(for Cheetahfur only plz) Echoflight buried her nose in the semi-dry moss of her nest, which tickled her nostrils and made her sneeze. The few feathers she'd recently gathered flew everywhere, and she lifted out a paw to snag one on the way down. She sighed. It seemed like she hardly knew anyone in the warrior's den anymore. Well, that was to be expected, and partially her faul--she hadn't been around much recently, and though she was making new friends, she missed her old ones. Maybe it was her lonely imagination just then, but she thought she saw a flash of a leopard-spotted pelt in the dim light. She blinked, and then called softly, "Cheetahfur?" |

(AWWW MY LITTLE ECHO-BAE IS BACK)
"Echoflight?" Cheetahfur raised her head. She was near the warmest area of the warrior's den, due to her age. But her speed hasn't left her.
"Echoflight!' she leapt to her paws and stumbled towards her old apprentice, half-asleep. She squeezed her eyes shut and tried to wake up by shaking her head.
"Hi!"

"Cheetahfur! Hi! I can't believe it!" She shook her head, standing up and trodding over to her old mentor. "I haven't seen you in forever! How are you?"

"I'm fine. How about you?" Cheetahstar yawned and shook her head.
"Ooh, and I found this cool new trick!" she rolled her shoulders back, one by one, each of them letting out a crack.
"Can you do that, or am I just extremely old?" she asked. She suspected it was due to her age, as she wasn't able to do that before, but she asked anyway to make sure.

"I'm great!" Echoflight exclaimed, hopping from foot to foot. She watched her mentor and shuddered with a grin as her shoulders cracked. Attempting the trick herself, she rolled her shoulders back, but to no avail except a small crack. "I think you might be old!" she said with a grin, "But I'm sure that's coming on my soon too."

"Don't speak to your elders like that," she meowed sternly.
"I am not old. I have just merely existed for a longer time." She bit back a grin as she narrowed her eyes, pretending to be mad at Echoflight. She pursed her lips and growled.

(read first sentence and genuinely thought you were mad at me. i swear i am echoflight except way more pessimistic and kind of actually the opposite but still)
"Of course," Echoflight apologized, dipping her head, her insides squirming with guilt. She hadn't expected Cheetahfur to be insulted. "I'm really sorry, Cheetahfur," she said, looking up and glancing back t her paws as she saw Cheetahfur's honey-colored eyes in slits.

Cheetahfur writhed with delight when she realised Echoflight believed her. She could release Echoflight right now... but why?
"I'm disappointed, Echoflight." She comprehended.
Realizing her laughter was too much to hold back, she finally stopped trying and burst into a fit of giggles.

"Sorry," Echoflight mumbled, but looked up a minute later as she heard a burst of laughter from the senior warrior. "Cheetahfur!" she exclaimed, indignant but amused. "You were messing with me!"
She sprang at the older warrior playfully. "And I belived you!" she cried, slightly embarassed, but relieved.

"Of course I'm messing with you," Cheetahfur's legs gave away and she was lying on the den ground, literally rolling in laughter. Big clouds of dust exploded and she finally emerged from her fit.
"You are so gullible, Echoflight!" She chuckled to herself and, deciding to push the limits (is that even a saying), she dropped her jaw and focused on a piece of moss behind Echoflight.
"Oh... My..." before finishing her sentence, she took a step forward.
"Diamondeyes!"
Of course this was just a big lie, to see how gullible Echoflight actually was, but hey. A cat's gotta do what a cat's gotta do, right?

"I'm not that gullible," Echoflight protested, her fur warm. "Really, I'm not!" she cried, but she was laughing too, and flicked Cheetahfur's shoulder only half-heartedly. Cheetahfur didn't seem to notice, and had already stood up, her gaze firmly fixated on something just behind Echoflight. Not wanting to be fooled again, Echoflight kept her gaze on Cheetahfur, skeptical, as Cheetahfur exclaimed, and then said her sister's name. Echoflight was itching to turn around, but stayed still, insisting, "There's no way Diamondeyes is there," then at last turning and glancing. Nothing, just moss, and she turned around. "See?" she said obviously.
