Snowpaw woke up before the first ray of light seeped in the den and before the Dawn patrol was even awake. This was when she had always woken up. She quietly walked out of the den. She was carefully not to step on anyone. She walked over to the fresh kill pile and paced back and forth by it. She sat down and waited for the others to get up. I wonder what it will be like, she thought, will all of the other apprentices hate me? She shrugged off the thought.

Finchpaw was too energetic to sleep that night. She'd just finished exploring the territory with Honeydrop yesterday - and though her legs were sore, the idea of learning more cool stuff was too much for her to handle.
So the blue-grey female eventually gave up on resting and padded into the clearing for some breakfast. "Morning," Finch meowed to Snowpaw. "What're you doing up this early?"

'I always wake up this early in the morning.' Snowpaw replied after sitting down to face the other apprentice. 'It clams me and gets me ready for a new day.' Snowplow paused before adding on 'And i am glad I do, I can easily keep up with my mentor for hours because usually i just walk around the freshkill pile for hours.'

"Really? Well, I guess that makes sense," chirped the Korat with a small shrug. She grabbed a mouse and sat down nearby to start munching on the lukewarm meat.
"I'm Finchpaw, by the way. My mentor's Honeydrop!"

How could I have forgotten to introduce myself? Snowpaw thought. 'I am Snowpaw.' After a pause to look up she added on 'And my mentor is Blazeleaf.'

"That's a nice name! What do you want it to be when you're a warrior?" Finch questioned, still nibbling on her mouse. She'd never met Blazeleaf - but perhaps they would cross paths in the future. After all, she was bound to talk to everyone at some point. Right?

She closed her eyes and then opened them again about five seconds later.'I am going to have the leader decide my warrior name.' Snowpaw replied

The younger female tipped her head to one side. "Well, yeah, but haven't you thought about what might sound good? I know I have! 'Finchsong' would be really pretty," she meowed. It was a little weird to meet somebody who apparently hadn't considered that sort of thing. All the kits in the nursery never stopped talking about it, especially when pretending to be warriors.

'Of coarse I have thought about it!' She replied quickly. How could she not. It was almost the only thing that kits talked about in the nursery. She took a deep breath. 'I have thought about it a lot... and... well... I decided that it would be better if the leader came up with my warrior name.' It was true. Snow was a hard name for her to make a warrior name. Any one else could easily make a good warrior name for snow. It was just that she wasn't creative enough for making up her own name. Any one else's name she could make a perfect warrior name for but..... she just couldn't make a good warrior name for her name.

With a slight frown, Finchpaw sighed under her breath. That didn't exactly answer her question. It was a shame, too - there were a lot of things that might go nicely with 'Snow'. The Korat forced herself to focus before she got too distracted with the possibilities.
"So what's Blazeleaf taught you so far?" she asked, changing the subject. Maybe the older she-cat could even teach her something?

'Well... So far she has only shone me the borders and taught me the hunting crouch.' Snowpaw replied.
(sorry about the post being so short. I don't really feel like typing today)

"Ooh! The hunting crouch? Honeydrop took me around the territory, but we didn't start hunting yet. Can you show me? I wanna be ahead!" Finch fidgeted eagerly, eager to learn even if it was a small thing. A head start would probably make things easier when she started hunting for real.

'Ok.' snowpaw said. She crouched down as low as she could to the ground without scraping it. 'Remember you must NOT scrape the ground, or step on leaves and twigs, but you must get as low to the ground as possible. Same goes for your tail.' She said. She came out of the crouch and sat back to watch Finchpaw try.

FINCHPAW OF TREECLAN Finchpaw watched the demonstration with keen interest, ears angled forward. Then, with a nod, she tried to mimic Snowpaw's stance. The attempt was rather clumsy. Though the blue-grey female was low enough, she'd managed to be completely lopsided without noticing it.
"How's that?" Finch asked with an excited grin. WORDS: 049 || WRITTEN FOR: Snowpaw NOTES - Sorry for the lateness! template by Margie @ Adoxography v2
