Palepaw was stubborn enough to go against what Foxtuft told her. Although, he said she still could as long as she was careful crossing the path where there were supposedly monsters. She decided to go during the day so that she could see better in the daylight. The she-cat stood in front of the fences and readied herself before pushing off on her hind legs to jump up high onto the fence. The fence wobbled and she hesitated to grip the fence and keep her balance.
Palepaw looked down the rows of backyards, wondering which one could have the rose. She didn't know what a rose looked like. It was a nice-smelling flower that had sharp thorns on it. She walked on the fence and examined each backyard carefully. Palepaw jumped down to inspect a round little thing that had water in it. Was it a little pond? It was a pond that she hadn't seen before.. She pawed at it and jumped, hissing at the thingamajig. The she-cat swiped at it with her claws and her claws poked holes in it.
Palepaw didn't notice it and kept wrestling with the pool. A twoleg walked by the patio glass door and started yelling at her. Palepaw looked up and turned around, darting toward the fence and jumping on it. She leaped into the next backyard and looked around, sighing with relief. She walked through the backyard and noticed another fence but it had something growing on it. The cream-colored she-cat walked up to it and mewed slightly to herself, flicking her tail. She leaned out to the flowers and sniffed them. They didn't smell too bad. They smelled nice. It was different..
"Thorns... Thorns..." Palepaw was acting stupid and reached out to poke it with her paw. She yelped and jerked her paw away from the deadly but beautiful flowers. She hissed at the flowers and brought her paw up to her face, trying to pick the thorn out of her paw.
