely the only thing harboring life. It is assumed to be only a million years old, with the Times of Creation lasting about half of that time.
Corus is a fairly large planet, with three major continents, and two smaller continents. It's dominant species is the Human, and it holds an endless amount of other creatures, as well as plenty of flora. Corus was created by the Gods and Goddesses themselves, with each one making up one of the planet's months. There are thirteen months in a year, thirty days per month, and three hundred and ninety days making up one year.
There are currently seventeen kingdoms on Corus. Five make up the major ones. They are Lanchester, Lille, Roth, Attica, and Pompeii. These were the first five official kingdoms ever established by man, and to this day they are home to the greatest creations, people, and even colonies Corus has seen.
During the Times of Creation, the Gods gave the inhabitants of Corus many different gifts and abilities. The greatest, by far, of these gifts were the Magics. The ability to change the elements, or to spark a fireball with only the snap of a finger, and so much more. This gift was ultimately used by Mankind during Creation, to rise from the shadows and become the dominant species it is now.
There is not one mere type of magic. It comes in different systems, each with it's own realm of abilities, spells, and limitations. There are four types in all.
Conjuration - The ability to create items from thin air. Conjuration is by far the hardest magic to perfect, and it comes with the heaviest limitations. Essentially, the bigger or more powerful a conjured object is, the shorter it lasts. No conjured item lasts forever, and at best one might last several minutes, while most items only last for around one minute. Conjuration magic is used mostly by mages who don't prefer fireballs or stone missiles, since conjuration magic has the ability to create swords, shields, and other popular weapons.
