Sock had been exploring the territory that he was not yet accustomed to. He had decided that the main clearing was a good place to see first. He had started wandering his way towards it, before he decided that climbing a tree might be a better way to get there, and more fun too. So Sock hopped into the tree and began launching himself from tree to tree in the direction he had heard that the main clearing was. His process wasn't the fastest, but he was doing it more for fun rather than for speed.
As Sock got closer the metallic smell of blood hit his nose. He faltered for a second and almost fell, but then he slowed and looked into the clearing. There were three cats, one of which was lying on the ground bleeding heavily. Sock's eyes widened and he sat down on the branch to see how this would play out. Then one cat made an announcement. No more permanent leaders. The original leader was dying. Do what you wish. Sock had never once met the dying cat, who he assumed was Drought, so any emotions he may have felt were muted. Instead he was more interested in anything. Sock stayed in his perch and away from the cats that had already showed they were willing to kill. Perhaps he would strive for leadership, but not now. If he tried to claim leadership now it may end in a bloodbath.

Rift was waiting for the cats in the clearing to attack her when she heard a small movement in the trees behind and above her. She quietly took a glance back, and to her amazement, she saw Sock up in the branches. An ally! Well, maybe not. She didn't know Sock very well, so he could be partnered with the murderer and co in front of her. But she decided to take her chances. "Sock!" Rift meowed, but then immediately regreted it. What if he didn't want to be noticed. Rift sighed. When she didn't think things through, she always ended up messing up. But, she supposed that all cats were like that.

VENDETTA OF DEATHCLAN Upon hearing all the noise and sauntering into the main clearing, Vendetta was greeted by an interesting scene. So that old king was dead? Finally. Vendetta had started to wonder if he would ever slip up, or if perhaps his every step was guided by Darkpool. Now, though, it seemed Drought would be walking amongst their ancestors. The black cat stepped forward to investigate, heedless of all the other felines, but recoiled sharply from the body when it twitched. Still breathing? Not for long, of course, but it was remarkably cruel to leave someone to slowly bleed to death like this. Vendetta would have to personally congratulate the attacker later. For now, he sidled over to one of the other younglings: Rift. "Fascinating, isn't it? How much longer do you think it'll take before he bleeds out?" purred the tom as casually as if he were commenting on the weather. Rift looked behind her as a new cat, one she did not know, came up from behind her. He commented on how it was about time for Drought to die. "You have a point there," she meowed quietly, "he was a good leader though. He made DeathClan glorious, for a while." The king of DeathClan had been in downfall for a long time. Nothing had really happened, and less and less DeathClanners had joined.

Badger smiled as he watched Drought bleed out. Finally, the Failed King would be dead, and Deathclan could rise back to glory atop his decaying corpse. He didn't bother saying anything to Drought as he died, he simply looked at his eyes and then turned away, to look at the growing crowd. He raised his chin and smiled at them all.
"Well, well, well, you are all witnesses. What you see before you is the new Golden Age of our home! No longer will our land be ravaged by weak leaders who cannot sustain us! No longer will we be forced into exile and shame because of a truly spineless cat. From this day forward, Deathclan will never have to worry about it's leadership again. If anyone dares screw this place up, they will finally be able to get the justice they deserve from this Clan." He said, voice harsh and quick, he was excited and energized by his assisted murder. So long it had been since he had gained a true victory in battle, even with assistance. He felt like a God among men.
The grey tabby padded over to Vale and gave him a small nod of approval. "As of now, Deathclan is, officially, leaderless. If any of you would like to arrange something, however, my ears are open." He purred, looking back to Drought.

Rift watched silently as Badger strutted around like he owned the place. Apparently he despised Drought very much. Rift may of been a youngling, but, this cat was way too full of himself. Feeling daring, Rift spoke up. "You act like you are leader of this clan, yet, as far as I know, you stand alone. Doesn't it scare you at least a little bit that you have no idea who anybody's allies are? Aren't you afraid that you might DIE?" Rift was satisfied with her little speech. Hopefully that would throw him off his high horse, at least a little bit. Rift then shifted her weight to stand a little taller.

So maybe Sock had been planning on staying in his tree silently, never being noticed, hearing who would be the new leader, and then leave, but it seemed somebody else had other plans. A voice called out his name and when his head snapped down to see who it was he saw a cat he had only met once before, Rift. He cringed slightly before looking around. It seemed nobody but her cared that he was here, and it also became apparent very quickly that her attention was elsewhere. She didn't say anything else to him so he turned away from her. He quickly moved to a different branch so that he would be able to watch Rift and the clearing at the same time.
One of the cats who had a hand in Drought's demise stepped forward and began some speech that Sock didn't really care about. He just wanted to know whose rules he was going to have to follow and whose good side he was going to have to get on. He rolled his eyes a little and flicked his ear. Leaders weren't really his forte and this guy seemed like the leader type. Then Rift challenged the tom. Sock stifled a laugh at her rebuttal. Sock decided that if there had to be a big blood bath that he'd back Rift, just because he knew her. He also thought she was funnier than the tom.

Badger purred at Rift and shook his head a tiny bit. "Death is for other cats, dear. Also, in case you just missed it, my two allies kind of just murdered one of the more powerful cats, or well, one of the older most powerful cats, in the entire Clan. I've known Vale for quite some time, so I have no doubt here his allegiance lies." He replied, without a tinge of anger or anxiety in his tone. This small scrap of tabby fur could talk all she liked, but so far she had nothing to dish out that Badger hadn't heart a hundred times before.
He stepped a paw close to Rift and cocked his head ever so slightly to the right. "I am Badger. I am a former Elite, a Spy, a former fighter under Viper, against Scarlet, ally to the Riders of Old who demolished entire groups overnight. You, on the other hand, have a very lovely blue pair of eyes. I have no intention of becoming this Clan's new dictator, it's tyrant, it's newest grave. I did just kill the last tyrant, did I not?" He said with a smile. "I will oversee your condescending tone if you can heave the gravity of mine. I am a cat with more experience, ties, and wits than you will manage to gain in half your lifetime. I have done things to cats that you imagine in your worst nightmares. If you think for one moment that I will tolerate your attitude for more than right now, you are mistaken. You are a child, a dumb one at that. As you grow you will grow stronger, wiser, and respectable. For now, however, you are a child. Learn your place. Make allies, keep from making too many enemies, and learn the arts of war and intelligence." He said, voice crisp as an autumn leaf.
He began to turn back to Vale, but kept his eyes on Rift for a second longer. "And also, one last little tip. Never let another cat know that you fear death. It only gives them another weapon to use against you." He said with a quick wink before sitting besides Vale. "Vale, old friend, this was splendid, truly. We should do it more often. You have a friend, Acidsomething, or no, Night...shadow. Whatever, names aren't important. Maybe we shall meet him next. I heard he eats cats. Is that true?" He asked, acting as if he hadn't just had to deal with the gnat that was Rift.

Eris heard the cry of Drought echo throughout the camp. His time had finally come, hadn't it? Padding into the clearing, she quickly noticed several cats gathered, none of which she was familiar with. She'd heard much of Badger and Vale, though.
She would've gladly joined forces with Rift and her "team, squad", or whatever they wished to call it, but they were simply ignorant to think they could overthrow all of DeathClan and become its' rulers. It was madness.
Rather than starting anything unnecessary, she observed everyone tentatively. Tensions were high between Rift and Badger though he was right. Younglings had nothing to their advantage. No experience, no alliances, and most definitely were not smart enough to overthrow the cat who'd just killed Drought. Of course, he hadn't done it alone.
Swimming in her blue-grey eyes was pity. She was but a mere youngling. Feeling as if she were more was unthinkable though she felt like a ruler. Perhaps a destined one. Shaking her head to clear it, she paused to think. Her actions would be rash, and caused by fear or terror of living under a king. Of course, he'd killed the king for all freedom of cats, had he not?
She lifted her head and glanced once last time over the cats. Should they try to rule over the rest of the cats who now ran freely in this great land, she would take action. Otherwise, her time here was well over and spent, perhaps she'd just lurk.
Most of all, she knew it was about time she made some alliances with other groups of cats. Maybe she'd start her own, though if she would, well... it was debatable. All she knew was not to mess with Badger or any of his current alliances, as they were considerable threats.

Ash Ash heard something like no other, and had to come to the scene. She'd never seen so many cats in one spot since she was told to help clear the river. The tabby felt like she was somewhat close to Drought, since she did help DeathClan and risked her life. Now she has slowly found out, he was now dead. What have I missed? she thought, trying to be far from the others as she narrowed her eyes. He can't possibly consider taking his spot in leadership?.. she thought, her tail flicking. She couldn't tell who's side she was on, and who everyone else was, either.

(awe thnk you badger)
Rift knew the tom would defend himself. What she didn't know, though, was that he wouldn't waver in the least bit. Looking around, Rift noticed that more cats were gathering, just not the cat she needed. Where was Wisp? Sock was up high in his tree, she suspected he would come down if a fight started. There was another cat, Rift couldn't quite remember her name, but the cat said that she would help her avenge Drought. So that was 4 younglings against 2 to 3 adult cats. Hmmm... Not very fair. Their were also the other cats in the clearing, which most likely wouldn't be on the side of Badger, but they weren't on Rift's side, at least not yet. If did come down to a battle between her and Badger, the odds would be in his favor, but, there was at least a sliver of a chance left. So Rift stayed in her position and waited.

That was quicker than I thought it would be, Indra thought grimly, padding up silently to the chaotic scene that had played out in the clearing. He'd heard bits and pieces of the conflict from afar; he knew what had happened here today, and who had caused it. The young tom knew that Drought's death had been a long time coming; there could have been no doubt about that, and he likely would have joined the fray had he thought he stood a chance of surviving the affair. Now, however, it appeared safe to see just what had resulted from the violence that had taken place here only moments ago. He was, admittedly, drawn to the aspect of power, as all of the other cats gathered here almost certainly were; the question now, of course, was who would take the mantle of leadership, and how they planned to procure the position. Rather than attempting to incite further violence, Indra aligned himself with the other younglings that had gathered; he would base any further decisions on the actions of those around him, and hope that he'd aligned himself properly.

Crow was silent throughout the whole scene. She was hardly more than a kit, just a frail youngling, but what she lacked in age or skill she made up for in her intelligence. Of course this intelligence was hardly sufficient to stand up against any of these cats, but it was enough to allow her to survive on her own, teaching herself basic skills and adapting to her ways of life. The matte black she-cat had only met this leader, Drought, once, way back, and they weren't necessarily on good terms. Crow had respected him regardless, but only as her leader. Otherwise she wasn't a big fan considering his attitude towards her arrogant, naive tone. Calmly licking a paw in the shadows of the clearing, her eyes only faintly pricked at the commotion going on, she let the whole thing go on as though it were normal. The only time Crow looked up was when Drought collapsed, drowning in his own blood, on the dusty ground. A twinge of pity passed behind her bright blue eyes, but she returned to crouching patiently, now curious to see who would claim the throne. The prospect seemed tempting to a few. Crow let a few moments of commotion pass, then she stood and stretched, padding into the light where she spoke bravely. "Are you saying you do not wish to claim leadership yourself?" The small she-cat began, eyes landing with precise focus on Badger. "Perhaps the prospect of being a global target is too terrifying to such a feared cat such as yourself, and you'd rather puppeteer the cat that does take Drought's place? Please, do tell, what is your plan?"

Ash Ash made up her mind, with narrowed eyes. The tabby swished her tail, seeing that there were younglings, but she didn't care. The mixed tabby thought, It hasn't sunk in yet, that he's dead. It just seems to fake. She sighed, finally puzzling that his killers would want his position, she couldn't keep herself. "Drought was the right leader. No one could have done better," she mumbled.

So, other cats were trying to push Badger around. Her bravery of speaking might of not shaken Badger himself, but a few more cats were now second guessing him. One was a small younglings, who almost looked like a kit. She spoke up directly against them. The other one was a female adult. She was more quiet, almost like she was talking to herself. Rift didn't say anything, but she kept her eyes locked on Badger in a passive-aggressive stance. She wondered when @something would show up. Alright I tagged you
