LynxtuftAll her kits were sick and very mean to the medicine cat when he tried to help them. It irritated her a bit, but this happened. She sighed and lay in her temporary nest watching her eldest play, why her two youngest slept. Berrykit and Badgerkit, she looked at Berrykit and sighed as she coughed. "Oh Berrykit.. why .. why wouldn't you take the medicine he was just trying to help." she whispered.

i've never known a man who loved me | Berrykit lifted her head groggily as her mother spoke her name. She listened silently with a flick of her ears, besides the coughs that left her jaws. When Ashmist was done speaking, she ducked her head. "He was intruding," she stated. "And he was big. He had germs, and Snowkit doesn't like germs. I told him I'd protect him from them, so that's what I has doing." She replied. "Besides! He smelled bad. And we didn't want medicine." She meowed, resting her head on her mother's paw.
"Why does it matter so much? We're not going to die." She murmured, flicking her skinny tail around her shivering body. Her coughs escalated into a fit, which lasted quite a while. |

"He was not invading I invited him into the den, it was his business to be in the den." she mewled and then sighed "Sure he smelled of herbs, but you needed the medicine to feel better" she said and looked down at her as she rested her head on her paws. She then sighed as the young female asked why it would matter so much about her illness, all the illness that everyone but Badgerkit and Whitekit seemed to have.
"Because, it can kill you later on when it escalates." she said and then wrapped her body around her whimpering.

| i've never known a man who loved me | "B-but I don't feel bad! We don't need to be fixed, we're tough!" She replied defiantly, puffing out her chest. She fell into another coughing fit, glaring up at her mother as if to say 'I won't admit that your right'. She winced at the word 'die'. Wasn't Ashmist supposed to be understanding and caring? That's what she saw the other queens do. She never heard them say that their kitten might die, especially to their face.
"But then I can't protect Snowkit from all the nasty germs," she complained, casting her gaze down to her paws. "And I promised him." She frowned, suddenly scared that she might die. "I don't want to die! Then I can't see you anymore," she whimpered, nuzzling into her mother's soft belly. |

With a sigh she put her paw over her kit and then licked her head. "Berrykit.. you are strong, but not strong against sickness. Please Berrykit for me, see the medicine cat." she mewled and then blinked her dark blue eyes as she flicked her tail from side to side.
"Then get care, so you can see me, and care for Snowkit." she mewled. She wasn't a average mother, not after what she'd be through she wasn't soft.

| i've never known a man who loved me | Berrykit blinked wide, blue eyes at her mother. "But I am strong, Mama! Strong enough to fight off this sickness, or whatever! Right? You said I was strong yourself!" She looked up at Ashmist's face, batting playfully at her stump of a tail.
"But that I don't trust that Flamingthorn guy! What if she poisons my siblings? I have to protect you guys," she murmured, covering her head with tiny, white paws. "Your making me all confused and stuff." |
