Flashkit's Demeanor

[Flashkit]

Flashkit rolled over onto his small back. How good it felt to be with other cats. He couldn't wait to become a warrior. It seemed just out of his reach. Then again, his slim paws probably couldn't reach far.

He started to mew in hunger. "Hello? I'm huuungery!"

Poppykit had been dozing when another kit started mewing in an obnoxious manner. Groaning, she dragged herself to her paws, blinking hard to clear her hazy eyes. Of course she was awoken by another kit, who else could've done it?

Making her way reluctantly toward the source of the sound, her tail dragged behind her, and once she reached the tom, she prodded him gently, grunting irritably. "You can walk, y'know."

The little kit's meows stopped abruptly as another kit, Poppykit, he thought, nudged him. "I know that, but I just...don't want to. That's all." Flashkit sniffed. He didn't want to be out of thunder. The tri-colored tabby stood up on stocky legs. "There. Happy now? I stood." Rather snottily, the small tom pranced around Poppykit. He raised his chin and stomped down on his soft little nest. "I'm hungry. I want to eat something. Where's the food?" Flashkit squeaked.

She blinked slowly, and after a moment realized the tom had actually managed to get to his paws. So he wasn't too lazy, that was good. "Yes, I am." she said firmly.

"I'm aware you're hungry," she replied irritably. "Thanks for reminding me, though." Feeling guilty for responding in such a rude manner, she glanced at the nursery floor, then apologized. "Sorry, I'm just... not sure how to act around everyone yet, considering I was just recently born and all."

Lifting a hesitant paw, she gestured toward the nursery entrance exit. "Out there." Poppykit said, making her way over to it. Almost immediately after exiting, a cool blast of air hit her, blowing against her, and she took a moment to savor it, then headed to the so-called fresh-kill pile she'd heard of. "If you want some, follow me."

"Thanks, really." The small kit grinned at-maybe-his new friend. "Lead the way!" As Flashkit marched toward a seemingly endless pile of food, his mouth started to water. "And don't say sorry. I don't like apologies. They are pointless. Who wants to be reminded of what they did wrong? If I'm ever leader someday, I'll make sure that no cat ever says sorry again!" As the tom bounced up to show he was sure, he tripped on a lying twig, falling flat on his face. "Ow..." 

Taking a piece of kill, a small bird of sorts, the tom meowed to Poppykit, "Wanna share? As hungry as I am, I can't eat all of this." Flashkit, on occasion, tends to like sharing, so he did so now with eagerness. Without waiting for a response, the kit chomped down on the bird, spitting out feathers.

She nodded. "Okay, so -" but refrained from apologizing because she'd apologized already and found the tom didn't like apologies. "Right, won't happen again." she added firmly. Hopefully.

Padding after him, she trotted toward the fresh kill pile where the tom snatched up a bird. "Sure, I'd like to-" Share, she thought, as he tore it apart. "Actually," she said, pulling back and grabbing a small vole, "I'll just finish this..." the she-kit mewed, gesturing to the vole.

Nodding, Flashkit bit again into his prey, relishing the juiciness of it, and thanked the warriors silently.  Thanks, but I will be the best at hunting soon, you just watch!
