Dappledheart awoke to rays of sun cutting through the entrance to the warriors' den. Yawning, she slowly stood up. It was about dawn, and the camp was bustling with activity. She padded out of the den and into the warm air of newleaf. She glanced around the clearing. Then she saw her old friend, Echoflight.

"Hey!" Dappledheart called, skidding to a halt beside her friend. "I haven't seen you in awhile! How are you?"

"Oh my gosh!" Echoflight whirled around to face her old friend, happily touching noses. "Dappledheart! I haven't seen you in forever--I'm great! How are you?" She grew somber for a moment. "Have you seen Frost?" She suspected the answer already, but it couldn't hurt to ask.
