Prophet sighed as he plopped down onto a soft patch of nettles. He had just finished finding his way home for an hour or so after being abandoned by one of the pups. In reality he hadn't been far from the pack's home, but he may or may not have accidentally gotten distracted by the varying scents. By the time he had finally found home, it was late, an the red wolf was beyond tired. But, of course, as soon as he got home, something was wrong. Something smelled. Not bad, but not good either. Prophet had never smelled something like it before, which was scary to him. Was it a new animal? A bear? He knew of bears, but had never smelled one. Man, if this was a bear attack that'd suck.
Prophet got to his paws and walked into the center of the camp. He could hear a sound now, unlike any animal call. It was like rain, but without the actual drops. Prophet could hear another wolf approaching, although the wind kept their scent away. "You, what's happening? What's that smell, and sound?" He asked, looking back to where the weird thing was coming from. The fact that it wasn't an animal, but produced such awful smells and sounds truly worried him. Only the worst storms usually made him feel this way. Was the rest of the pack just as worried? Was this strange wolf ever going to answer him?!

This is fine ► Flames flickered against the black she-wolf's eyes as she watched the foliage enshrouding the camp go up in monstrous flames. Yechta was making sure everyone in the camp was making it out, pups being carried out by their scruffs as she held back to carry the remaining bits of her herbs. The shaman had badly burned her paw before she was able to begin limping towards the entrance - which, the flames were now daringly close to. Before she reached the camp entrance she spotted the red and white wolf staring blankly at the fire through his unseeing eyes. Muffled by her herbs she shouldered his flank to turn his directions towards the entrance of camp. "It's a fire, Cerb!" She shouted panicked about the flames, muffled slightly by the herbs in her mouth. "We have to get out!"

Fire? Prophet had leared about fire once. His Uncle Reed had told him of fires, and how the gulped up the entire forest and spat out black remnants. At the time Prophet had only considered it a scary story to keep him up at night, but now it seemed it was real. The fear in Yechta's voice sunk in after a moment, and Ceberus moved forward.
As they got closer to the camp's entrance Prophet could finally feel the heat. Now he was going to panic. It produced a bad smell and sounds, and now it was warm? Prophet yelped as he felt something bite at his tail, but he kept moving, brushing past the camp's entrance. He stopped once the heat felt a little weaker, and waited for Yechta to guide him some more.

Kodi was doing anything that day. He had just decided to take a nap. But, his nap was interrupted as a harsh smell cut through the air. He opened one of his fiery orange eyes, sniffing again. It smelled like ... "Smoke?" Standing up, the older wolf walked from his napping place, looking out. There he saw the flames licking at the camp.
"Great. It had to be fire." Sarcasm dripped in his voice as he bounded from the place, running out of camp. That's where he saw Cerberus and Yechta. "What help do you need?" he asked, keeping an eye on the flames behind them.

STYGIAN OF THE CRYSTAL POND PACK When Sty said he wanted to watch the world burn, this was not what he had in mind.
He was terrified, really, and 'scared' was not something he usually did. The black wolf had been on a walk when he saw the flames in the distance. It had taken him quite a long time to push his instincts aside and run back here. Stygian had a bit of a history with forest fires; the last time he'd encountered one had not exactly left him with pleasant memories.
A wave of heat scorched the fur on his stomach as he leaped over a burning log and landed in the pack's camp. His expression was artificially calm, a harsh contrast to his mind. Sty made a halfhearted attempt to keep his legs from twitching while he darted into Yechta's den and seized a large clump of the first herb he saw. He knew the pack's medicine supply was one of the most important things they had. Most of it was about to go up in flames - but, well, he could try to save a bit.
Weaving around patches of fire, Stygian raced out of camp and headed the way he hoped the others had gone. He was never one to freak out. In fact, the Eurasian's emotions rarely showed at all - but this was the closest he'd come to losing his cool in a long, long time. This is fine ► Yechtas mind was in a frenzy as the flames only grew higher. She watches most of the pack-mates trickle out of the falling camp; figuring only her, Kodi, and Cerberus were left now. The smoke building around them was growing intense, her mind foggy and her eyes stinging. They needed to get out of here and fast. A black figure suddenly charged past the flames and into her den, emerging and sprinting out just as quickly with a mouthful of herbs. She almost breathed a sigh of relief, thankful to Stygian, but her oxygen was too precious right now. She turned back at Kodi, wary of the approaching flames. Going back for more from her massive herb supply would be too risky...far too risky. "Nothing, but we need to go. The smoke is getting thick, if the fire doesn't get us the deprivation of air surely will." The shaman spoke, gently nudging her blind omega on in the direction away from the burning forest; but, where would they go? She wasn't entirely sure at all where she would lead the small band of wolves...She would need to consult with Stygian. She pushed as quickly as possible with the pair of wolves, though slightly lagging through needing to be Cerberus' eyes. They eventually reached the edge of the forest, the fire flickering behind them in the distance. Yechta took large gulps of the fresh air, blinking her burning eyes and making her way towards the black beta. Before reaching him, she looked over her shoulder to Kodi; "Keep an eye on that fire..I'm not sure if it will say contained to just the forest." She spoke, turning back to approach Stygian. "We'll need to find new territory, if that wasn't obvious...The fire has taken up much of the habitable land though. I don't know the territories well beyond here, do you have ideas?" She asked him, all the while pondering where they would find herbs. Almost all of the locations that she knew to find these vital medicines were burned into ashes.

(wow late lol)
There had only been a few moments in his life where Prophet felt utterly helpless, but the fire had definitely made it's way onto the list. Once Yechta led him out of the main danger zone he immediately plopped onto his side. Never before had he run so much at once, and it was taking a serious toll on him. Not too far away he could hear the Shaman speaking with another pack member about a new home. Great, he'd have to move again. Get used to the surrounding areas, good spots to sleep and eat. Ugh. Stupid fires.
After a couple of moments he got back to his paws and padded over to where Yechta and Sty were speaking. "You also have to keep in mind that other packs will be looking for new homes now, too. And unfortunately for us, most packs are...considerably larger than ours. What do we have? Three fighters and a blind doofus? We don't exactly scream THREAT to anyone else trying to settle down." He said bluntly, looking in Yechta's direction. "Hear me out for a second. Right now most of the packs will be looking for homes far from the fire. They'll assume that the fire has completely destroyed everything in this forest, be it food, herbs, or suitable homes. If we find a spot near the edge of the damaged areas, we could be fine. At the very worst, we might have to claim a somewhat crispy land. On the other paw, though, we don't risk going to war with packs two or three times our size." He said. "But hey, that's just my suggestion."

STYGIAN OF THE CRYSTAL POND PACK It took a few minutes for Stygian to run far enough away that the smoke started to thin out. With the air less hazy, he caught sight of the other wolves up ahead, and hastened to meet them.
His mind grew clearer with the fire less of an imminent threat. That was when he noticed a flicker of pain from one hind leg. Sty twisted around to examine it and noticed a fresh burn wound. He huffed, made a passing attempt to ignore it, then padded the rest of the way to the others.
The Eurasian wolf dropped his mouthful of herbs at Yechta's paws before turning away to find a quiet spot to rest. They probably wouldn't be staying long, since the flames could easily spread to this area, but he was feeling exhausted all of a sudden. Stupid natural disasters.
Of course, it wasn't long before the shaman came over to consult him. "No kidding," Stygian barked sarcastically. "For now, why don't we head towards the base of the mountain? It'll be safe from the fire, and we can go back to the forest once it's done burning." The jagged mountain peaks were clearly visible from here; if they kept a good pace, they could probably find a cave or something before nightfall. Well - assuming his own injury didn't cripple him.
Blinking, he turned his grey gaze onto Cerberus and laughed for the first time in a while. "Oh, forget the other packs. There are many, many ways to destroy those who would dare to oppose us. I could kill them one by one, poison them, convince them to trust me and then pit one rival pack against the other… You worry about claiming new territory in the forest once it's safe, and I'll handle our enemies." The large black wolf grinned broadly and straightened up a bit. Assassinations were fun and games to him.
