Ghostkit's small face peered worriedly out of a small hole in the mountain side, white muzzle sticking out like clouds against the sky. Pale gray eyes glowed in slight worry as he scampered out of the hole he had found earlier that day. A small hole that led to a tiny cave that fit probably to a warrior's size. Did anyone know about it? Why was the hole there? What if someone found his special hiding place?
His tail lashed in agitation at the thought. Being a natural worrywart, Ghostkit worried all the time. Even over stupid things like who got to sleep where. Who got which piece of freshkill. Not to mention he often gave up his piece to other kits if they got hungry.
Except for now. Ghostkit was hungry, but his thoughts were focused on his hidey hole. Eyes flashing everywhere, the small white cat snatched a small bird off the pile in one movement and was gone the next, racing back to his hole.

Silverpaw had been sitting beside the fresh-kill pile, finishing up her prey. She had planned to go for a little hunting trip after that to make up for the trout that she had just eaten. Giving her fur a few quick licks, she pushed herself onto her paws and scanned the camp for someone to go hunting with her. Her eyes landed on a little kit peeking out of a crack in the rock face. Blinking, she looked closer. The kit blended in quite well with the snow and ice, but he was there alright. Silverpaw envied his white fur. Her own jet black fur made it quite an art to blend in with the snow of her home. She was proud of being able to do that. Returning her gaze to the kit, she was just in time to see him dash out of the hole and grab a piece of prey before darting back in. Why would the kit be hiding like this? Maybe he was playing a game? But she had seen true fear and skittishness in his eyes. Deciding to investigate, she crept closer to the crack.

Ghostkit hungrily devoured the bird, feathers everywhere and blood on his paws and muzzle. Pale gray eyes were huge and wary, flicking everywhere as he practically inhaled his meal. Stomach uncomfortably full, the thin tomcat backed further into the darkness of his small "hole cave" as he picked up the sounds of footsteps getting closer.
Gray eyes growing huge, he backed into the wall, absently licking his jaw free of sticky, cool blood. The scent of an unfamiliar she-cat filled his nose, and Ghostkit's nostrils flared instinctively. Against the wall, Ghostkit nearly looked like a spirit, but the spark of life in his pale gray eyes were the only sign the ghostly white tom was alive.
Wary eyes caught a flash of black fur and a brief sparkle of silver. Attention caught and every limb poised to flee, the tomcat waited a little fearfully for the cat to enter.

As Silverpaw reached the crack, she could scent an overwhelming fear-scent. Why is the kit so afraid? Surely he has nothing to fear from me. Steeling herself for whatever she might find, she squeezed into the crack. Her small frame fit easily into the small hole. As she reached the end, she saw the kit and flinched back sharply for a moment. The kit was pure white, backed against the far wall of the cave. A tinge of blood remained on his paws and muzzle and the feathers of a bird were littered around the cave. He looked terrifying. Breathing heavily, Silverpaw gave her fur a few licks to calm it and then decided to speak up. Staying where she was for fear of scaring the kit even more, she mewed softly, "Hello. Are you Ghostkit? I've heard of you. I'm Silverpaw, if you don't know my name. Why are you here?"

For a moment, Ghostkit smelled curiosity coming from the sweet scent of a she-cat, but was briefly stunned when the she-cat squeezed past the small hole and into his little cave. No, he wasn't afraid. He had been afraid she was coming to steal his prey. Not to mention he was extremely nervous around other cats in general.
Though when she saw him, Ghostkit's huge moon-like eyes settled on the silver coat of the warrior sized she-cat, not even blinking. Then scenting a bit of fear, he briefly felt confusion before he glanced down at his paws. Oh. He still had blood on his paws. And his muzzle, as he went a little cross-eyed.
Though.. how did she fit in here? Blinking innocently, the pale-eyed cat narrowed his eyes at the she-cat. Then, "Hello. Are you Ghostkit? I've heard of you. I'm Silverpaw, if you don't know my name. Why are you here?" The onslaught of questions hammered at him and he shrank slightly at the rapid burst of inquiries.
"Oh. Um." he replied in a rather small sounding voice. "I- uh.. Y-yes. I'm Ghostkit. Nice t-to meet you, Si-silverpaw. And u-uh.. No I don't know o-of you.." his uncertainty made the white tomcat glance downwards almost shyly. "U-um.. I don't like being social?" he queried, lifting his dreamy silver eyes and pinning Silverpaw with almost a painfully timid stare.

Silverpaw flinched a little as Ghostkit shrunk. She didn't mean to scare him! Did she look that intimidating? Glancing critically at her lithe frame, she sighed. Obviously not. Ghostkit was almost her size already! She was barely past kit-size. At Ghostkit's admission that he didn't really like socialising, Silverpaw nodded in acknowledgement. So that was why he had been so shy and quiet. As Ghostkit shyly gazed at her, she winced a little. His gaze seemed to be so far away, and yet staring through her. Returning his gaze with a warm look, she mewed comfortingly, "It's alright. And nice to meet you too. Would you like me to leave then? I suppose I can if you promise to return to the nursery by nightfall. I'll tell your mother for you if you want. Then she won't be too worried."

Ghostkit was small. He knew he was painfully small and skinny for a tomcat of his age. Therefore, he thought Silverpaw was kind of a warrior-sized cat. His gaze flickered down to his paws, and the white tomcat curled his tail around them as he shrunk slightly further.
His gaze lifted again, and Ghostkit flinched slightly at the warmth in her gaze. He let out a shaky sigh and shifting when her voice soothed his ruffled spirit. "U-uh.." he hesitated slightly, and his eyes widened when she offered to leave. "N-no! Don't leave!" he blurted out haphazardly. He practically craved companionship. "I- I don't really.. have.. friends. " he finished rather lamely, in his opinion.

Silverpaw smiled gently at the kit. She could almost see him relax as she spoke. He seems shy, but friendly enough. What a pity that he didn't have many friends. He would be quite lonely without them. She supposed that he would make way more friends once he went into warriorhood. Most cats tended to. "Alright then. I'll stay. I'll be your friend. And I'm sure you'll make many more throughout your life." Silverpaw knew that the words were cliche, but she truly meant them. Shifting slightly from paw to paw, she wondered what she would do now.

Now Ghostkit looked suitably embarrassed, his body practically burning with it. He huffed an awkward, kit-tish laugh and sat down.
" H-heh. Thanks. " he glanced at the ground out of habit. " I- I dunno. I'm not.. the most social cat out there. " he murmured sheepishly.
(sorry about lack of words, i have a bad case of writer's block)

Sunkit walked near the hole and saw Silverpaw in it. "What are you doing in there Silverpaw?"

Silverpaw dipped her head in acknowledgement of Ghostkit's reply. She could almost feel the embarrassment burning off the kit's pelt. "It's alright. You don't have to be to social to make friends." Silverpaw mewed softly. Maybe she could get him to open up a little. That level of shyness wasn't bad, but it wasn't too good either. Turning towards the new voice, she was startled to see another kit. How had he known her name? She didn't think they'd met before. She shuffled a little to block most of the other kit's view. She had no idea if the kit had met Ghostkit before, and didn't really want to overwhelm him. With an uncharacteristic laugh of bitter humour, she wondered if she would be standing here all day, with a kit on either side of her. Maybe Ghostkit was already comfortable with the other kit? "Well hello to you too. I don't think I've met you before. Are you one of the new kits? And as for what I'm doing in here, that's strictly on a need to know basis." She mewed jokingly, aware that the kit might think that she was doing something highly illicit. She still remembered her escapades with Redpaw...
(It's alright!) (Can I just say that, Sunkit, for a new member, your post count is amazing. The nursery seems to be way more alive these days.)

(aww thanks. I just love roleplaying so much)
"Yeah I'm new. My name's Sunkit! Is there something down there that you are looking at?" Sunkit meowed. She was a naturally curious cat, and the fact that the apprentice was standing in the hole felt a bit fishy. "Are you trying to hide?"

Silverpaw sighed. It seemed that she didn't have much choice but to let the kit in. She couldn't go on standing there forever! Still, she made a last-ditch attempt at stopping the curious kit, in hopes that Ghostkit may outright tell her if she should lead the kit away. She didn't want to make it seem as if she was leaving Ghostkit for Sunkit. "Err... Not really. And I suppose that I'm not trying to hide." Silverpaw meowed self-consciously. Lying had never been a strong trait of hers.

Ghostkit flushed in embarrassment again, his ears flattening slightly. When he heard another cat's voice, he all but yelped in shock and flattened himself to the ground, pale gray eyes round in alarm and ghostly, pure white fur fluffing out in fear.
The result was quite comical; he looked like a giant, white fuzzball.

Silverpaw glanced back at Ghostkit and could practically see him quivering in fear. If it had been any other scenario she would have laughed at the comical sight that he depicted, but in this case she couldn't help but wince. What now? Quickly making up her mind, she decided to lead Sunkit away. With a quick murmer of,"I'll try to get her away." to Ghostkit, she put on an excited look and stepped out of the hole, ushering Sunkit away while exclaiming,"Hey! I think I see a patrol coming back! Come with me to say hi!"
(I suggest so as not to leave anyone out that Sunkit double back or somehow sees Ghostkit in the opening.)
