Rainpaw stepped into the Apprentice's Den, eyes wide and ears pricked. Twitching his whiskers, he swiftly and silently moved toward the back of the den and took a den that had not been taken. He lay down, shivering and tense. A noise made him look up, tail flicking from side to side."Who's there?"

"Rainpaw!" Hailpaw screetched "I haven't seen you in forever!" She quickly ran up to her best friend and looked at him. "So much for you!" Hailpaw sighed, "How long have you been out? It seems you haven't cleared yourself of mud!" She quickly started rubbing against Rainpaw to show her worries for him. "We were both born in storms. We should be able to remember that."

"Hailpaw!" Rainpaw grinned at his best friend. "Sorry, didn't expect to see you!" He nudged Hailpaw's pelt. "How've you been? And where's your nest?" He shook himself out and nodded at her. "I would never forget that. That's the reason we met in the first place." He purred, licking her ear.

Hailpaw shook her head. What has gotten over me? "Well..." she started. "We haven't seen each other for a long time, who's your mentor? Mine's Darkpool, remember her? Prehaps we could go training together..."

"Oh, ok!" Rainpaw said, brightening up at the idea. "My mentor's Cloudspirit. Wait - you're mentor's Darkpool? You got a cool cat!" He said, laughing his deep laugh. His voice was already changing from his high kit-voice.

Hailpaw purred, "I think Darkpool might take me hunting." she meowed. Instead of inviting him, she asked, "We could train after?" A moments thought changed Hailpaw's mind. "No, I'd be too tired. Perhaps the day after? Yes, that'd be good. Can you ask Cloudspirit?" Hailpaw asked. She walked forward and turned to Rainpaw, who was now behind her."This.. This would be about time to do something to help the clan. Remember when you dragged me into the Elder's den?"

Rainpaw's eyes flashed with understanding. "Sure. I'll ask him." He replied, nudging his friend's pelt. "Mmm... yeah, I remember." He said, cracking a smile.

Hailpaw looked at her paws, "Prehaps we could go back there... To change the moss... Now..." Looking up, she met Rainpaw's gaze, "Maybe?"

Rainpaw looked up, surprised, and his gaze locked onto Hailpaw's. Tearing his eyes away, he looked down and shuffled his paws. "Uh.. um- sure! Why not?" He replied, smiling. "Let's go get the moss now!" He bounded out of the den, feeling Hailpaw's eyes on his pelt. He got outside, light green eyes scanning the camp.

Hailpaw bounced after Rainpaw, feeling the sun against her pelt was the next best thing to seeing Rainpaw again. "Where are we going to go?" she asked, bounding up to Rainpaw's side, "Do you know where the best moss-collecting spots are?"

Rainpaw blinked, trotting along. His one black paw was hot, and so was the ground. "Ow! CloudClan!" He yelped, jumping up and down so he looked like a frog. "Uh, what? Oh right. Moss collecting spots, hmm." As they stepped onto the territory, he relaxed. All the tenseness in his shoulders disappeared, making him look much smaller {but not smaller than you, hail >D}. "This way! There's a huge cave-thing that has tons of dry, fluffy moss." And the broad-shouldered tom broke into a run.

Hailpaw shook her head and sprinted after Rainpaw. She managed to catch up to him before he reached the cave. "Wait up!" she had to yell multiple times. [I'll create thread]
