Hazepaw


The calico she-cat curled up around the small pile of grass near her in the sun, feeling it's warmth on her darker fur. She liked being left alone sometimes, especially when the day was pretty and clear like it was today. A slight mist still hung in the air but overall it was still pretty as always.


Her nap was interrupted by the slight feeling of eyes watching her, opening her blue eye drowsily.


"Hm....?" she mews softly in response to seeing two little white paws.

A small kitten, the owner of the staring eyes and the white paws the she-cat had seen the second she opened her eyes. It was oddly quiet, considering how most kittens usually are seen bouncing around and generally being spastic for their age and their immaturity, yet this one just observed the she-cat with his small, observant eyes. He made no attempt to run off or to even move, just silently observing the calico that lay before him. His yellow eyes stayed locked onto her, and the only action he made was a slight tilt of his head before attempting to speak out to the grown warrior he was watching. "What're you doing?" He asked, not in a jubilant fashion a kitten usually owned, but in more of a quiet, questionative attitude towards the she-cat.

The she-cat's fur sticks up a bit in surprise, seeing the yellow eyes of the little kit just sitting there, staring at her. Her ears flatten a bit in response to his sudden question, her eyes looking around to find the little thing's answer.

"U-Uh....well...ya see...." she mumbles. "I was just napping...you know...staying warm. Nothing special....um...what are you doing here...? Shouldn't you be in the nursery...? You know...not wasting time out here...?"

The thought of the odd fluffball just sitting there watching her perplexed her. Was it her coat? She knew she was different - but she didn't realize she was a sideshow.

The little kitten's head remained tilted as he was questioned by the she-cat, not even knowing her by name so he couldn't refer to her in any form of fashion besides maybe a respectful response. Yet he couldn't quite find the words to respond to such an awkward acting cat. "you're out here by yourself too." He answered back, blatant as possible. He moved a little closer, you know, in the innocent kit fashion since it was a situation he was newly introduced to.

The she-cat raises a brow in question to him. Smart alac huh? She backs away as he drew closer, her eyes narrowing.

"I'm by myself because sometimes cats like to be alone....." she mews.

"Don't you have friends you should be playing with...?"

The little kitten just still kept his head tilted, not sure of why the she-cat seemed so hostile to him, it's not like he tried to attack her tail or anything. Which he didn't understand how a cat would want to be left alone, especially since the others in the camp usually were around each other all the time, especially in the cramped nursery where he would always have either a younger or older kitten falling over him or rolling over him. Which after he heard her question he took a little minute to try and think but then looked back up at her and shook his head, he only really had acquaintances not friends.

She sighs, sitting down.

"L-look kid...I'm sorry I'm coming off as harshh...I'm just not very social...I'm kinda just...I'm really always alone so I kinda just keep to myself so I don't get in anyone's way..." she replies softly, shuffling her paws a bit.

[Hazepaw]

The little kitten just almost gave a look of sympathy as he took another step forward, questioning why a she-cat wouldn't have at least one friend. He then questioned aloud, "Why don't you have any friends though..?" He asked, almost concerned as if she were related to him.

Her ears droop sadly as she paws at the ground, trying to look for the answer. She honestly didn't know how to reply to the little thing.

"U-Uhm.....why don't I have friends....?" she repeats softly, blinking.

"Uh....w-well....I guess......." she sighs, dropping her head. "I guess I'm just too shy.."

The little kitten gave another look of slight concern as he took a step towards her as she answered to him again, "Well I could be your friend, my name's Hazekit." He said quietly, almost sitting directly in front of her now as he stared up at her.

Her ears prick up a bit as he moved closer, her ear flicking as a moth flew by.

"W-well...I'm Scorchflight. Pleased to meet you."

She sighs again. "Although...you probably wouldn't want me as a friend very long....I get in the way alot and I look so ugly here in the mountains..."

[Hazepaw]

The kit gave a small smile at the prospect of his very first friend, yet then turned back to a look of concern as her next comment came on the friendship. "I don't think you're ugly, and you're my only friend." He said, he definitely wasn't going to be the most reassuring cat at the current time, being a kitten and all.

The she-cat layed down, tucking her paws underneath her. Sighing, she replies, "Still though. You shouldn't be wasting your time on me. You should be out learning to catch a leaf or throw a moss-ball."

Hazekit just puffed up a little, now this was his persistent side to him showing. He just took a step forward, "Why're you acting like you're boring? You're my friend and I'm your friend, why would I do something else unless I was ordered to?" He said, this was officially the longest and most meaningful thing he has said during his entire time being alive, especially with the factor of being a kit. Yet he just stared at Scorchflight, his yellow eyes showing no sign of him going to abandon his new friend, especially since she was a warrior, he could learn a lot from her.
