Starlight sat on a rock, staring at the sky of stars. A certain scent touched her nose, her eyes widened. Fire!  She thought, she turned around to see a blazing tree, lighting another tree then another. She had to get out of there, she ran, the wildfire chasing her. She spotted another wolf, she barked at the wolf, "Fire! Get out of here!"

Kovu stretched and padded out of his den, slowly making his way to the lake, where he bent to lap at the water. After taking a few slurps, his ears caught the sound of another wolf. "Fire! Get out of here!" He immediately looked up, then looked around at the burning chaos around him. He howled a warning howl, letting other wolves know that there was a fire. Kovu then leaped from the lake and raced after the other wolf, eventually overtaking her with his long legs.

Starlight watched as the fire burned her pack territory, her home. "I have to go help my pack!" She said. She turned to help them, but the flames blocked her way. "Have to find another way.." She muttered as she rushed besides the other wolf, "Get to the lake! It should be safe there!"

Kovu snarled. "No! You'll kill yourself! I already let out a warning howl! Besides, all we can do is run. We'll drown if we go to the lake." He used his strong back legs to leap up onto a tall rock. He let out another howl, this one louder then the last and sounding like a roar. Leaping back down, he continued to run, not sure if the other wolf was behind him. Nevermind. That wolf can go and kill herself if she wants. I don't really care. he thought to himself, a little annoyed.

"If I die for my pack, I die for a good cost." She replied sharply. A burning branch came falling down, starlight spotted it just in time and knocked the other wolf out of the way of the blazing branch. "Now who's trying to kill themselves." She replied.

Kovu's world spun as his body was shoved. He managed to get back on his paws, then roared, and leaped at the other wolf, aiming to pin her down but not harm her. "I can take care of myself. I don't need a stupid pack always tracking my movements and confining me to the borders. I can run, fight and hunt better than a whole pack all together, because I am only. one. wolf." he hissed into her face, then let her go and turned around. "You know what?" he said, turning back around. "Follow me if you don't want to die." he smirked once, then leaped over the burning branch and raced off.

Starlight fell to the ground as the wolf pinned her. She growled under her breathe and whispered only loud enough to hear. "You could have died, but if you want to act like that, fine." She got up when the wolf got off her and ran, she started to run after him. "Don't get cocky, the other packs could drive you out of their territory, especially after this." She said, she turned her head, the flames were still following them.

Kovu laughed sarcastically. "I would've been fine." he said, slowing down to run alongside her. "The other packs will be no more after this fire." he said, rolling his eyes. After a few moments, he began to slow and look around. "The fire hasn't made it to the moist woodlands. I normally come here when it's hot."

Starlight stopped as the other wolf stopped. "OK, but before the fire comes, can you at least tellme your name?" She asked. She at least wanted to know this guys name.

Kovu sat down and sniffed the air cautiously. "Fine." he said, then looked over at her sideways. "I'm Kovu. Now tell me yours."

Starlight nodded at Kovu, no wait, Starlights too girly now that she thought of it. Well, I am kind of shady, maybe... She turned back to Kovu. "Nice name, call me Dusk." She said, yeah, that sounded so much better than starlight. The newly named Dusk then glanced, she saw a flicker of fire. "Fires back." She murmered.

Kovu raised a brow, then sniffed the air again. "Fire is coming. Lets go, quick." He stood up and started to run. "You coming?" he asked, looking over his shoulder.
