Naturekit felt the need to do something productive. Just sitting around all the time would accomplish nothing. Naturekit's mind reeled. What can I do that will mean something? she thought. Maybe I can start practicing my hunting so that when I become an apprentice, I'll be ready! Naturekit loved the idea. She had never been hunting, being a kit, but why not try it out now? Even if she couldn't find anything to pounce on, she could at least do something .

Hazelkit crept silently around the nursery, blinking her wide blue eyes as she searched for something to do. Her brothers and sisters were sleeping, and technically she should have been as well, but sleeping was just so boring. She couldn't wait until she was an apprentice, Hazelpaw, out training to be a real live warrior, hunting and fighting and protecting... but first she would have to finish being a kit, with stupid nap times and always staying inside their den. Huffing, Hazelkit looked just outside the nursery to where she could see something moving in the underbrush. Her back arched as she watched it go. She could have caught it if she were allowed to go outside without supervision. Looking to the side, she noticed another kit who seemed to be tentatively watching the smae piece of prey. "Hello, Naturekit," Hazelkit meowed loudly, pouncing on a leaf in front of her. At least she had someone to talk to as she escaped naptime.

"Ahhh!" Naturekit jumped back as a kit jumped right in front of her. "Oh, sorry. You just kind of scared me," she apologized with a sheepish grin. "You're Hazelkit, right?" Naturekit looked her up and down. She seemed to be younger than Naturekit, so she assumed that Hazelkit was new to the nursery. "Good pounce, by the way," she commented. Natuerkit then looked back out beyond the nursery's borders. "Wouldn't it just be awesome to go out there?" she wondered longingly.

Hazelkit puffed her chest out proudly when she startled Naturekit. After all, it meant that she could be nice and silent.
"You're Hazelkit, right?"
"Yeah, that's me," Hazelkit said, blinking her big eyes a few times, slowly. Naturekit was older than Hazelkit was, and they had never talked, but Hazelkit had heard her talking to other kits and picked up her name.
"Good pounce, by the way,"
Hazelkit's wide eyes widened even more when Naturekit commented on her pounce. "Wow, thanks, Naturekit!" She said happily.
"Wouldn't it just be awesome to go out there?"
Hazelkit huffed, annoyed. "Yeah, it would be. I don't get why we all have to stay in here. It's so boring!" Hazelkit flopped onto the ground dramatically, as she gazed outside of the nursery, taking in all of the elements of nature that she had never been able to experience firsthand.

Naturekit giggled when Hazelkit got all dramatic. "Well, they must have their reasons," she commented thoughtfully. "Still, it'd be nice if they'd let us out there some..." She then noticed how Hazelkit was taking in nature. "Beautiful, isn't it?" she asked, sitting down next to her.
