Fernpaw padded into the apprentice den as the sun slowly sank behind the trees. It was a little early to be going to bed, but there was nothing for Fernpaw to do. His fur was clean, his belly was full, but he wasn't tired. Hopefully there would be someone in the den to chat with. That would surely take up some time. Letting his eyes adjust to the dim light, Fernpaw concentrated on the floor, careful not to step on anything. He eventually made it to his small nest near the side of the den, and quickly took a seat, letting a small sigh escape. He wasn't the best at starting conversations, so hopefully the other cat would be. If there was another cat. Clearing his throat, the reddish tom let out a soft meow. "Is anyone else in here?"

Icypaw padded in just in time to hear a voice from the shadows. Flicking his ears he let out a small meow. "I am. Not that you would know me." he chuckled. Letting his eyes adjust to the dim lighting he blinked a few times before focusing on a reddish shape in the den. Padding over Icypaw dipped his head. "Hello. I'm assuming that voice I heard was you. That or CloudClan is talking to us, since we're the only ones in here." he purred. Shaking his fur he offered a smile. "Oh how rude of me. I'm Icypaw I'm new here. Well, not the clan just being an apprentice." Feeling his ears grow hot with embarrassment he shook his head. "You can ignore me now if you'd like. I'm a bit of a dork at times...er most actually."

"I am. Not that you would know me." Fernpaw looked around, trying to track the voice from where it came from. He actually had not heard it before. His green gaze traveled across the den, and he couldn't find the owner of the voice until the black and gray(?) tom padded forward. "Oh, yeah, that voice was me." He meowed, copying Icypaw's smile. His was a bit smaller, though. "Nice to meet you then, Icypaw. I'm Fernpaw, also a newbie." He replied, and his gaze softened a bit at Icypaw's next meow. "Well, you don't seem like a dork to me. You seem interesting. I like interesting cats, they're a lot more fun to be around."

Icypaw blushed. "Er. Well. Thanks..." he muttered. Coughing lightly he fluffed out his fur and sat down, wrapping his tail around his paws. "So. As far as the den goes." he meowed, looking around. "Any idea where we're supposed to make our nests? Seems pretty full already." Looking back at Fernpaw he closed his eyes and smiled. "We should be friends I think. I have a good feeling about you." he purred.

Fernpaw shrugged when he mentioned nests. "No idea. Maybe we could move some stuff around? It is pretty cluttered." He meowed, looking around himself, eyes flitting over possible spaces. He returned to Icypaw as he started talking. "Yeah, I think so too." He agreed, chuckling a bit. "I think we would get along well. Anyway, do you see any possible nest spaces?" The red-brown tom continued, once again looking about the den. I think our nests would have to be small, or else it would take up to much room.

Looking around the den Icypaw tried to find a place. There, nestled between a nest and the far side of the wall was a small area that looked just barely big enough to fit the two of them. Bounding over the nests around him he stopped in front of the spot and felt around with his paw. Turning his gaze back to Fernpaw he smiled. "This looks like it will do. We just need some moss or something." he meowed. "Say. Who's your mentor?" he asked.

Following Icypaw's gaze, Fernpaw caught the spot not too long after Icypaw did. He nodded in approval, and padded forward to look closer at the area. It was perfect for two young apprentices. He smiled, about to walk off and get some moss until Icypaw brought up another topic. "My mentor is Nettleflight." He answered, part of his mind thinking about the tabby she-cat. "She's kind of, uh, snappy. And stern. But, she's my mentor nonetheless." Fernpaw paused for a moment, scraping his paw over their desired nest area. Even though she's a little mean, I can still learn a lot from her. I just have to make sure she's happy during training.
Fernpaw twitched his ears a bit, hardly even noticing that his paws were already moving leaves and such out of the area for moss. He stopped for a moment and looked up at Icypaw with a smirk. "Who's your mentor?" He copied, twitching his whiskers.

Icypaw had begun to help clean up the area with Fernpaw, flicking his tail and focusing on the task. He thought about his mentor for a moment. She seemed...fairly normal, just a bit older as she was a senior warrior. "My mentor is Lotuspetal. She's a senior warrior, so far she seems nice. I think I met Nettleflight once when I was a kit. She scared me out of my fur." he meowed, eyes widening. Shaking his head he looked at Fernpaw and nudged his shoulder. "Good luck mate. You might need it." Clearing the old moss he had out of the den he padded over to where the fresh moss was, gathering enough for them both under his chin. "Scuse me." he mumbled, trying not to drop anything.

A small leopard tabby padded into the apprentice den, she was proud of herself for becoming an apprentice. As she was walking in, she saw two toms and walked up to them. She parted her jaws to release a few meows that formed the words: "Hi, I'm Brindlepaw."

"Lotuspetal, huh? I don't think I've heard of her." Fernpaw continued to scrape the ground with his paw. "Yeah, thanks I guess." He meowed, grabbing his own pile of old moss and placing it away. He grabbed some of the fresh moss from Icypaw, making sure the tom didn't spill, and set it down in their desired nest area. Fernpaw began pressing the bedding in so it stayed in place. He got so lost in his job, the tom nearly jumped out of his fur as another voice spoke. He swiveled around, dipping his head to the she-cat. "Uh, hello Brindlepaw. I'm Fernpaw. Pleasure to meet you." He looked back up with a friendly, slightly nervous smile.

The she looked at Fernpaw and laughed slightly, "sorry if I scared you." She purred.

Icypaw continued with the work absentmindedly, he could smell the other feline before he heard her, but Fernpaw jumped and Icypaw couldn't help but chuckle. Once he was satisfied he turned to address the she-cat and dipped his head. "Greetings Brindlepaw. I'm Icypaw." he meowed, flicking his ears. Giving a small yawn he shook his head. "Now that thats done..." He flopped onto the nest. "I feel lazy all of a sudden."

Brindlekit sat down upon her haunches and looked around, not knowing what to do.
((sorry short replies))
