[ Lightheart 'cause they're family ] Twistedpaw had never met her father. She had wanted to. But she was afraid. Even though her mother loved her, despite her broken jaw, what would her father say? Would he accepted the crooked jawed cat as his kit? She waited for him, wondering if she could spot her father. She had never seen him before. Would he know?

Lightheart walked lazily through the camp entrance, a pair of mice dangling from his jaws. It wasn't much, but it was good enough for him, especially since his bright pelt had always made hunting difficult for him. Entering the camp, the tabby warrior's nose picked up a familiar scent. Dawnbriar? he thought, dropping his prey off at the fresh-kill pile. His eyes scanned the camp, stopping when they came across a familiar colored pelt. No... that can't be Twistedkit... can it? he thought, surprised. She had grown much bigger than he remembered. Of course, she had been a newborn then, so it's obvious that she would be bigger, but she was about the size of an apprentice now. Has it really been that long? Deciding it was about time he manned-up and talked to one of his kits, the small tabby hesitantly approached his daughter. "Hey Twistedkit," Lightheart mewed with his usual half-smirk half-smile, "or, I guess it's Twistedpaw now, isn't it?"

Twistedpaw jumped a little when he approached, but she stayed cool and calm. She sniffed the air and caught his familiar scent. It was no doubt that this cat was her father. She nodded. "Yes. I'm Twistedpaw now. Robinfrost is my mentor." Now that she had met her father...what should she say? She hadn't seen her father in a long time. Most of the time, she had been curled up at her mother's belly, hiding from the world. "Are you really my father?"

"Well, I'm certainly not your mother," Lightheart teased in a bright tone, chuckling lightly at his own joke, but he was a bit nervous inwardly, "but in all seriousness, yes, I am your father." He had always avoided his kits, afraid that might not accept him like their mother did. Since he was a kit he had been told he was a small, annoying, and arrogant furball. It had never bothered him before, since he was to narcissistic to care what others thought of him (well, other than Dawnbriar), but he didn't know what he would do if any his daughters ended up disliking him.
"How is Robinfrost treating you?," the pale golden tom questioned, hoping Twistedpaw was enjoying her apprenticeship as much as he had, "I've never talked to him before, but he seems fairly trustable." He usually wasn't very fond of outsiders, but if Wildstar trusted the tom enough to point him deputy he must be at the very least a decent cat.

"He's nice to me," Twistedpaw said. "He seems to be able to put up with me. I hope I'm not too much of a bother to him." She sat down and looked up at him. "I'm glad to finally have met you. I was worried that maybe my jaw had scared you off." Even though she said it in a joking manner, she actually meant it. Would Lightheart be ashamed of his daughter for how she looked.

Lightheart nodded in approval when he heard Robinfrost wasn't causing any problems. The pale tabby would still like to meet the deputy sometime, though.
"Looks like you caught me," the small warrior said, "that face of yours would always scare me off -- you see I have this problem with approaching gorgeous cat's, I probably would have never had the guts to approach your mother if she hadn't come up and talked to me first," he said, leaning over and touching his nose affectionately to his daughter's cheek. Leaning back and looking Twistedpaw in the eyes, Lightheart tried to convey how perfect he thought she was. He didn't care one bit what the younger she-cat looked like; she was his daughter, and there was nothing she could do to change how much he loved her.

At first, Twistedpaw's throat tightened with hurt. She really did scare him off. But then, when he said gorgeous, she was caught off guard. Her throat loosened and she let out a relieved and happy purr. She was surprised by the affection in his eyes. He really did love her! Twistedpaw pressed her nose to her father's shoulder. "Maybe we can go hunting, father? Or something to spend time together?" She asked, eager to prove herself to him as well.

(( sorry 'bout replying a bit late )) " I'd love to go hunting-- as long as we steer clear of the river," Lightheart mewed, ears perking up. He wasn't the biggest fan of getting his paws wet and muddy, plus his short legs made swimming (along with running and jumping) a bit difficult. " Your old man's got some pretty awesome skills, if you don't mind me bragging," he went on, his usual smirk slipping onto his features. Of course, hunting wasn't his forte; his bright pelt stood out against most things, so hunting was actually pretty difficult for the tabby, but he had found ways to work around it.

[Don't worry about it. It's fine]
"Can you teach me?" She asked, stretching. She wanted to learn to be the best warrior that she could be. "I like to learn, and I believe that nothing is too hard for me." She never had much of an ego, so it was a rare moment that her own arrogance made an appearance.

(( we should probably start a new thread out in the territory if we're taking the two out there ))
" I'd love to teach you some new tricks," Lightheart purred, his leaf-hued eyes glinting proudly, " and of course nothing's too hard for you-- you are my girl after all," he finished with a light nudge. Most of the time teaching apprentices to hunt felt like a chore, especially when the pale golden tabby had so many breathing down his neck, yet he felt a little excited at the prospect of showing his daughter a few new techniques.

[Kay, I can probably do that]
Twistedpaw followed her father, looking, for once in her life, excited. She wasn't one to really express emotions. It was a sign that she was overjoyed to be accepted by her father, despite her looks.
