Dapplekit trotted back into the nursery, pausing in the entrance for a long luxurious stretch. She'd spent almost a moon without interacting much with the other kits. She was determined that someday she would be the greatest warrior the clan had ever seen, and that required practice! Her best friend had been made an apprentice already, but she wouldn't be too far behind him. And when she got her mentor, she was going to be the fastest learner the warrior had ever trained!
But it was lonely in the nursery now that Swallowpaw had moved to the apprentice den, and she looked around at the other kits in their nests and playing among the queens. She mentally cursed the shyness that made it hard for her to make friends, and tucked her tail around her paws as she watched instead of stepping forward to participate. It was okay, she'd wait for someone to approach her.
