Sandstep smiled as she realized that Green Leaf was over already and that Leaf Fall was here. The pretty colors of the trees' leaves made her happy as she could see the differences in them. They seemed to bring some sort of balance in her mind. She wasn't too sure why, but she could just feel it in her veins. Lately she had been seeming kind of distant though and needed to talk to someone other than family so she looked around for someone to meet. The pale she cat realized that there was an unfamiliar face in the clearing. "Greetings, I'm Sandstep. What might your name be?" She asked the other female warrior with a smile. ( Shadyfoot)

The days seemed to get a little bit colder, but Shadyfoot didn't mind. Her black pelt made it so that the sun seemed to burn her pelt off. She was so glad that she didn't have to hide in the dens all day since there were very few trees in the prairie. She was still bored though, it seemed like she had no one to talk to anymore.
She laid down on the grass as she tried to enjoy the most of the chill since Leaf-Bare wasn't too far away, and that was the cold that she didn't like. She was happy to hear another voice besides her own and looked up with a smile. "I'm Shadyfoot." she replied. "I'm so glad it's not hot anymore!" she added after a while.

Sandstep gave a smile at Shadyfoot and nodded. "It is a good thing now isn't it? But that means Leaf Bare is coming." She herself had never experienced Leaf Bare and wondered how it would be different. Sandstep knew that there was going to be cooler temperatures and less prey along with the possibility of snow out here.
She hadn't heard of either part of Shadyfoot's name before used in a name. "Shady" and "foot". It was a neat combination though.
(Sorry it's a little short)

"Leaf-bare isn't the best, the prey will be burrowed in the ground for shelter. I hope every cat will get enough to eat." Shadyfoot didn't like the thought of starving cats and decided not to talk about greencough.
"So, how's life? Anything interesting?" she asked in a slightly awkward tone, she wasn't the talking type and listening was more of a comfort to her. Hopefully this will spark up a conversation, she thought.
(Not as short as mine!)

She shook her head. "I wouldn't know interesting if I stepped on it... Maybe I would but I guess that means nothing too interesting in my life right now. No tom. One apprentice that went crazy or something, not here I mean. And who knows what else?" She thought to herself for a moment before saying to Shadyfoot. "Well what about you? Anything exciting?" Sandstep pricked her ears forward to listen.

Crazy apprentices, she laughed lightly. When it was her turn she shook her head, "I guess we are both the unlucky ones. I don't think anything exciting has happened to me. No tom or apprentice." Suddenly her legs itched to go and walk. Will Sandstep want to come? She abruptly stood up, "Umm, since we're not doing much do you wanna take a walk outside of Camp maybe?" she asked, taking a step towards the the entrance of the camp while looking back at the younger warrior.

Sandstep was happy for the offer to go for a walk and said gratefully, "Yes I would love to get out of camp for a walk. Let's get going; you can lead." She could tell the other she cat wanted to get out as well since she seemed to inch towards the clan entrance. The pale she cat was ready to go and glanced around camp. Hopefully the other warriors wouldn't need them. But there seemed to be enough of those right now that she wasn't needed.

Shadyfoot's heart leaped with glee as Sandstep accepted the offer, this time she wouldn't be so bored. She wasn't worried about missing her duties, she could do them later as always. She walked calmly towards the entrance to freedom, but she knew that she wasn't calm on the inside. She wanted to dash out of the camp but she knew that it would be rude to dash off without the pale she-cat.
When she reached the open prairie she stopped looked down at the tall grass that still looked green but lost it's bright color. "Do you think it's going to snow?" she asked to no one in particular.

Sandstep wasn't sure if the she cat had directed the question toward her or not but thought of an answer for it anyway. "It might, Shadyfoot... It might." Once the colder weather comes around it might be easier for Sandstep to deal with instead of the heat. But she doesn't realize just yet how bad the prey level would be since this is her first leaf bare.
An experience this would be for the young feline. Maybe a good one.... but maybe a bad one.. She had never thought there was anything except Green Leaf until she was an apprentice. I wonder how it will be...

Shadyfoot nodded her head without a word. Stalking along the grass as the cold nipped at her paw-pads a thought struck her. "Have you ever experienced leaf-bare?" she asked the younger warrior as she stopped walking. Twitching her ears as a breeze ruffled her fur as if it was warning them of the upcoming leaf-bare.

Sandstep gave a shake of her head. "No I haven't unfortunately. It seems like it will be a delightful experience. Not all the missing prey but the snow. It will help me blend in more and I can sneak up on people easier," she said with a mischievous chuckle and grin. I can't wait till leaf bare. The cooler temperatures.

(So sorry it's late!)
Shadyfoot giggled with Sandstep about her mischievous plans. "Did you know that I was born during leaf-bare?" she asked while still on the subject of the cold season. "I don't remember much though. I remember it wasn't very cold. Probably because a lot of other kits were surrounding me when we were sleeping. I was still too young to go out of the nursery." It was nice talking to some cat even if she just met them.

Sandstep thought for a moment to herself and found it fascinating that she was born in Leaf-Bare. "Wow. I didn't know many kits were born then. Or any for that matter. But it's fairly interesting to think about. And the other kits probably did help you out there with the warmth." She smiled, thinking about how it was when she was a kit. It was a long time ago now but it was great.

Shadyfoot nodded, "Being a kit used to be great. It was just play all day." She sighed, not anymore, it's just hunt all day. "I can only remember so much... What about you? I bet you had fun." She circled around to face Sandstep, with a smile. Surely she had a great time as well.

Sandstep nodded. "I was never really too social but of course I managed to play along with some other kits." She said to the other warrior with a smile. "All of the kits seemed to know one another or managed to meet a new kit."
