The small tom was on his back, squirming around. He blinked open his different colored eyes as he tried to stand up, but couldn't even get off of his soft back. The kit squeaked every time another cat walked by, as he was scared to get stepped on, and his endless struggle tired him out.

Rosekit bounded around, a bright smile on his face. He was on a mission to find a new friend today. The dilute tortoiseshell tom spotted the peculiar little kitten, but Rosekit was most fascinated by the two different colors of his eyes. "You have really cool eyes," he chirped, grinning. The fact that Owlkit was trying to desperately get up was lost to the older male.

A small churr noise came out of the tom, his eyes blinked as if he knew what the other tom said. Eventually he got to his tiny paws but then didn't know what else to do. He flattened onto his stomach, his legs in different angles. Owlkit then looked up at the tom, trying to recognize him visually.

Rosekit giggled. "Now you look funny." The tom approached with a bounce in his step and gently nudged the kit to his paws. "Here, see? That's how you stand." Pride puffed in his chest at his accomplishment - he had helped someone learn to stand! "What's your name? Can you talk? Oh, I'm Rosekit, by the way! Oops, I didn't say that earlier, haha!"

The kit flinched as the large paw touched him, but he then stood on his paws. "Oooollll," he moaned, in attempt to say his name. The tom moved his front paw with a slide, a bit closer to the other tom.

"Oops, sorry, didn't mean to scare you," he breathed out with a guilty laugh. Rosekit decided liked this new kitten. He titled his head sideways, trying to make something out of the strange sound that came from the young kitten. "What's that? I didn't get you the first time," he coaxed, confusion plastered on his face. Rosekit pondered over it, but didn't dwell on it very long. He focused on what the other tom was trying to do now. "Oo, are you trying to walk? Try putting your paw up. Like this, yeah?" He demonstrated by taking a slow step forward, emphasizing every moment.

Owlkit blinked at the tom, "Owwl-kii?" he mumbled questionably. The tom remember his name being called many times. The tom watched his paw, as if it was the best thing he ever seen. The kit slowly raised his paw, then placed it back on the ground, slowly doing the other, but forgetting his back legs. The kit was still happy and let out a happy squeak.

[So sorry for the late reply. Got a bit busy!]
"Huh? Oooh," Rosekit exclaimed, finally grasping what the tom had been trying to convey. "So your name is Owlkit? Cool! I like birds. And owls. Owls seem like pretty cool birds. I think they can turn their heads around." His ramblings were cut short when Owlkit tried to step forward, but slid down to the ground when he failed to move his hind legs. The tortie giggled and bounded over, nudging the tom on his side in reassurance. "Don't forget to move your back legs, too. Haha, should have shown you that beforehand, huh? Anyway, yeah, it's kind of the same thing." He walked forward slowly to prove his point.

Owlkit blinked with a playful purr, then got up slowly again, and started to slowly and unsteadily walk around the other kit, before sitting down tired. "I did!" he squeaked, but then panted after. "Did ee?"

Rosekit's eyes gleamed with joy. "Yeah, you did, buddy! That was fantastic! Wow, you're pretty quick. Haha, you'll be running around and playing in no time!"

"Aaaa?" he said, rolling onto his back and trying to stretch for the older tom's paw with his paw. The splotted feline yawned, and wiped his tiny paws over his ears and face blinking his odd eyes.

Rosekit thought he was going to melt on the spot. He cooed at the small kitten, placing his paw in his. "You're really cute, and you have really cool eyes, did you know?" Rosekit smiled warmly at Owlkit. "Ya know what? Starting today, I'll be your friend, so you can count on me, okay?"

Owlkit squealed in delight as the tom's paw was set in his tiny paws, he looked in Rosekit's eyes, feeling like a little brother, he purred softly. He yawned again, then got up slowly and laid across Rosekit's large paws, feeling tired.
(Hmm I'm half way from apprentice post, thinking I should age him up a bit.)

Rosekit lay down next to Owlkit, flicking his tail lazily over the kitten with a grin. "Catch it if you can~" he sang teasingly.

Owlkit blinked his odd colored and widened them at the older kit's tail, he giggled reaching for it and around hitting it, but had no mean of catching it.
