leafkit chased after the feather blindly, his wide gray eyes fixated squarely on his target. a light breeze had blown the blue feather into the nursery awhile go, probably from the fresh-kill pile, and the young tabby had been using it to entertain himself for the past few minutes. sticking his tongue out in concentration, the tom reached up and tried to bat at the feather, which only succeeded in pushing it further away. "mousedung," he cursed, narrowing his eye a bit. frustrated, he bolted forward and tried once more-- this time he lost his footing though, and ended up rolling head over heals with a shriek. he roll ended when he came in contact with a fluffy, fleshy rock. dazed, leafkit looked up at the "rock" with hazy, confused eyes.

Mottledkit jumped, startled, as something crashed into him. The large tom almost toppled over, but managed to keep his balance. Which was rather surprising, since the tom had a habit of being rather clumsy. "Woah," blinking, he turned his amber eyes on the fallen tabbykit, "you okay, doll?" he mewled, leaned down and nudging the tom gently in attempt to see if was still alive. He blinked again when his amber eyes met gray. "Need help?" Mottledkit offered, his tone almost teasing.

leafkit shrunk back a bit as the strange "creature", as he assumed it was, faced him, the fur on the back of his neck spiking defensively. the dark tabby was ready to sink his thorn-sharp claws into the intimidating ball of fluff he had tumbled into before he peered into "it's" amber eyes. leafkit blinked blankly for a few moments before huffing quickly away, "i'm fine," he replied curtly, making a few attempts to try and scuffle onto his paws. their was a sharp paint in his back left leg. he kept his gray eyes focused on the mossy floor of the nursery, not wanting to face the other kit due to embarrassment "and i can get up on my own."

"Okay, if you say so," the tortoiseshell tom-kit mewled, eyeing the smaller kitten carefully. It seemed one of his back legs had been injured during his fall. The tom resisted the urge to lean over and help the stranger, figuring the tabby might take very kindly to the action. Instead, the former-kittypet introduced himself, hoping that once the tabby's excitement died down he could be persuaded to accept some help, "I'm Mottledkit, by the way," the tortie said, nodding his head in the formal greeting. He let his dark amber eyes rest expectantly on the tabby-kit, waiting for the other tom to state his name as well.

leafkit glanced up at the other tom, taking a moment to take in his appearance. tortoiseshell? that's new, the tabby thought with a sniff. after a few moments leafkit realized he was staring at the other kit, and he quickly glanced back down at his paws, huffing slightly in embarrassment. "leafkit," the tabby mewled as an answer. sniffling, he shifted on his paws a bit, making sure his front paws took most of his weight, although he tried his best to make it seem as if his back leg wasn't causing him any pain.

"Well, it's nice to meet you Leafkit," Mottledkit mewled cheerful, glad the tom wasn't acting as hostile as earlier. The tortoiseshell blinked in confusion as the smaller tom started at him. 'Do I have something in my fur?' he thought in confusion, wondering if it would be rude to shake out his long pelt. 'Probably' he concluded, noticing that Leafkit's gaze had drifted down again when he looked down. A sniffle from the kit caught Mottledkit's attention. "Do you have a cold?" he asked good-naturedly, tipping his head to the side, "or is it just allergies-- I get those during new-leaf. Daddy said it was... pollen? Yeah, pollen."

leafkit rolled his eyes as mottledkit misread his staring-- or at least he thought mottledkit misread it, since the other tom didn't seem to be angry at him. a faint smile tugged at the edges of the tabby's mouth, but he quickly forced it down. at least the bloak's polite, he thought to himself, still focused on his paws. more questions from the other tom put the small kitten on edge. "no," he stated quickly, although he was almost positive he had a bit of a cold. maybe, "and its not allergies either," leafkit sniffed again, "it's probably just some dust or whatever," he tried to reason, then shook his head and changed the subject, "you said you had father right? and you actually got to meet him?" the questions were rather vague, but leafkit thought they got the point across rather well. after all, it was sort of rare a kit go to know their father-- leafkit didn't.
