She was quite pretty, with silky dark brown fur that only made her frame a few sizes larger and emerald eyes that sparkled whenever she was excited. The apprentice was tiny, however her soft pelt hid hard muscle. Looks can be deceiving and Duskpaw proved that. She was skilled in battle, and she defeated vicious warriors in her dreams with one move.
"No!" Her eyes flew open, Duskpaw panting. She winced as the sunlight blinded her temporarily and gazed at her surroundings. She felt like she was nearly dead. She sighed gustily, causing her whiskers to flutter.

Frigid air bit at sensitive skin, short, dappled fur rising up in a futile attempt to block away the relentless feeling. An uncomfortable expression passed over his face, eyes squeezing shut tighter and pink nose twitching. He huddled into himself more. His long, sinuous tassel, although aiding in his protection against the wind, hardly put any difference. The seasoned apprentice let out a frustrated sigh before forcing his consciousness to ease back into numb slumber.
Hours later, the wind finally receded and the cold was chased away with a ray of warmth. Grey legs stretched out a little in a show of relaxation, and with a yawn that spread open his jaws, a pair of sunflower eyes fluttered open. Grovepaw shook out his pelt and looked about. Merely a few tail-lengths away from him, a dark she-cat had jolted awake, a frightened yell coming forth. Eyebrows furrowing, the long-legged cat rose to his paws. Grovepaw sauntered over to her quietly, paying no heed to the unruly mess that was his own appearance.
“Hey, you okay over there?”

Duskpaw heaved out a breath, almost a sigh. She wished she had empty dreams like the other apprentices. It had been a horrible dream. She closed her eyes as she recalled the details of the nightmare. She had been standing there, frozen, while all the TreeClanners had entered an eternal slumber. Duskpaw shivered slightly. The worse part was... she had just stood there. Petrified. Paralysed. Useless. All the while TreeClan cats were joining the ranks of CloudClan. The feeling was worse than death, although she felt like she had been brought to the brink of death. No, even worse. She had done nothing to stop the deaths, the yowls, the shrill shrieks that had sliced the air, the air almost electric heartbeats after. The blood. All that blood... She released a little groan, her head still swimming with the faces of cats that had joined the ranks of CloudClan in her dreams. "I'm... I'm fine." she meowed, her voice trembling like heather in the wind. Realizing she had forgotten to introduce herself, she did so hastily. "I'm Duskpaw. And you are...?"
