Sunpaw sat in his nest, the last rays of the sun reaching through patches in the den roof to touch his pelt. He'd had a long day, training in the same manner many apprentices trained, and he'd figured that once he was back, he would be content to take a nap, or maybe even go to sleep for the night; he'd been wrong. Though he had managed to doze off for a short time, it wasn't long before he simply couldn't sleep any longer. Of course, he had looked around for things to do, but had found none, and so he was now bored. Sighing, the light brown tabby stood, stretching his legs out behind him. As the blood- and with it, the feeling- rushed back into his hind limbs, he realized he had accidently kicked somebody, or at least nudged them. Whirling around, his gaze coming alight with embarrassment, he managed a quick, "Sorry about that, I didn't realize you were there," and grinned sheepishly at the cat he'd hit, hoping he sounded as sincere as he felt.

It wasn't often that Wolfkit went without sleep; in fact, sleeping was one of his favorite pass times. There was something about curling up in a fluffy ball of moss, closing his tired eyes, and letting himself drift away from the world that the tom found highly comforting. But tonight, odd as it was, the dirty blonde kitten couldn't seem to keep his lids shut. Every time he could feel himself slipping away, something would make a noise or startle him back into reality. And that was a horrible feeling. So as a mossball came hurtling from nowhere and struck him right between the eyes, Wolfkit gave in, pulling himself up with a groan. Sometimes he really, really, hated the nursery.
Finding nothing better to do, the tom padded up to the entrance of the nursery, forest green eyes staring out into the crispy night. Though Wolfkit would never admit it to anyone, he loved watching the moon. And tonight, he felt as though the moon was watching him, too. He mentally kicked himself for that one. "What to do.." He murmured to himself, fixating his gaze on the apprentices den. A mischievous little smile crossed his face. Wolfkit took off into the night, careful not to make a lot of noise. And as he approached the slightly larger den, he slowed, and the entered without a second thought.
It was bigger than he'd thought it'd be. The inside held a different atmosphere than the nursery, and it contained many, many sleeping forms. Maybe more than his den. Slowly, the tom weaved his way between the much larger cats, not exactly sure what he intended to do, or even where he was going. But before he could answer either of those questions for himself, he was knocked aside by a hind leg. "Oof!" He grunted, ducking and rolling from the impact of the hit.
"Sorry about that, I didn't realize you were there,"A voice soothed, causing Wolfkit to bristle slightly.
"Yeah, watch it," He growled instinctively, turning to face his attacker. And, oh. The tom-cat in front of him was by no means his size, and, slightly intimidated, the smaller kitten stepped back a bit. "Heh, you know, I'm not really supposed to be here anyway, so.." Blushing scarlet red under his fur, and suddenly deciding it was way to late for this kind of embarrassment, he flashed the other tom a sheepish, toothy grin, and started to back away. "It's fine, really.."
[ugh, sorry, this is really lengthy. kind of got caught up, hope you don't mind. c: ]

(That's fine, don't worry about it)
Sunpaw's icy stare widened a bit, surprised to find a kit in the apprentices' den. Though he was quite curious as to what the young tom was doing here, he was more concerned at having struck him- even if it was on accident- and how frightened he appeared to be. His smile turned from embarrassed to soothing, and he said "That's fine. Did I hurt you?" in the friendly tone he used most frequently. Though he doubted he'd kicked the young tom hard enough to do any damage, he still felt bad about it. After a moment, he though to add, "I'm Sunpaw, by the way," not asking what the kit's name was; he would tell him if he wanted to.
(And I'm sorry this is a bit short- I'm tired and have very little muse)

Wolfkit watched with wary eyes as the tom seemed to change emotions, looking somewhat concerned for the kit. "That's fine. Did I hurt you?" Wolfkit flinched at the male's voice, expecting a much harsher outcome that what he had received. Weren't apprentices supposed to be..bitter? Especially at this time of night.
"Uh..no, I'm fine..thanks.." He trailed off awkwardly, not exactly sure what he was supposed to say in this situation. His ego had defnintely been damaged by the accidental kick, and there wasn't really a good way at this point for Wolfkit to recover it. And he was faltering under the gaze of an apprentice, which wasn't exactly his intention by coming into the den.
"I'm Sunpaw, by the way," He was..introducing himself. Okay. Okay, Wolfkit could work with this. "Yeah, I'm Wolfkit," he responded, trying to even out his voice as best as possible. "So..guess you couldn't get any shut eye either, huh?"
[ it's fine, we've all been there. this post isn't exactly my best either, so. ]

Sunpaw was grateful he hadn't hurt the kit, though not surprised; he hadn't kicked with very much strength. "Nice to meet you, Wolfkit," he said, his voice still carrying its usual friendly overtone. "Yeah, I guess not," he said in reply to the tom's question, adding, "So I'm assuming that's why you're here then, right?" He wasn't entirely sure why the kit would come to the apprentices' den just because he couldn't sleep, though he assumed- judging from the kit's attitude thus far- that mischief could have driven him to the den. He kept quiet, though, deciding to let Wolfkit explain himself instead; he sat down again, curling his tail around his forepaw's, icy gaze tinted by curiosity.

"Likewise." Wolfkit mumbled in response, twitching an ear thoughtfully. This could be worse, he reminded himself sullenly, He could be kicking my tail right now. Or telling my ma' I snuck out. The tom shuddered at the image.
"So I'm assuming that's why you're here then, right?" Wolfkit was somewhat taken off guard by the question; why was he here? He couldn't quite fall asleep, sure, but there must've been other things the male could have chosen to do, rather than wondering into the apprentices den.
"Uh..I was just curious, I guess." He stumbled through the statement, racking his muddled mind for a better reason. There didn't seem to be one. "I've just always wanted to help out the clan, you know? Especially with the flooding and all. I guess I was just curious to see what regular life looked like outside of the nursery. Can't really do too much as a kit." Wolfkit let out a little puff of air; he deflated along with the release of oxygen. The tom-kit had been wanting to get that out for awhile. It was hard for him -- wanting to help, to do something, but being forced to sit back and watch instead.

Sunpaw could understand where Wolfkit was coming from, though he didn't let any sympathy show; he doubted the young tom would appreciate it much. "Yeah, I get what you mean," he said, his voice calm and assuring. "Bet that's tough. I'm sure its not what you want to hear right now, but it doesn't seem like you have all that long before you're an apprentice. You can help then," he added, his kind demeanor contradicting the matter-of-fact nature of his words just as much as the cold look his eyes always seemed to carry.
