You got two lives down and one life left Redkit's teal eyes glimmered with pride and excitement. He had found something absolutely wonderful. The young tom had been investigating outside the nursery, per usual, when a curious bug flew smack-dab into the center of his face. Of course, assault against a minor is strictly against the warrior code, so Redkit assured the pesky bug got what it deserved. He didn't kill the creature, no, the crime the dragonfly committed wasn't that horrid. But if the bug thought it was okay to fly into cat's faces, then he shouldn't have the right to fly. Right? So Redkit had removed its wings. What the chubby kitten hadn't expected was for the wings to look so gorgeous. It was like a spiderweb he could touch without the risk of breaking the delicate threads. Stunning. Currently, the dragonfly wings were held in his jaws with extreme care, being set gently on the ground as if they were the most precious things in the world. "Mother~!" Redkit called out, looking around for the she-cat, "I got a present for you!"

Being called a mother or a mom or anything referring to her being a queen and actually having her own family was still so knew to Petalfur. So when her kit called to her, it took her a while to stir. Her nest was so cozy, and the nursery so shaded, that it was hard not to stay asleep. So the queen had succumbed to her exhaustion. Petalfur was dozing , enjoying the perfect weather from the safety of her temporary home, when Redkit's voice called to her. Her ears twitched, then she sat up suddenly, eyes wide. "What? What's wrong?" she called out, searching the clearing of the Iceclan camp through the entrance of the nursery. Then Petalfur's eyes fell on her kit, and she sighed, smiling then, and relaxed - there was no threat. "Redkit! What was that you said, my dear? I'm sorry, I was asleep." She chuckled slightly, noting the silver shimmery wings in the russet-colored tom's mouth.

You got two lives down and one life left "I said I brought something for you," the young tom repeated with a toothy smile. Once again he took the fragile wings gently into his mouth before lumbering clumsily over to Petalfur. His tail twitched in excited anticipation of what his mother would think of the gift. Of course, there was no doubt in the ginger's mind that she would adore it, after all, who wouldn't appreciate a thoughtful gift from the amazing Red, especially one this pretty. Redkit set the wings gingerly back onto the nursery floor, finally closing the majority of the gap between himself and Petalfur. "I confiscated these earlier from a rather annoying individual," he started, plopping onto his rear and wrapping his tail around his paws while continuing with his casual report, "the fuzzbrain had the audacity to fly right into my face! Can you believe it? The nerve of some people... Er, insects. But really, I don't know how the Clan coped with these pesky criminals before I came along-- it must've been more chaotic than Darkpool around here," Redkit closed his eyes and gave a quick nod of silent approval to his own self-praise. His teal gaze fixated back onto the dragonfly wings as he opened his eyes, "anyway, I thought you might like to take a gander at these. I'll give the pesky criminal props for keeping his appendages looking so spiffy," the tom continued to keep his eyes trained on the wings. Both slightly mesmerized by the foreign silvery beauty and nervous that he had brought something to his mother that she wouldn't find aesthetically enjoyable. After all, he wasn't too well versed on what she-cat's found visually pleasing.

Petalfur could hardly suppress a purr of amusement. She sat patiently through the young tom's chatter, her face stretching to reflect his surprise. It was very thoughtful of him to bring her a gift, Petal thought, but silently marked the excessive amounts of praise he gave himself. However, she was sure it would dissipate as his apprenticeship began.
"Well! How indecent of the insect! I bet you taught it a lesson!" Petalfur exclaimed, a fond look in her warm eyes. "The clan will be lucky to have such a wonderful, brave, selfless warrior when you are older!" Carefully, the she-cat pressed her paw into the wings, effectively sticking it to the fleshy pad. The wings truly were beautiful, and an honest purr began at the back of Petal's throat. "Thank you, Redkit! These are beautiful! I will hang them above my nest I the warrior's den when I move back in." Template by Meg❤

You got two lives down and one life left "Of course I did," Redkit stated in a matter-o-fact tone, raising his head and puffing his chest fur up in pride, "oh, and don't worry, I wasn't too hard on the poor fishbrain," he reassured with a nod, bouncing on his heels a bit. After all, he had to make sure it was known that he wasn't ushering out any unjust punishments.
"I hope so-- oh, um, I mean, I know I will!" Redkit exclaimed sheepishly, his arrogant persona slipping a bit at the beginning of his sentence, "I bet I'll become so brave and strong that all those no-good troublemakers wouldn't even dare to think of coming within a monster-length of IceClan territory," the ginger kitten mewed, liking the idea of not having to worry about his family going into battle. It wasn't that he didn't believe they couldn't handle themselves but, well, it just seemed like a world where no one he cared about got hurt was better.
Redkit grinned as his mother purred, gently nuzzling his muzzle affectionally against her. "I bet all the other warriors are gonna be jealous," he mumbled against her pelt, a content sigh escaping him.

Petalfur suppressed a little teasing laugh again, and through her overwhelming sense of pride, she forced herself to formulate the words that might ease her kit's arrogance. And it wasn't easy. "Oh, yes, I'm sure they will be," she agreed hesitantly, then tried to send a signal of seriousness through her eyes as she continued with "And I'm sure you'll admire their individual talent as warriors as well."
SOOOOO Sorry. Oh my God, my computer totally kicked the bucket so I've barely been able to respond - my phone is crap when it comes to the internet. Oh yeah, and somethings up with my platform. Woohoo Template by Meg❤

You got two lives down and one life left "Mhm," Redkit purred in a matter-o-fact tone, "'course I will! After all, when I'm a big strong warrior I'll wan't adorable little kits to look up too me," the ginger reasoned. He knew that him being respectful now didn't actually guarantee that future kittens would do so, but at least he would have the authority to that "elder thing" if they weren't. You know the "when I was your age we treated our seniors with respect" thing, the whole speech-- he would do the cranky old voice and everything. It would awesome.

Again, the queen nodded, and grinned slightly. "So, Red, you excited to be an apprentice?" Petalfur asked, hoping to divert the conversation to something most kits were always looking forward to. "Or will the elders' ticks scare you off?" Petalfur was well aware that the elders needed some help. It was rare for them to get an actual visit, regardless of the numerous apprentices in the clan. Occasionally, before she had found herself bearing Ashfrost's kits, she would visit the elder's den, Maplefrost specifically, and tidy up the place. It wasn't her job, but she looked up to the old tom greatly, and didn't mind lending a paw. "I promise you, it's not that bad if you get to know the elders. They're very nice."
