[Rosepaw]

Rosekit looked closer at Hailkit, noticing that she looked different, but Rosekit couldn't quite figure out why. "Well," she mewed after a few seconds, "What were you guys talkin' about?" she sat and wrapped her tail around her feet, looking expectantly at the two other kits. Rosekit decided to try and impress them, seeing as they looked older. The tiny kit puffed out her chest and stretched her neck out, hoping to look bigger. As she was showing off, her tail slipped under her and she fell on her face. "Ow!" She yelped, quickly getting up and swiping her tongue over her paws and face to clean the moss of her face. "I meant to fall!" She mewed, realizing that the two older cats were looking at her. "Didn't it look cool!"

"Aw, dang it. I was really hoping you'd grow wings and buzz around." She meowed, shuffling her paws. What if Bumblekit actually turned into a bee? That'd be awful. What would I turn into? Hail? Rosekit would be a rose. At least they smell nice. She snapped out of her thoughts as Rosekit broke the silence. What were they talking about? "I think we were chatting about pelts and fur." Hailkit answered, about to ask the she-kit what she looked like until there was another 'thump'.

The kitten gasped as she heard Rosekit's yelp. "What happened? Are you two okay?" She frowned as Rosekit continued. "It didn't sound cool. Are you always this clumsy?"

Bumblekit snorted, less amused by the thought of becoming a bee than the other two were. "I was just noting that if I were a bee, and Hailkit is the colour of honey, we were obviously destined to be friends," he informed Rosekit, with a smirk shot in Hailkit's direction.

"I'm completely fine," he replied automatically, since he had been sitting a nice, safe distance away from Rosekit. "I'm sure you did." He was trying to amuse the she-kit, though his own voice was dry, since his exasperation had long ago faded to confusion. A little clumsiness was understandable, but honestly. Rosekit's attitude was so far remarkable. "You're both truly incredible."

[Rosepaw]

Rosekit turned to Hailkit. "I'm fine!" she mewed, "And no, I'm not. What did you mean by sound cool? " Didn't Hailkit see her fall? She turned her head, hearing Bumblekit start talking. "Yep! you should be friends!" Rosekit was a bit disappointed, did her name or color go with theirs? "Hey!" she had thought of something! "Bees like roses, right? Oh, and my fur is only a little bit darker than Hailkits!" Rosekit's face lit up when Bumblekit continued. "We are?" she asked, "But, all I did was fall!" How could he think she was incredible?

Hailkit chuckled at Bumblekit's words. "Obviously." I hope he really means it. We gotta be friends forever! She smiled a little, mood brightening even more as the two said they were okay. She huffed at the incredible comment, taking it as sarcasm. "Thanks, Sir. You're pretty special yourself."

Hailkit tilted her head down as she heard Rosekit's question. "Um.. I can't really see right now..." She paused, "But it's nothing! I'll be able to see you fall over in the future." She grinned as Rosekit meowed on. Hailkit had to admire how enthusiastic Rosekit always was. "Mhm. Looks like we're a trio of things associated with bees."

Well he wasn't exactly looking for Rosekit's approval for his and Hailkit's friendship, but he at least acknowledged it with a wry smile. Even he could tell the smile grew warmed when he turned it to Hailkit, encouraged by her agreement of their friendship. It felt good to solidify it, since he'd never liked leaving things ambiguous. "Oh, I try," he retorted, amused by the fact that Hailkit at least had picked his jest.

"Evidently we're all destined to be flower-lovers," the grey tabby sighed, resigning himself to his fate amongst the she-cats. "Suppose we're friends now too, Rosekit." Not that he minded having more friends, and he was sure Rosekit would supply endless amusement to him anyway. "Not that I don't mind the extra company, but weren't you trying to find Violetkit or something?"

Rosekit cocked her head as Hailkit spoke. "You can't see?" she asked, "Are you sure?" Rosekit seemed to remember Sandleaf telling her something about kits who couldn't see, but she couldn't remember what. "Hmm, I think... Oh yeah!" she thought aloud, "Blind! That's what Sandleaf said! Hailkit, how long have you not been able to see?" She turned her head to listen to Bumblekit. As he was talking, she smiled and stifled a purr. He's my Friend! she thought. "Oh yeah!" She had forgotten about Violetkit! Rosekit was crestfallen, she didn't want to leave her new friends! "Well," she mewed, "I suppose she won't mind if I stay with you!"

Hailkit listened intently as Bumblekit spoke. finding Rosekit's replies a little amusing. She was quite the forgetful kitten. "I don't think she'll mind, either. Maybe she'll join our group sometime." She meowed quietly. It was so nice to finally have cats she could call friends! Besides her brother, of course.

Her smile slowly faded into a frown as Rosekit talked about blindness. "Y-you think I'm blind?" Sure, she was blind right now, but this couldn't last forever! Could it? "Um... I've never been able to see." She shuffled her paws. Was there something wrong with her? Way to ruin the mood, Rosekit.

[Rosepaw]

                             Rosekit's face lit up at Hailkits idea. "Yeah! Maybe she will, she's super awesome and-" As Hailkit's smile faded, she stopped talking. "You might be, but maybe you just can't see yet, I don't think so though." Rosekit's tone faded into seriousness as she talked about the obviously touchy subject. "I used to know a blind kit, my brother, but he... well he died." She looked at the ground, wishing she hadn't mentioned him. "His name was Thornkit." Suddenly she realized what she had said. "I don't think you'll die though, he was really tiny and weak. You're not small." Now she won't be my friend.

Bumblekit's gaze lit up hotly as soon as the topic switched to Hailkit. He was already moved to her side as Rosekit spoke, instinctively wanting to be of assistance to his friend. At first he thought he was merely overreacting, but when Hailkit let out a sound if distress he let his tail rest against her flank in silent comfort. "We don't know anything for sure," he murmured, hoping to be soothing. "Rosekit is just a kit like us. If we want real answers, perhaps we should speak to one of the queens, or Gullcry."

And then Rosekit was making it worse, and Bumblekit bared his little teeth. "Are you trying to be insensitive? Why would you talk to one of your friends like that?" His fur rippled with displeasure, and the desire to shepherd Hailkit away was becoming more intense.

[Palefire]

"You don't think so though? What does that mean? You think I'm gonna be blind forever?" Hailkit practically wailed, trying to calm herself down as she felt Bumblekit's tail. She nodded at his words. He had to be right. Rosekit was just a kit, she didn't know anything. She took long, slow breaths, relaxing herself quickly. Ugh, I overreacted. She thought, about to open her mouth to apologize. She stopped short as Rosekit continued.

Die? Now she thinks I'm gonna die? Hailkit closed her eyes and shrank down, pressing a little closer to Bumblekit. He was the friend she trusted more. Could Rosekit even be considered a friend at this point? "Just stop talking."

Rosekit flinched at the hostility her friends were showing. "No I never meant to make her feel bad!" she retorted turning her head in shame. "I'm so sorry, I just-" she stopped as she heard Hailkit speak so harshly to her. I never meant to hurt her feelings!  She thought to herself, I'm such a bad friend!  "I should never have mentioned any of it, I just wasn't thinking." Blind with frustration, she lashed out at the other kits, spitting her words out. "This hurts me just as much! Do you think I like to talk about-" Rosekit broke off, realizing that she was just making things worse. "I'm so so sorry, I'm a terrible friend."

Bumblekit's eyes were narrowed, though now from exasperation rather than anger. Since Hailkit seemed to have been rallied to her own cause, his own protective streak died down. He knew enough to let others fight their own battles; his support would be enough for such a little scuffle. "If you don't mean to do something, I'd advise against blurting out topics like death and blindness in the future," he drawled.

It seemed that Rosekit presented her own solution without realizing it. "Then how about not talking about such grim topics?" He sighed and shook his head, he was content to let the situation pass if Hailkit was. "Well?" He murmured to Hailkit before looking over at Rosekit. "Ignore me. It's her forgiveness you need to ask for. You didn't wrong me, so you have no need to ask for it; but that doesn't mean you have it anyway."

Hailkit hardly listened to what Rosekit had to say, only tuning in when she sounded a little frustrated. Why would Rosekit out of all of them be frustrated? She sighed as the kit finished with an apology. "It's okay... You've just convinced me that I'm gonna die. I guess worrying and being mad at you won't help, though."

Hailkit cleared her throat and straightened up again, hoping it'd make herself look confident. She shrugged at Bumblekit. "Whatever I guess. As long as she doesn't talk about it again." She kept her voice low, only raising it when she wanted Rosekit to hear. "You better not say anything else like that, whether it's about me or Bumblekit. I don't want there to be any fights because of your words."

[Rosepaw]

"O-okay, sorry" Rosekit sighed and turned around. "I'm gonna go, I'll find you later?" As she walked away, Rosekit knew she had messed up any chance of them liking her. "Maybe you won't want me to find you." she muttered to herself, "Maybe you never wanted me to find you at all." She started to run, not wanting them to see the small tears forming in her eyes. "Stupid me!" she yelled at herself once they were out of earshot, "Ruining everything!"
