Silverpaw padded softly into the apprentices' den, moss hanging from her jaws. She had no idea where to set up her nest. Everywhere looked like it belonged to a cat, though some nests looked like they hadn't been slept in in a long time. Sighing, she resigned herself to what she had to do. Calling out to any cat, she mewed loudly," Hello! Can some cat please show me to a spot to make my new nest?"

Dappledpaw had been napping. Well - not necessarily; she was awake, just resting her eyes. Soon afterwards, her nap was interrupted, not that she really minded, since all she seemed to do was sleep. Getting groggily to her paws, Dappledpaw stretched, yawned and then greeted the cat - a new apprentice it seemed. "Hi," she said, then asked, "you're looking for a nest?" There were quite a few to choose from, but whatever.
She signaled for her to follow, as she pointed out several nests; one near the entrance, on the right, another at the back of the den, straight across from the entrance, another in the middle, and the last one near hers, which was in a corner of the den, at the back, on the left side.

Silverpaw sighed in relief. That cat seemed quite friendly even though Silverpaw had interrupted what looked to be a peaceful nap. She wondered if it would be against the unwritten laws of politeness to take the nest next to the other cat's. After all, the other cat might not welcome the intrusion. Then again, she had no idea which other nest she might take. At least she had met this cat, and liked her, whilst she had no idea how any other cat would react to her. "Sorry for waking you! Could I please have the nest beside you? I swear I won't annoy you or anything." Silverpaw mewed shyly.

Dappledpaw tilted her head, watching carefully as the other she-cat chose their nest, then gave another curious tilt of her head, as Dappledpaw seemed to register with the fact that the cat had apologized to her.
"Oh -- no, darling ... it's fine!" she exclaimed, smiling kindly at the new apprentice, though the thought of being made a warrior soon saddened her. Surely this cat had many other friends! She wouldn't be sad when Dappledpaw left, right? Of course she would see her around the clan, anyways.

Silverpaw dipped her head in thanks to the other cat. She had heard of this cat even though Silverpaw didn't know her name. She was going to become a warrior soon. What a pity. Silverpaw was happy at the kindness that the cat gave her, and was so excited to make the acquaintance of another cat, only to remember that the cat was going to leave the den soon. Well, she could always make new friends. And anyway, the cat would still be around camp. "Thank you so much. May I ask, what is you name? I'm Silverpaw!"

Was this a potential friend? Dappledpaw was glad the cat was friendly. Maybe they'd have more time to hang out, depending on when she was made a warrior.
"Oh! I'm Dappledpaw," she commented, then added, "Silverpaw is pretty name. Have you thought of any warrior names you'd want?"
[muse is dead and gone for now, my apologies]

Dappledpaw. Silverpaw committed that name to memory as her first apprentice friend. "Your name is pretty too. Well, I haven't really thought about my warrior name, except in a kit game. I named myself Silverdrop then, and I still think it would be a nice name. I think that it would be nice for the Clan leader to name me truly though, just to see what other cats think of me. What warrior name would you want?"
(It's alright. Let's hope it's back soon! Mine is just nonexistent.)

Silverdrop sounded pretty. She was curious to see what the apprentice chose in the future, disregarding kithood games and all. Silverstream? Silverpaw. It was rare to hear that name, though Dappledpaw at least, considering how short-lived her life was.
"Thank you, and Silverdrop sounds lovely." Dappledpaw replied, offering a smile -- genuine too. The she-cat had been thinking about it for a while now. "Dappledleaf," she said simply. It was plain, but simple. She liked that.

Silverpaw smiled back at Dappledpaw. Dappledleaf would suit the she-cat, not only for her appearance, but for her kind personality that shone through even in this short first meeting. Silverpaw found herself hoping that Dappledpaw would get the name of Dappledleaf, for she found that it was the perfect name for such a cat. "Dappledleaf would suit you very well." Silverpaw said. "Who's your mentor? Mine's Sunfish." She knew that it could be highly possible that they could have the same mentor, considering the lack of warriors in the Clan as of now.

Dappledpaw felt oddly relieved as she felt for now she wasn't around another cat who was unbearably persistent and/or hypercritical.
She felt nice about her warrior name. Of course being told the name fit her had her smiling again. She was content with it, and was glad another cat was as-well.
"My mentor is Maplefrost." she said finally, then tried to remember why the name Sunfish rang a bell. Maybe she'd just heard him mentioned before.

Silverpaw blinked questioningly at the name of Dappledpaw's mentor, Wasn't Maplefrost an elder? She had met him a few times as a kit asking for stories. Why was he mentoring Dappledpaw? Well, maybe it was due to the lack of mentors. Still, it couldn't hurt to ask. "Isn't Maplefrost an elder? Why is he mentoring you?" Even as Silverpaw disapproved of an elder being made a mentor, she couldn't disagree with the fact that Maplefrost was a well respected warrior and mentor. She was sure that he was a good mentor as well, seeing as how Dappledpaw turned out.

Cinderpaw frowned, but couldn't help but to sympathize with the elder. She was probably such a bother, and she'd heard he'd been going to the medicine cat's more often lately.
"Probably due to the lack of mentors in the clan right now." she said sadly. Maybe when she was a mentor she could be of some use. She looked forward to it, but then realized her whole kithood and youth would seemingly lead to be nonexistent in a short amount of time.
"I'm almost done with my training. I'm sort of glad, because I feel like I'm such a burden to him..." she trailed off, though she would miss her mentor.

SIlverpaw quietly cursed herself for bringing up such a sensitive topic around Dappledpaw. She could almost see Dappledpaw droop as she replied. "Well, I for one don't think you are a burden to Maplefrost. You seem like an eager apprentice, and I'm sure you learnt quickly. Anyway, it would do Maplefrost some good to get out of his den once in a while!" Finishing the sentence with joking laughter, Silverpaw took a nervous glance at Dappledpaw before deciding to change the subject. "Have you had your assessment yet?" SIlverpaw asked. Half of her wished that Dappledpaw would say no so that Silverpaw could speak more to her in the apprentice's den, but she knew that she should be happy for Dappledpaw and that it would be really selfish of her to think that way.

Dappledpaw smiled softly, again, then finally managed to add, "Yeah, I guess so." She just didn't want to injure her mentor during their training. She remembered hurting him a bit, it seemed, when they'd been practicing battle training moves once... though Silverpaw's kind words made her happy, nonetheless.
Dappledpaw hadn't exactly finished it, but she'd been working on it with Maplefrost lately. "Uh, yeah, but it's not finished just yet..." she said, noticing the reluctance in Silverpaw's tone, when she'd asked. Cinderpaw didn't want to leave all her friends behind yet, but she wanted to get the privilege of being respected by other warriors... well - everyone in general.

At Dappledpaw's reply, Silverpaw felt a small traitorous gleam of joy fill her. Squashing it down resolutely, she smiled as best she could at Dappledpaw and replied," Well, I hope you finish it soon! You more than deserve to become a warrior!" Silverpaw hoped, as all apprentices did, that she would become a warrior soon. But she also felt a twinge of apprehension. She knew that once she became a warrior she would have to take on all the responsibility that came with that role. But that was all part of growing up, and it was a necessary process. She hoped that Dappledpaw wouldn't become cold and distant to her after becoming a warrior. She had seen many cats do that, after their rapid status increase over their peers. But she had a firm belief deep within her that Dappledpaw wouldn't do that.
