The sun was hidden behind a massive raincloud. This particular raincloud, probably a cumulous, spread in every directions, as far as the eye could see.
Thunder boomed in the distance, and lightning flashed along with it. All of that just at the edge. On it's way to Deathclan.
Pandora lay in the grass near the rotting stump of an old tree. The she-cat was practicing her battle tactics. They were improving.
Pandora started out with something simple, something that any cat could see coming. An easy swipe to the face. Just as they would back up to dodge, the stealthy she-cat would swipe forward, her head hoping to go straight for the stomach. This wasn't just a slow-mo move, it was a lightning fast reaction. The cat fighting against that head-butt would not be able to dodge that.
After the head-butt, Pandora would step to the right, the side she had no front leg, then shoot forward.
She had learned to balance most of her weight in her hind paws, so she could swipe without being knocked over easily. Simple, but complicated.
As Pandora lay in the grass catching her breath, she wondered. Who runs this joint, anyhow? Probably no one.
She had heard about a cat named Drought, who was apparently an incredibly great fighter, and had been through many.
So, where was this... Drought?

DROUGHT OF DEATHCLAN Speak of the devil. Having sensed the looming storm, Drought had been out and about that day. If only his underlings didn't seem to be asleep all the time. There were so many things the leader wanted to do; so many plans ready to be put into action the moment his group was strong enough to carry them out. But DeathClan remained ironically dead.
Frustrated, he'd been returning to his den when he found a three-legged youngling who appeared to be practicing battle techniques. "Afternoon," Drought meowed as he stepped into the area. WORDS: 093 || WRITTEN FOR: Pandora NOTES - Oh boy, my replies are not gonna be nearly that long. Pandora, who had stupidly let her guard down, was spooked when another cat spoke behind her. The she-cat leapt in the air, her fur on end. She glared at the other cat after regaining her balance and her pride. "Afternoon to you, too." She growled, angry with herself for not paying attention.
This cat was a tom, obviously larger than Pandora. He was crisscrossed with battle scars, and his muscles flexed beneath his somewhat thin black and white patched fur. He had glowing amber eyes, too. Is this Drought? Pandora wondered, studying the tom for a moment longer.
He looked lean and ready for a fight. He must be Drought. "Um, if you don't mind my asking, but, are you Drought? The 'leader' of Deathclan?" Pandora asked, swiping her tail behind her. She had just regained everything, and was over her last spook. If this is the cat who has the nerve to... Pandora stopped herself. She had heard about what he would do. She didn't want to get on his bad side.

DROUGHT OF DEATHCLAN The patched tom quirked a fictional eyebrow. Someone was a little jumpy today. Her iirritated greeting was pretty much par for the course in DeathClan, though most cats didn't usually make a habit of growling at him. He mentally shrugged it off.
"Of course I am. I've been in charge here for seasons. Surprised you haven't met me before - you must be new here. What's your name?" Drought casually sat down, tail curling over his paws, and awaited the unfamiliar youngling's response. WORDS: 082 || WRITTEN FOR: Pandora NOTES - Good news! I will probably be a tad more active now because I have some extra time to devote to Drought. But have fun at camp! template by Margie @ Adoxography v2

Pandora narrowed her eyes at the tom. Yes, he would definitely be a good leader for a clan like this.
She allowed him to continue and finish before replying. "Yes, I am new here. Just arrived a few days ago. And the name's Pandora." She answered, her whisker twitching.
Pandora couldn't keep the thought out of her mind. What if I answer incorrectly? Or rudely? I can't control my tongue! And I can't outrun this cat, even if I outwitted him. He would tear me to shreds. I can't climb trees either.
That thought haunted her.

DROUGHT OF DEATHCLAN "Pandora," he echoed absently. Earlier in the leader's life, names had been less important. Even after he'd joined DeathClan - for a while they still hadn't mattered; it was just a way to remember the different faces. Things were different now. Drought was deep in the politics of this land and he needed to keep track of everyone. Followers, outsiders, enemies… it wasn't easy. But he had gotten plenty of practice.
"So then, Pandora. Why DeathClan? What made you decide to live here rather than somewhere else?" WORDS: 086 || WRITTEN FOR: Pandora NOTES - At long last, I've got everything settled after that trip and I'm getting back to Drought roleplay. Sorry for the huge wait there. template by Margie @ Adoxography v2

Pandora mulled over the question, her eyes narrowing in thought. "Well, I chose Deathclan because... I've heard of what the Clans do. They seem to soft for me. And I need to stop living alone. I figured I could make some allies. It's just... being 3 legged and all, I can't do much on my own. I can fight, but a mouse could beat me. I have horrible balance." She finished. Her tail gently waved back and forth. "What made you decide for Deathclan?" Pandora added, her eyes bright and confused.

DROUGHT OF DEATHCLAN "Indeed. Those who follow CloudClan are fools, and you can tell as much by the way they cling to their dated laws and traditions," Drought rumbled. He gave a small disappointed shake of his head. If only the Clans were more like Ragabash's Tribe had been. All that wasted potential - it was a real shame.
Pandora's comment about being virtually useless on her own made the patched cat raise a fictional eyebrow. Anyone living in DeathClan needed to be independent. If they couldn't defend themselves and catch enough to eat… honestly, they'd be better off in Twolegplace. There, it didn't matter whether you could do all that. It was a different story here.
Nevertheless, he trusted natural selection. This newcomer would leave or die if she couldn't make it here. Drought didn't comment on that, but he did respond to her question after a pause.
"That was seasons ago. Let me put it this way; DeathClan was the only reasonable choice back then. You'd be a fool to decide to live in the Badlands without a group to back you up." He wasn't about to tell this stranger all about his history, of course, but that vague answer would probably do. WORDS: 201 || WRITTEN FOR: Pandora NOTES - That sounds great! I haven't been fishing in a while, but the weather's not the best this summer - either it's super hot and humid, or it's storming. Pandora listened quietly to what he said. She just nodded vaguely. "So, I haven't been in Deathclan very long. What's there to offer, anyways?" She asked, her head tilting slightly. "I've only been around the forest lately, not much the clearing or anything else." NAME: PandoraGENDER: Female WORD COUNT: 44 NOTES: Heh, same here. But the sad thing is... My place is Florida. LOL. btw I'm not coloring this cuz I'm on my super laggy phone, and my computer is done. There is no life left in her. ?

DROUGHT OF DEATHCLAN His torn ears twitched once. Was Pandora asking about the group's benefits or what sort of entertainment it had to offer? He assumed it was the former - amusement was hardly a priority when time could be better spent on other things.
"DeathClan is a sanctuary from the corrupt ways of those who follow CloudClan," Drought explained. "You are free to do as you wish here. Live in peace, work to become a member of the royalty, hone your skills, or perhaps choose another way of life entirely. The only price of this freedom is that you must answer to me. Is that all you wanted to know?" WORDS: 107 || WRITTEN FOR: Pandora NOTES - I could never live in the south; dunno how you stand it. Pandora nodded. "I've been on the hunt for a place that offers this. I think I might be here to stay. But If I do, I need to find a den, but have no idea of any ideal places. Have any suggestions?" She meowed, her eyes turning towards Drought again. She could still hear the storm fast approaching. The thunder boomed at the two cats still ignoring it's warnings.
NAME: Pandora GENDER: Female WORD COUNT: 67 NOTES: Soooo sorry for the incredibly late reply. I've been VERY busy. And I don't know how on this wide earth I can stand the heat. The highest it's gotten this summer, was like, 106 where I am. Our vehicle said the pavement was 118 f. I want to move to Tennessee.

DROUGHT OF DEATHCLAN "Normally, each cat explores on their own. I suppose I could give you some ideas though. Hmm…" Drought fell into a brief contemplative silence, not paying attention to the light rain that was starting to fall. Water dripped onto the branches above and splashed down around them.
"Fallen trees, hollow logs, and abandoned fox dens are usually a good place to start, if you can find any of those. Otherwise, you could make a home out of a bush or a tree. There's also the option of digging your own den at the roots of a tree or in the side of a soft dirt cliff. All of those types of dens have pros and cons - what sort of things are you looking for?" Pandora nodded slowly. "Well, I am looking for a den thats well hidden, but easy enough for me and my 3 legs to access in a hurry. But I guess that dens like that don't even exist." She sighed, blinking the rain out of her eyes. "Thank you Drought. I think I can find a den that suits me. I just have to open my eyes." She meowed. " I suppose you'd like to get out of this rain?" Pandora flicked her ear, the annoying feeling of water dribbling down her ears.

DROUGHT OF DEATHCLAN The leader gave his pelt a quick shake, sending droplets flying. The youngster had a point… he wouldn't mind drying off. Drought nodded and turned to leave.
"Indeed. Good luck finding that den," he meowed, then trotted away and disappeared amidst the trees. WORDS: 043 || WRITTEN FOR: Pandora NOTES - I'm not /busy/ so much as I have some real life issues going on, but yes, finishing the thread here is fine! template by Margie @ Adoxography v2
