Obsidian kept up his hurried pace until he came upon the site he'd been looking for. He'd hoped to find a way to prank Kiska on the way, but he hadn't been able to worthwhile route that would have been appropriate for a prank. This minor annoyance quickly melted at the sight before him, however, replaced by a profound feeling of contentedness. "This place is a bit more scenic, I will admit," he said to Kiska when she'd caught up, staring out over the quietly babbling stream that became a mild waterfall, the spray of which created small, incomplete rainbows in the air above the water. "What do you think?"

Kiska breathed deeply as she caught up with Obsidian, too caught up in the image of the stream to be suspicious at all. It was stunning, with light glancing off the spray and the brook quietly providing a comforting consistency in sound. She had always had the impression that the Woodlands were a harsh place, filled with death, but even as it may be so, there was a quiet beauty to it. Tearing her eyes off the sight in front of her, she spoke softly to the other wolf. "It's amazing, I must admit. There's a certain peace about it. I wonder if it's possible to swim in it?"

Before Obsidian could reply, a thought struck him. Grinning mischievously, the male said, "I'm sure it could be arranged." Thanking whatever powers there may be for his good fortune, the wolf put a little more thought into his plan. He couldn't just push her in; that could result in injury, with all the rocks lining the bank. No, he'd have to propel the she-wolf forward with more force, which meant he'd likely have to get wet himself. Obsidian shrugged, considering it a small price to pay, and charged forward with a laugh, angling himself in a way that he hoped would cause them both to tumble into the easily flowing water.

Kiska felt a sudden stroke of foreboding at Obsidian's words. I set myself up for something, didn't I? Mentally groaning, she braced herself as Obsidian charged against her, throwing them both into the clear waters of the stream. In the moment, she felt strangely calm, and mentally thanked him for having the presence of mind to shove her a little further so she didn't get injured. A good wolf, even if they did play pranks. She started it anyway. All thoughts of goodwill towards Obsidian floated away, however, as she was faced with the icy shock of the river waters. Spluttering, she kicked out frantically with her paws, just barely bringing her head above water. A nice way to learn to swim, isn't it? However, the wolf quickly got the hang of swimming, and only then did she turn her gaze towards Obsidian and nod. "Well, I suppose you've got me back for that. Shall we continue?" She had every intention of restarting the prank war, but she would let Obsidian have this round.

Despite having braced himself beforehand, the icy shock of the crystalline water still took Obsidian's breath away. He recovered quickly, however, and noticed that Kiska seemed to be having trouble. After a brief moment of panic, he realized that the black she-wolf had gotten the hang of swimming quickly, and so turned back and kicked powerfully toward the closest bank. Climbing onto the shore, he shook off, then turned to face Kiska with a lopsided grin. "I sure did," he remarked smugly, then turned and moved forward once again, at about the pace he'd set at the beginning of the tour. "So, strategic or scenic?" he asked amicably, picking his way around a fallen tree.

Kiska followed the other wolf onto shore, shaking her head in playful disapproval at his smugness. She would knock it out of him in the next round of the prank war, and so Kiska wasn't too insulted. Leaping over the fallen tree, Kiska mused at his question. In truth, she didn't much care either way. Both had their advantages, and they would get to every place eventually, so there wasn't much point in choosing anyway. "Any, I don't mind. Artemis Scout territory sure does seem to have a lot of interesting locations, doesn't it?" Walking in step with the other wolf, Kiska smiled again in satisfaction. The decision to join the ranks of this pack seemed like a better decision every day, and she had no regrets for it. After all, she could have been on her own now, lost and lonely. But now, she had a pack to depend on, and that pac could depend on her too.

"Indeed it does," he answered, his voice hitching a bit at the end of the sentence; he was beginning to regret having jumped into a cold stream, on a cold day, without any feasible way to warm up other than to walk around. After thinking over the question himself, the male decided on taking a look at another strategic location; there was one close by, anyway, so it would be more convenient. After a bit more trekking, Obsidian came out of the woods, cresting a small hill that overlooked an enormous clearing, perfect for battles as well as hunting. "Advantageous for everyone," he declared cheerily, as much to himself as to Kiska. "What do you think?" he asked the she-wolf, his voice holding the familiarity of a friend; a tone he used only rarely.

Kiska heard a tiny hitch in Obsidian's voice at the end of his sentence and flicked her ears back in worry. She couldn't help but be concerned for the wolf, though she had no doubt that he could take care of himself. It was simply a natural instinct, born out of a concern for, dare she say it, a friend. She shook it off though, for she was confident that Obsidian wouldn't want her to worry over such a tiny thing. Her worry kept her from feeling the biting cold as they moved to the next location. Obsidian seemed to be indicating the clearing to her, and Kiska did agree that it was a great location for a battle. However, it seemed just a little too open for her. "It's nice, but wouldn't it be better if the Artemis Scouts had a tactical advantage? As it stands here, it looks to be equal for both sides. Also, imagine if a group of wolves were to surround the clearing. That would be dangerous indeed. They could stay hidden in the fringes of the clearing and slowly pick off wolves." Kiska remarked with slight skepticism. It seemed a little too dangerous for her.

Obsidian shrugged, unperturbed by Kiska's skepticism. "You're probably right; I'll leave the strategic thinking to tactical geniuses, such as yourself," he remarked playfully. In truth, the male had chosen the clearing for more than just a decent location for a battle; he enjoyed the change of scenery, from the shadow-filled world of the forest to the open, windswept freedom of this grassy patch of land. Suddenly, he recalled having stumbled upon a ravine, not too far from the clearing. "There's another spot I want to show you; its not too far away," Obsidian said, after calling up a memory of the location of the landmark. Turning to his left, the black-furred male set off again; before long, the terrain became uneven, and he found the split in the earth after only about a minute of travel. The area surrounding the ravine was covered in bushes and brambles, perfect for hiding in; as he'd said before, Obsidian wasn't necessarily a tactical thinker, at least not in large-scale battle situations, but the opportunity for an ambush here- especially if you could get others to assist in luring an enemy into the ravine- seemed obvious. "What about this?" he asked, turning his dark amber gaze back on Kiska.

Kiska grinned in return, understanding Obsidian's motives. Maybe, just maybe, her world could exist of more than simply fighting. It seemed unlikely though, with her very role in the pack being an assassin. Following the other wolf eagerly, she wondered what would come next. She soon got her answer as the ground became tougher under her feet and she began to spot bushes and brambles on the edge of a split. The ground almost seemed to be wrenched apart. Now, this, this she could work with. Mind working quickly, she pondered the tactical advantages of the ravine. If they could somehow herd an enemy into this, said enemy could be easily ambushed by wolves darting down the sides of the ravine. There were plenty of places to hide, and the attacking wolves would have the height advantage. The enemy would be trapped, in a tight space, with no where to go. She could see some issues with that though. A triple ambush was clearly a remote possibility. Remote enough that she didn't see the point in mentioning it. "Well, this seems to be quite a dangerous place. Now, I wonder if we could trap someone in it. We wouldn't even have to use any wolves if we could somehow trigger a landslide." Grinning at Obsidian, her mind began to work out various ways and means of using this ravine. "Tactical thinker or not, this place is perfect."
(Sorry for the lateness! Life just, well, attacked.)

Obsidian bowed low, a smirk forming as he did so. "You humble me, O Wise One," he said, mock reverence in his voice, and when he straightened back up, his dark amber gaze had the same look of mischief that his smirk had held. Turning his stare upward, he noted the low position of the sun, and an idea came to him. Lowering his eyes once again, he said to Kiska, "There's another spot you've got to see," and the male turned away from the split in the earth, following a meandering path through the woods in the general direction that led to the edge of Artemis Scouts' territory. The trek was not long; the two wolves had been close to the border to begin with, and Obsidian had set a brisk pace for this specific location. When finally the black wolf had reached his destination, the sun, now a fiery red, had just reached the distant horizon, casting far-slanting shadows across the land wherever its light still touched. The place Obsidian had led the she-wolf to was a small outcrop, an anomaly in the otherwise relatively uniform forest, that overlooked an enormous portion of land, which was made only more spectacular by the dying light of the leaf-fall sun. As the wind picked up, tossing Obsidian's black fur about like waves of rippling grass, he turned back, the red light lending him an eerie outline, a block of shadow in a land of red. "So, my friend, what do you think?"
(That's okay, and I apologize as well. As you said, life attacked :3)
