Eli had been sent on a mission, as he liked to call it, by Drought. The patched leader had asked him to spread the news of an attack, one that would gain them part of the forested territory along TreeClan's border. He padded into the territory, this on his mind, to search for any prey he could salvage in such weather. Paws crunching on snow behind him caused his dark ears to perk, and he turned. "Hello!" He greeted cheerfully. "Oh! Yes! I have something to tell you."

Kylie scrunched her small, pink nose in distaste, the revultion clear on her delicate features. The pale tabby had no idea what she was doing in the swamp, but then the vague notion of her earlier prospect of an adventure resurfaced in her conscious, and she remembered. Ky trekked on, the croaking of frogs ringing in her ears and the smell of the bog stinging her nose. "This place is so gross, but I swear, there's something good here."
She hardly even noticed the tom she had come across, and had he not turned around to greet her, Kylie would have run right into him. The she-cat gave a yelp and jumped back, her back leg falling victim to a particularly deep puddle. Stagnant, black water splattered her pelt, and Kylie made a face. "Ew," she muttered, shaking off the water. Her amber gaze wandered back to the other cat, and she smiled sheepishly. "Heh, hey! What were you saying? I kind of, yeah.. I kind of didn't see you there."

Eli smiled a friendly smile at the pale, golden she-cat. "Gross, right? So much mud and water filled with who knows what..." He meowed, glanced at the sticky ground he was standing on in disgust. "But, we'll have something to look forward to, other than this mud, once I tell you my news!" He grinned at her, picking his paw up out of the mud, with a gross squelching sound.
"Drought has asked me to spread the news that the Clans are warring as of now," his eyes grew wider with excitement. "Once they're finished, we'll attack TreeClan while they're in their weakened state, and conquer the strip of land near the border. We'll have more prey, and not as much muck."

Kylie was apprehensive about touching her matted fur, but she was determined to get the dirt off of her. She let her rough tongue lap her chest fur, hurried because of the terrible taste it left in her mouth. She heard Eli talk again, and Kylie lifted her head to nod. "I know, right?! I mean, I get we kind of need it for prey and stuff, but it's just.. creepy and disgusting."
The mention of taking over part of TreeClan's territory both excited and worried Kylie. She had been to the group of clan cats before, and she had returned one of their stolen kits. The tabby had grown rather fond of the clan and their survival system, but it had been moons since Kylie had last tasted a good adventure. "Really? When do you think that is?"

Eli shrugged at her question. When? "Not too long, I imagine! The Clans never do hold up their fight for long, now do they?" He asked with an amused glint in his eye. "I have to admit, although I do like new places and adventures, action, I don't want to inflict too much pain on TreeClan." He shrugged. "But, I will do what it takes to get out of this muck and onto drier, better land." He grinned with a shrug.
"I must sound silly, being a DeathClanner and all." He shrugged. "Well! Besides that, I suspect you were out for a hunt? Would you like to join me? The more the merrier!"

Kylie was surprised at the sympathy Eli shared with her in regard to stealing some of TreeClan's land for DeathClan's own, and she found herself more inclined on befriending the lynx point tom. "Drier, better land sounds really good right now, actually," she laughed with an eager nod of her head. "It's a good thing I know about the plans Drought has for the future, or else I'd probably still be here covered in mud and other.. less desirable things." Kylie shuddered a little at the thought.
"No, no, not at all! I kind of feel the same about them, too. I've been there before - to return a kit of theirs DeathClan stole as an advantage over them. I've experienced what it's like to be in their paws, and it's kind of okay, if I'm being honest. But, we have to do what we can to survive, so I hope I can at least help a little in return for DeathClan's sort-of hospitality." The cream she-cat finally got the last bit of muck from her fur, although it stuck up in different places due to her sloppy grooming. "Hunting is good! Where do you suppose we should go?"

Eli nodded in agreement. "I think the thought that we get drier land is better than the alternative - leaving TreeClan in peace. Even if I feel sympathetic for them," he shrugged, then smiled pleasantly. "Other less desirable things? Ewuck. I don't even want to know what's in this mess of a place - swamp, whatever," he crinkled his muzzle in disgust, turning his paw over to reveal the dirtied pads.
"I'm glad we're on the same page, then," he said. "We may get along quite nicely," he grinned. "Hmm. There aren't many places that I would enjoy hunting in - but maybe in the small grove of the cypress trees? I've been over there a couple of times, and it's a little drier," he suggested, referring to the group of swamp cypresses that grew not far from where they stood. "There may be a bigger variety of prey there, too!"
