Mottledkit padded aimlessly around the nursery. He had basically been pacing all day; he'd probably made a rut in the nursery from the activity. The tom had wanted to go outside, but the dark clouds in the sky were threatening rain, and the tortie wasn't really partial to getting his pelt wet-- mainly because it took hours to dry. Sighing, the big kitten flopped onto his side with an audible thud. He stayed like for a few boring moments before rolling onto his back and exposing his snowy-white underbelly to the cold afternoon air. "Halp." he mewled unenthusiastically and wiggled his paws a bit.

Sandkit raised her tail and ran up to the kit. "You look like a turtle." Sandkit said teasingly. She rolled the kit over with her muzzle. "You ok? Im Sandkit by the way, im gonna be a Rockclan apprentice soon." Sandkit said with pride in her voice.

"Do I look like an adorable turtle?" the mottled tom drawled with a bright grin, glad someone had chosen to approach him. He made a small grunting noise as he was rolled over. "I'm sure I'll live," the tortoiseshell answered, hopping onto his paws, "nice to meet you by the way. I'm Mottledkit-- the proud product of Sandleaf. Or, well, adopted product anyway," shaking the moss from his pelt, Mottledkit continued, "so, apprenticeship huh? Do you have a mentor you want?" the amber-eyed tom tipped his head to the side. He hadn't met any warriors yet, or apprentice, or really any other cats other than Leafkit. And, now, Sandkit. It would be cool to know the name of a warrior, especially if they were mentor worthy.

"Yea I have two acutely. I want either Flamepath or Silentstep. They are both amazing warriors." Sandkit said thoughtfully. Then she laughed "Yea you totally look like an adorable turtle" She sat down and began licking her belly fur which was all puffy from the storm and wind.

"Why thank you," the torte mewled in a fake, girlish tone while batting his eyelashes dramatically. He snickered afterward and jumped back into the conversation, "Flamepath sounds pretty cool-- he's the deputy, right?" Mottledkit nodded his head, "Silentstep..." the amber-eyed kitten was sure he had heard the name before, "Silenstep..." he whispered the name again in attempt to force himself to remember. "Right! That's Leafkit's mom," the tom bounced a bit, happy that he was amble to remember, "She sounds pretty rad-- but will they let a nursing cat train an apprentice?" the tom tipped his head curiously to the side.

"Yea Flamepath is pretty awesome." Sandkit nodded placing her paw down and wrapping her tail over her paws she was little chilly. "Well Silentstep wants to mentor me. She said she would be honored to." Sandkit said shivering again her eyes were now closed trying to warm up. She looked at the other kit still shivering. "Im freezing."

"Cool," the tom gave a quick nod and wondered if any of the warriors would want to mentor him when he got older. Probably not, he concluded, letting his ears droop a bit. After all, he wasn't clanborn like most of the other kits, it wasn't likely the warriors would wan't to train a kittypet like him. The tom was so focused on his moment of self-pity he nearly missed Sandkit's shivering. "Really?" the tom mewled, tipping his head to the side. His long, thick pelt kept him safe from the cold. Blinking, Mottledkit looked around for something to keep his new friend warm. "Maybe if I..." the tortie mumbled incoherently to himself before digging gently into the mossy floor of the nursery. Eventually he was able to make a whole, revealing the small space between the moss and the stone floor. Gently, Mottledkit placed a paw on the stone-- it was warm from being slept on, and he let a smile flash. "Come on," he mewled, shuffling himself so he was under the blanket of moss, "it'll be warmer under here."

"Okay, thank you Mottledkit." Sandkit said thoughtfully quickly getting right into the warm nest. When she got in she let out a long sigh, it was so nice and warm. She barried her nose into the bed. Her pale ginger paws under her stomach and her tail around her paws. She quickly was warming up.

"No problem, doll," Mottledkit mewled cheerfully, "glad I could be of service." The tom shifted a bit under the blanket of moss, the warmth from the moss added to his long, thick pelt made the heat just a little uncomfortable. Twitching his tail slightly, the tortoiseshell started talking to keep his mind off the heat, "so-- whose your mother?" he asked, his large ears flopping a bit as he tipped his head to the side. He had learned some time ago not to ask about "parents"; seeing as for some reason most cats in RockClan (and presumably the other Clans as well) only knew who their mothers were.

"Sandleaf." Sandkit replied kindly her short pale ginger pelt was like her mothers. But she didn't know what she had in common with her father. She didn't even know who her's was. "Whos your mom?" Sandkit asked her tiny claws flexing lazily against the moss bedding below her. She looked over at Mottledkit. She has less fur for sure then he did. He must be sweating at night.

"Really?" Mottledkit's ears perked up a bit, "she's my mom too-- or, well, adoptive mom I guess. My birth mother's name is Evelyn, but I didn't really get to spend much time with her before my dad, Flint, took me here," the tortoiseshell explained with a lazy grin. He enjoyed talking about his parents even if he didn't remember much about them; in fact most of the information he knew had been told him. What he could remember was that his father had a dark pelt, and that he had a sister named Myrtle, but she had been too weak to survive the journey to RockClan. He also remembered being called Marshall before he was given a Clan name. I wonder if I look more like my mother or my father? the young tom thought, noticing how Sandkit's pelt resembled his foster-mother's.

"Cool!" Sandkit kit exclaimed now sitting in the moss. Her body was warmer but she was still cold from the wind. Sandkit felt her paws getting annoyed by the little moss pieces in between her claws. She let out a sshriek of pain when suddenly her a tiny thorn or rock go into the pad of her paw. "Ahhh" She whimper-screamed. she turned her paw and tried to pull it out but it failed.

Mottledkit grinned brightly at Sandkit's response. Not all Clan cat's, it seemed, liked being around "kittypets" like him. The tom was glad was happy that his newfound friendship hadn't been ruined by the fact that he wasn't clan-born. Mottledkit jumped when the she-kit next to him yelped, his amber eyes widening in surprise the sound. The sudden movement of the tom-kit's body moving upward caused the moss above the two to dislodge, flying upward then falling back down in broken tufts-- like snow. "What's wrong?" Mottledkit asked immediately, turning his worried gaze on Sandkit, hoping his friend wasn't hurt.

"Theres something in my paw!" Sandkit cried in pain trying to get what ever it is out of her paw. "It stings! And theres blood!" Sandkit was not to found of blood spills when it was a clan mate or her own. She franticly countinue licking the one paw.
